also, i too have problems of missing texture, dunno if related to optifine, to fix it i just choose default texture pack ingame then back to my usual texture pack still ingame and the missing textures are back
Connected textures (render pass and similar) will be updated, but they have relatively low priority.
To fix the missing texture I need screenshots with/without OptiFine and the error log (MagicLauncher can show it).

Random Mobs is a client functionality and currently it can not be installed on the server.

When I start the game I am missing most textures mostly all non-block items, they are all invisible. However when I toggle "custom sky" on/off they all come back. Thought it may be a bug and let you know.

I've found a tricky bug, dependent on several mods at once and none in particular, except that removing OptiFine fixes it, so maybe this report will help.

- either Mystcraft 0.10.2.00 or LegendGear 1.5.2
Impact: most items do not render.

Workarounds:
- Replacing Biomes O' Plenty 0.5.0 with 0.4.9 fixes it.
- Removing Twilight Forest fixes it.
- Removing Tinkers' Construct fixes it.
- Removing both Mystcraft and LegendGear fixes it.

Actually, using Forge #654 with Optifine HD_U_C2 fixes it.
This bug and many other related posts seems to be the same issue I have posted about in previous posts. While it might not solve all the issues it has become very clear to me that there is a conflict between forge and optifine. I can install 1.5.1 with no issues with Forge alone or Optifine alone but when combined, texture items get mixed up with certain HD texturepacks and mods. It does not seem to be a problem for HD texturepacks once the texturepack is reset in the options panel after loading but it occurs everytime minecraft first loads and some mods cannot be reset like the texturepacks. Looking at the textures and the way that they are changed it also becomes clear to me that its not just a shift in item block values or texture values. It almost seems like what occurs when you attempt to use a 32 bit texture in a 16 bit mode. Not sure if this helps. I have seen similar texture changes when by accident I used a 32 bit texture in 16 bit mode, hence why alot of item textures simply dissapear....

To start I cannot speak for all mods but I will list the mods and texturepacks I have attempted to use. In previous posts I have listed the versions of forge and optifine that I was using. Basically Sp614x while I have your attention I want to say what an amazing mod you have developed here. You have made it possible for me to play minecraft with my daughter no matter how crappy the computer! In fact your mod is so amazing that I refuse to install a 1.5.1 server until these bugs get worked out. Ok with that out of the way I'll admit that I have been quite obsessed with trying to get my server running. This issue occurs with every version of optifine and forge since 1.5.1 was released. I have attempted every possible combination of versions up to your most recent release C1. Keep in mind I only use your Ultra version. I install Optifine directly into the jar after Forge with no other mods other than the mods in my mods folder. I am using the most recent releases of Athery's Ascended and Faithful 32. The issue seems to only occur when I change to one of these texturepacks and only affects the items and the menu icons (in creative mode). The texturepack is fine when it is first changed but any reload of the game using that texturepack results in mixed textures. This is all without any mods installed other than Forge and Optifine. The mods I do use and seem to be most affected are ComputerCraft, Jammy's Furniture, and Redpower2. Seems to be any mod that adds new item textures to the game. I have not played with the mods much because I know the issue occurs without mods and I have been working on fixing this mostly. I have also tried converting texturepacks with mcpatcher and installing using mcpatcher with the same results. I have tried removing all the config files to force a reset of settings with no luck and even attempted all these installs with fresh vanilla jars. I have attempted to change almost every setting optifine has and all i get is a reset like resetting the texturepack. I find it strange that if I go into the options menu and just click on the same texturepack again the problem is fixed. With a little programming experience I would say that something is being set out of order concerning item textures only during boot up either by Optifine or Forge but not when the texturepacks are chosen from the options menu. Almost like the Texturepack item textures are being overwritten?

I just found that after initializing Forge makes a forced texturepack reload.
The textures are loaded once when starting Minecraft and reloaded again after Forge is initialized.
Maybe something goes bad in the Forge reload.

Could be just me but alot of issues cannot be cleared up until this problem is fixed because that could be a source of alot of the problems people are having. I also feel that the issue is being caused by Forge but it has been hard for me to verify this because the issue only seems to occur for me when Optifine and Forge are installed. It does not occur when Optifine is not installed so this is what confuses me..

Is it possible that this forced reload is not taking into account the change in bit depth of the texturepack 16 bit to 32 bit? I say this simply because of the way the textures appear to me. Also is something in Optifine triggering this forced reload? Would explain Carmeops results as well as my own.
There is only 1 file to update.
It probably works with the Pistons as only the rendering module is updated.
To see more FPS try running in FAST mode.
OptiFog works by optimizing the rendering distance and fog type being used.
The difference in FAST mode is +80% for my PC.
There is smaller FPS gain in FANCY mode, but more terrain is clearly visible so even short rendering distances should look better and be playble.
Optimine optimizes the chunk processing and drawing + other fixes, but on my PC the difference is minimal (1-2 FPS). It seems to be more usable for older computers which struggle with Tiny and Short distances.
Now that i hopefully got your attention i want to say that it still leaks. At least for java on 64 bit. Java 8 is rather junk as of now, it makes minecraft load chunks slowly and make the game run sluggish. I tried alot of versions of forge, starting with the one suggested, and of course it didn't make a difference. If i try using java on 32 bit it works, but doesn't seem to let me allocate more memory. If i use on 64 it leaks. So there's a problem with your mod. You might wanna look into that

I'm having some issues with connected textures. I'm using the Faithful 32x32 texture pack with Optifine, but my glass/glass panes don't connect. I'm not using the Magic Launcher, ModLoader, or anything else similar (just moving files myself, I like that way better than installing additional mods); what files do I need to move and where do I need to move them?
EDIT: currently looking at the Connected Textures Mod, will see if this solves the problem. EDIT EDIT: It did! Can't believe that took me an hour to figure out...
Try being polite... he's making this on his own time and providing it for free. You can point out issues all you want, but don't do it in such an entitled way.
