since a large part of optifine will need to be rewritten from scratch for 1.8, would it just be better to completely rewrite all of optifine's code? i'm sure it would make things better in the long run
need to test to see if this occurs without Optifine. I do know Optifine has caused issues like this before though as well as weird things when it comes to certain mods.

Brace yourselves I have little over 160 mods here-snip-
SWEET MOTHER OF JEBUS.
Could you type a list? It would make it a bit easier to see what went wrong. And don't forget to put into a spoiler, or the post will take up the whole page.
Sorry, but most of us wouldn't like to take up our whole day testing which mods are incompatible FOR you. What you can do is remove all the mods but Optifine, and add them back one at a time until you see the problem again. Otherwise we can't help you.
Does that happen ONLY in Minecraft?
I suggest you try to play a high graphics game and see if that still happens.
If it does there are two problems:
GPU Critical Overheat
GPU is starting to decay rapidly.
------
AND if its none of the mentioned above,
Either One or more mods are conflicting with the way Optifine modifies minecraft. Such as the coding for having Random Mobs and Textures,
So probably anything that adds new textures and/or mobs/blocks ect.
But Id assume Minecraft would firstly crash if something like that had to occur anyways, It might show up as an error on your launcher if you are lucky, just keep an eye on it.

You can do it you can do it! xD As this is my favorite/the most helpful mod to me, I really feel like I should thank sp614x for being awesome and continuing the project even with the sheer amount of overhull 1.8 requires! Keep up the good work and don't overwork yourself with this! (The last thing I want to see is an unhappy programmer!)
That's a ... nice. If a bit spoiler-free. I don't see anything known to be problematic here. Still this does not answer the first obvious question. Did you actually test your game without Optifine to see if the glitches persist?
I can safely say that Optifine is the cause of the issue I was seeing. Without Optifine the issue doesn't occur, with Optifine it does occur.
A side not to sp614x, what's the deal with Optifine overwriting the SpawnerAnimals class and nuking forge's canEntitySpawn event? Neither of these moficiations to the code has anything to do with improving FPS performance and only serves to kill certain features in mods that allows certain mons to spawn. Like in Extrabiomes with their green swamp it allows the spawning of slimes in it. With optifine and the above changes it prevents said spawning.
I only say what I say because of what the developers of Extrabiomes have told me in their thread, they said those two things, the class one and the event one have nothing to do with FPS and yet they are still modified which doesn't make sense.

Ahh 20%. We are on our way. Hopefully everybody including me does assume that this is an estimate percentage. He could get stumped or hit a wall or something, but hopes are high. Keep it up

It shouldn't be hard to get a current crash report if the problem still exists!!!
On the off chance you realized your mistake, please delete/edit out the entirely too long crash report. You might even report your post (this one too) and ask a moderator to remove it/them!!!
