You sure it's not just your computer getting worst haha? Try giving minecraft more ram or updating some stuff. I'm on a dumb laptop with no graphics card and my fps has been the same with optifine since 1.2.5 to 1.6.2. It fluctuates from 20-40. Hasn't changed at all.
My computer is brand new, don't do much on it other than play Minecraft and watch YouTube, I take care of it, it's not my PC's problem.
I've given it ALL of my ram (didn't need to do that at all before) and nothing changes. I had a solid 75 FPS, now I'm stuck at 40 if I'm lucky, and it's definitely hard to look at when you're used to smooth images.

Seems excessive. I give mine 512M out of 4G, and I run at around 30fps. I don't personally notice any lag, but maybe its because I've never been spoiled on a really awesome pc, lol.
You managed to decompile and continue without me giving source code? O_O Bro, you are a god. Of course do whatever the [REDACTED] you want!!!! Good luck on it

I never noticed it either until the day I used Optifine and never looked back. But now, I don't have a choice, because it isn't making anything better, it lowers my FPS. I don't know if I can blame the creator though, I feel like since they changed a lot of how MC launches now, it's never going to be the same.
Help! Even though I used the fix, I still get Flickering (near redstone especially). The only mod that could cause this is Dynamic Lights... but Even when I remove that mod It still happens! I'm the admin of my comp, if that helps.
If you're having problems with Forge & Optifine, you can install them without touching the core .jar file
Here is how you do it:
Credit for this method goes to ntzrmtthihu777
who has got help from Jaden on esper/#minecraftforge (the right arg to use) and smbarbour for pointing out the tweet.
2. Navigate to your minecraft folder (%appdata%\Roaming for Windows), and enter the libraries\net folder
3. Create the following folders, .minecraft\libraries\net\minecraftforge\minecraftforge\9.10.0.789
4. Move the minecraftforge-universal-1.6.2-9.10.0.789.jar you just downloaded into this folder(9.10.0.789), and name the .jar: minecraftforge-9.10.0.789.jar
6. Navigate to your minecraft folder (%appdata%\Roaming for Windows), and enter the libraries folder.
7. Create the following folders: .minecraft\libraries\optifine\optifine\1.6.2_HD_U_A3
7. Move the OptiFine_1.6.2_HD_U_A3.zip still as a zip into this folder (1.6.2_HD_U_A3), and name the .zip: optifine-1.6.2_HD_U_A3.jar (it's a .jar now)
8. Go to .minecraft\versions, and copy/paste the 1.6.2 vanilla folder and name it Forge-1.6.2, then enter this folder and rename the jar to Forge-1.6.2.jar. Then rename the .json to Forge-1.6.2.json.
9. Open Forge-1.6.2.json (e.g. with notepad) and delete everything in it (Ctrl + A and delete). Now copy/paste the following text in it (in Forge-1.6.2.json) and Save the file.
10. Create a new profile in the launcher, tell it to use the Forge-1.6.2 version. Under Java settings, check JVM Arguments and add -Dfml.ignorePatchDiscrepancies=true after -Xmx1G or whatever you may have.
Save Profile, select your new profile and Play the game!

I've looked and looked and looked, and can't find an answer to this one. I figure it's gotta be somethign dumb I missed. Clean MagicLauncher 1.1.6 profile, pulled up the 1.6.2 profile, using the new HD Ultra B1 release of Optifine, try to start MC, and I get this;

So something in optifine prevents you being able to select certain resource packs.
With it installed, I was able to change to one of the resource packs I had installed (in this case strongstcraft) but not a different one i had (Love and Tolerance in this case).
After uninstalling it the problem went away.
No errors came up, it just would choose the default pack instead.
Hope you can figure out what is going on here and fix it.

Did you type in the JVM arguments listed in the install instructions on the 1st page?
It simply doesn't work for me. Is Optifine no longer compatible with Macs?
I followed the instructions perfectly, using Forge #784.
I deleted META-INF and entered the JVM arguments. This is the crash report I get after it seems to work and I get a black screen.

I followed the instructions perfectly, using Forge #784.
I deleted META-INF and entered the JVM arguments. This is the crash report I get after it seems to work and I get a black screen.

I noticed that the crash log says Forge is a suspicious class... I thought this was supposed to work with Forge? Does anyone know what the problem could be?
