I would love to know what's causing my problem, every texture loads up fine without Optifine. When I launch the game with Optifine installed, it becomes extremely buggy with a lot of textures missing. (The textures missing are not always the same, usually the GUI and some items but they sometimes show up after restarts)
A small suggestion.
AFAIK, in MC Classic the block under crosshair was highlighted, not encased into hair-thin wireframe (don't know if it was hardcoded or an option). Although it's not so now.
Dear sp614x, could you please put on your ideas list such thing as configurable highlighting for the block under cursor? Variations first on mind:
- Vanilla hair-thin wireframe, with configurable wireframe thickness
- Hair-thin glowing wireframe, with configurable thickness
- Full glow of block under cursor, with adjustable light increase
Hmm, I am still getting terrible frame rates in my base. Anyone know if any of the big mods have issues with causing excessive amounts of lag? All I have in my base is 4 max size Railcraft tanks, barrels, 4 coke ovens, 1 blast furnace, and some other random machinery. No >3 second timers either. I do have a couple xycraft blocks, dunno if that would cause it.
And yet I am still only getting 20fps max in my base but out in the world I am getting 50+. I also have a chunk loader in the area so I would assume its a graphical overload and not a CPU thing. (as the CPU thing would still be happening, just not rendering)
Oh and this is with optifine A2, will try A3 when I have the chance. I am also only using the vanilla texture pack.
Increasing ram from 1gb to 2gb gave me no significant performance increase at all.
-Specs- (not the best I know, budget issues and I reused a proc)
Can you post a way to reproduce the sign problem?
Something like:
- start new creative world, seed "xyz",
- fly 1000m east
- put a sign
- fly back, get spammed with sign message at coordinates XXX, ZZZ
Also best would be if no other mods except OptiFine are needed to reproduce it.
I've posted before, but it gets lost in the mess here. My experience is solely with Single Player Survival.
1.) Load existing world with signs. If I spawn within the chunk with signs, all is well, and signs appear normal.
2.) I move out of the chunk area. This only needs to be a few chunks away, perhaps as small as one or two.
3.) I move back into the original area with signs. The "Unable to Locate Signs" message appears for each of the signs in the affected chunks. The signs are now blank. Once signs are blank, they remain blank until restarting the game.
4.) Moving into any other chunks with signs results in the same; error messages and blank signs.
Some points:
Error happens whether walking on foot slowly, or using rails to move quickly into the affected area.
Affects any chunk with signs anywhere in the world. As you enter signed chunks on the other side of the map, they will have the same problem. Only signs within the spawn chunk are unaffected, so long as you stay within that chunk.
Problem occurs without ANY mods or ANY texture packs loaded, using vanilla plus default texture pack, with only OptiFine running.
I cannot replicate the problem by merely making a new world, planting signs, and walking around. It appears to require a populated world, probably of some size, with some level of detail. (My world is heavily detailed, many rail systems, moderate redstone, and covers a very vast area.)
Re-making the signs in the affected world has no effect; they suffer the same problem when you walk away and return.
Optifine chunk loading settings have no effect
The problem only appeared with 1.4.3, I believe.
If there's any other details you need, let me know. Others should post their experiences.

So there's no fix for this yet? I'm having the same exact problem. I was hoping it was fixed but I guess not :/
I should note that I'm currently running Minecraft 1.4.6 with optifine 1.4.6, if that helps, which i'm sure you already know.
OptiFine + TMI : noProblem
OptiFine + MinecraftForge#471 + TMI : crash on the move
error:
java.lang.IllegalStateException: TickNextTick list out of synch
On another hand, many thanks for changing myn, sp614x.
