Guys, that whole "get a better computer" ******** doesn't fly. I use this computer and I am still having the lag spike of death every three seconds. It isn't terrible but its enough to make me not play until its fixed. I'm not rushing sp, I'm just saying cut it out with "hurr durr your computer sucks" because mine doesn't and I still need this to make minecraft playable since I have OCD.
I can tell you my specs, and you won't believe me when I say it still lags every now and then.
Ya, my post was a bit of a joke as I've notice quite a few people complaining about how much more laggier minecraft has gotten with the new update.
I secretly kind of wish Notch would just dump Java(resource hog) and start up a port over to C++ if he has people that know the launguage. I think it would serve much better with memory management(client & server wise) and being more optimal all around.
They didn't release the API to make modding easier.

And as for people projecting "tomorrow" or "4-5 days at the most" for the release of the update, not to poop on your party, but I highly doubt it. sp is on vacation at the moment and we can only guess when he is coming back. Lets say he comes back in a week (I usually vacation for 3-4 weeks) then he has to wait for MCP to be updated, which's developers may very well be waiting for 1.8.1, 1.8.2, etc. before updating because it would be horrible if they worked hard to get the minecraft code unobfuscated and then a new update rolls out a week after they release the tools to help modding, thus undoing all of their work. Then, for the more complicated of his mods, sp has to figure out the new rendering methods and then figure out how (or even if) his mods will work with the new methods. After that, he has to start updating each of his mods, which could take a very long time. Especially since he has some mods that are taking priority over others. So I'd say that would take another week at least, and that's only if he is CONSTANTLY working on the mods. The reality of the situation is that it may be a while before these mods are fixed and released, and he may not even get right on fixing them when he gets back home. These modders have other parts of their lives besides minecraft. I know that I already have to deal with school, a job, regular social stuff like a girlfriend, friends, and other unforeseen events (my grandmother just died so I have a whole slew of things I need to do to prepare her funeral services and the likes). Then, after all of his real life obligations and problems, he may also want to wait for updates 1.8.1, 1.8.2, etc.
My suggestion would be to either play something else, go outside, or find a friend that didn't update to 1.8 and use his .jar for the time being.

tl;dr: It could take long. Chill out.
(so glad my post is at the top of the new page.)
So, where's the info? That's quite a big banner just for your opinion.
But I do agree with you.
I don't have any info. No one does. Because it's in the future, as in hasn't happened yet.
I just used that to get the drones to notice my post. Read the whole thing didn't you?
Of course I did, that's why I sarcastically asked where said info was. But anyway, I think you hit the nail on the head anyway. It'll be some time before this mod is updated. I'm fortunate enough to have a computer that can run 1.8 without any lag with the graphics as high as they go, unless I go fullscreen or startup fraps. The people who do get lag need to be patient and stop incessantly nagging for an update. It's not helping anything.

Well, I read your block of text and I read the manual for that, too.
Now, we can either get with the inbox notification spam, or will we actually just wait patiently for the eventual update and go about our day/night without much fanfare? I doubt it XD

Excited for "When it's done" to come.
Hands down, the best texture pack.
