uhh i have a suggestion...today while messing around with extreme distance i ran out of ram...so why not have an integrated ram allocator. it is kinda a pain to have the .bat file method everytime i want to play
I'm also curious to know if the missing texture issue with optifine installed, has been narrowed down yet. It may help to know that when it comes to enderstorage, the pouch texture is found and shows correctly without opti, but with opti it searches for a file location with a // instead of /, so of course doesn't find it. The other missing textures in mods don't output any debug though.

the mod seems to interfere with some forge mods, so far buildcraft, immibis's peripherals, and twilight forest - some of the textures become garbled, also the BC pipes seem to become skinned with random blocks instead of the normal texture. If there is a fix for this it would be much appreciated, as it has been an issue for most if not all the builds for 1.5. using forge 651
Just tested Forge #652 + BuildCraft 3.5.0 + OptiFine_U_C1.
All blocks and items seem to render fine.
i dont use optifine anymore, it decreas my fps, i use forge 652 and i get better fps without optifine now. before this optifine did increase my fps with 100%-1500%
i realy hope you will get a minecraft forge totaly compatible build and i also hope you will cooperate withe the forge people, they are nice people that would be happy to get a totaly forge compatible build, you could make a coremods version of your mod or something.

Um, i just wanted to say that i installed your optifine ultra mod and it keeps freezing whenever i play any world. I just wanted to let you know about this problem. Thanks for a awesome mod!
sp614x, do you recommend any alternate GCs or do you recommend sticking with the default?
I experimented with incremental GC as it should theoretically be smoother, but the results were mixed. The memory usage was more consistent, but there was a minimal FPS drop.
In vanilla the GC is not a significant FPS factor as vanilla does not allocate much memory in the rendering loop. The "Used Memory" in the debug screen (F3) increases relatively slow and gets reset from time to time. The recent Minecraft versions (1.4+) are getting worse, but it is still acceptable.
With Forge and many mods installed the memory usage is increasing fast and the GC has a lot of work to do. A better GC "might" help here.
To check if GC has an impact enable the lagometer, open the debug screen and look at memory used. If there is a significant lag spike when the used memory drops down (GC at work) then tweaking the GC may help. Otherwise leave it alone, as the tweaking can make it worse.
So, my minecraft is stuck on "Building Terrain" and I heard this was a optifine issue [which is what i am using] How do I fix this? I have B3 and the latest forge.
grey screen when i change the texture pack then, when i load minecraft i just get stuck at the logo screen. no crash log however, i enabled show log on magiclauncher and this is what i get:
...
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError
...
so it's a memory issue????
Start Minecraft with more memory.
Magic Launcher -> Setup -> Advanced -> Memory
Could you try the same with Industrial Craft 2? I used build 289, and get this (and I'm not the only one)
...
With only Forge, it is fine, as you can see on the next picture. FPS is also better without Optifine..
...
I found the problem, it will be fixed in next preview.
Many OptiFine settings can lower the FPS (AA, AF, CTM, Render Distance: Extreme, ...).
For a fair comparison:
- Video Settings -> Other -> Reset Settings
- Use the default texture pack - many texture packs use advanced functionality by default which may decrease FPS
More info, error log?
MagicLauncher is the best RAM allocator.
Fixed.
The post was made April 8, 2011... It's the second birthday lol.

He said beta. and it take 5 seconds and a google search to answer that.
Yes, it was a forge issue not optifine or buildcraft.
i would like optifine HD plz
I have the Forge version 7.7.1.652 with optifine C1 and BC 3.5.0 but my pipes are rendered as random blocks
I guess so, I've been following the same procedure for months to install all the mods I use (not many) and never had problems with any of them. =/
