In these step I will show you how to install Optifine with forge for Minecraft 1.7.10
Version numbers in the pictures may be different, don't mind that. Just follow the directions and you should be fine.
2.Run Minecraft Launcher , create a new forge profile.
2a. Type Forge in the Profile Name field.( don't type vanilla Ice)
2b.Select your version of forge from the drop down list ( your version may be different than the example) , and click save Profile.
4.Click Start on your windows task bar, in the search field type %appdata%/.minecraft
5.Place the Optifine.jar file into your mods folder. ( just drag and drop)
6. Launch Minecraft with the Forge Profile, you created it step 2. It should say Forge.
If you did this correctly you will see forge version numbers in the bottom left hand side of your Minecraft start screen. Also you will see a new mods selection. you will find Optifine in there.
I hope this helps. Have fun.
Please read the post and GO AWAY.
Play minecraft.
NOW
And yes, this works with the installer and all; the jar file just has some extra code that makes it executable and runs an installer, which otherwise has no effect when put into the Minecraft jar (the installer basically just automatically does the same steps you use when installing a jar mod).
TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
Oh I didn't know that I could put it into the jar thanks
Thank you too
Play minecraft.
NOW
Its good to use multiple profiles if you intend to run different versions of Minecraft. With different mods, or connect to different servers which use different mods .
First try reinstalling Java.
No change?
Reinstall Minecraft to a different folder example .minecraft2
Copy the folders ( saves, mods, and configs from .minecraft Place them in .minecraft2
Copy and paste your launcher profile from .minecraft to .minecraft2
Launch the game from the launcher in .minecraft2
If you want to try optifine again, i recommend that you make a backup.zip or .rar of the entire .minecraft2 folder. and follow my steps for installing optifine with forge.
at the very least, i think sp614x should at least change the donator perk to something else, like a hat or something, like the aether team did with their capes. they removed their donator capes, and the capes that you could get in game without donating, and changed them to pets to comply with the eula.
I do use multiple profiles; what I meant is that Optifine makes its own profile so if you already have separate profiles you may not want another (for example, my main profile, using my username, has "TheMasterCaversWorldv2" as the version used, saved to the default .minecraft directory; I also have one called "Testing" for other versions, saved in a different directory, and a (now unused) Forge profile from when I used Forge). In any case, installing into the jar is how I've always installed it, same for my own mods, so I might as well keep doing it that way, it really isn't much more complicated, taking a minute or less to install, rename, etc, seconds to put an update in or switch to a new jar when I do a major update (I'm actually not sure if the Optifine installer allows you to install it in an existing renamed jar and profile).

I tried with 1.7.04 too, can't even login using this launcher.
Detail windows shows just this line: Server returned 403 for: https://authserver.mojang.com/authenticate
I've asked the same in some of these mod's threads, no answer yet.
Interested in 1.7.2 & 1.7.10 versions of Optifine
yep, it is.
