I have discovered another bug. Not sure whether this is an Optifine or Vanilla bug, but when using an Enchanted Spade which has Efficiency III, after blasting through a load of dirt blocks, I get stuck when moving through where they were. And in one instance started to loose health when getting stuck.
This seems quite serious so I thought it needed reporting. If a video is needed, let me know as a screenshot does not show the problem :-)
This is a vanilla bug! Although I haven't experienced it myself (I have watched a few Twitch streams where this has happened) apparently when mining too quickly some blocks with appear to be broken when they really aren't. The blocks can usually be fixed by re-logging.
I'm not sure if Optifine would have anything to do with making it worse by chance but it could be possible...

I forgot to ask you when you first release Optifine for 1.9, does it still require "Threaded Optimisation" to be Disabled in the Nvidia CP like it used to with 1.7??? As well as AF and AA, also Nvidia CP side??? I remember Nvidia AF and AA used to cause issues with textures.

I hope they fix it soon. I wonder if AA & AF in Optifine could make this worse / less rare.
This is due to server lag. Optifine is client side, so it doesn't make a difference. This can also happen on singleplayer, since singleplayer uses an internal server.
Did you clear up the Optifine list? I can only see 1 version of Optifine per minecraft version, I am looking for a specific version because its the only one compatible with the mod I am using.
I followed the Complex Method of editing version files. I always used to do this and it always worked. Changed the 1.9 folder's name to 1.9opti, files' names also and edited the json file accordingly. Copied the zip over and removed meta-inf. Created new profile in the launcher. When I launch the game it downloads fresh 1.9 jar contents into my 1.9opti.jar, but leaves my edited 1.9opti.json. And the game launches into clean 1.9.
Maybe I did something wrong. But tried it twice already with the same result.
A recent launcher update added a "downloads" argument to the version json (for every version, not affecting already modded versions) and you have to remove it to prevent the launcher from redownloading the jar; this is listed as a bug on Mojang's bug tracker, which includes an example of what needs to be removed (only the one near the end that references the jar):
(I'm not sure how Optifine gets around this with its installer, perhaps it uses its own custom json file, which I've considered distributing with my own mods for the same reason. sp614x should update the instructions, especially since older versions, particularly before the installer was added, almost certainly will not work unless they updated them to reflect this change)
Alternatively, you could use a different launcher or even make a batch file although I don't see why you should have to do this just to run a mod (provided that Mojang doesn't ever declare mods to be illegal).
OMG, Wow! Thank you for the link, SunCat2000, +1 for you.
It is a Vanilla bug.... and it's been around for years It effects almost every version of Minecraft, how has it not been fixed, and how is this the first time I've ever seen it. It's happening to every single world I create whether default, super flat, custom or amped.
Oh man, it's really bad, 1st world prolems I know but it's completely ruining the game for me, it's terrible
I have attached a screenshot to show what I mean, using the default texture pack. It would be nice if the dirt path had the path texture on its side, making paths over hills more continuous.
I guess this would be a great addition to Better Grass (Grass top texture used on the sides of Grass blocks).
Here's my featured request that I hope sp614x could add to OptiFine.
When I use a shaderpack like Seus Shaders 10.1/10.2 Ultra or Sildurs Vibrant shaders extreme, my chunks are loading extremely slow and delayed.
So I'm walking in void pretty much and it takes a while for the chunks to load.
Forge 11.15.1.1722, Optifine 1.8.9_HD_U_H3
my performance settings:
Smooth FPS: Off
Smooth World: On
Fast Render: Off
Fast Math: Off
Chunk Updates: 5
Dynamic Updates: ON
Lazy Chunk Loading: Off
My Render Distance is set to 24
Changing these doesn't do much.
also no matter what texture pack I use.
I also allocated 8GB of memory for Java.
I doubt that my Rig is too slow to handle this because I never had these issue even with a slower PC.
CPU: i7-3770K
GPU: GeForce GTX 980 TI
RAM: 16GB DDR3
OS: Windows 10 64 bit
anyone know what the issue might be?
Hey, I have an almost identical rig to you except for OS, so I might be able to offer some advice *Possibly*. (Disclaimer: This is NOT a showing off post or a "Mine is better", I'm merely explaining my thoughts)
I run a 3770K also, but I have delidded mine, lapped and polished the IHS and used pure Gallium liquid metal as TIM (Thermal Paste), plus I run a massively overkill custom water loop. So at 1.410v I run mine at 5.0GHz dead on with no base clock increase. Plus a 980Ti with custom BIOS also on a custom loop @1590MHz on the core.
Still, even with those overclocks, with MC 1.9, Optifine, modded SEUS 10.1 Ultra DOF and only a 128x texture pack, I can still only run my render distance at 22 maximum, mostly I run 20 to stop sub 60fps dips and slow chunks.
Now add onto that, you are running Win 10 which a lot of people at having a lot of trouble with, not just Minecraft but many games. I saw a thread last week of people all complaining of sub 30fps on rigs like yours and mine, all because of Win 10.
So although it doesn't look as good, I know, but reduce your render distance by 2 or 4, and see how much of a difference it makes.
Also, have you set "Javaw.exe" to Prefer maximum performance in Nvidias CP?? Or tried tweaking Threaded Optimisation in the Nvidia CP also.
Only my cents dude, just thought I'd mention it as we have twin rigs almost.
Uhm you probably misunderstood my post.
I'm not having performance issues. The chunks are just loading slowly when using a shaderpack.
It takes a few minutes for most of the chunks to load so that I can see the distance.
And even when everything is loaded I'm still getting full 60fps.
So framerate is not the issue.
And you misunderstood him.
Your CPU loads the chunks, the GPU renders them. So if chunks aren't loading then you're pushing your CPU too hard by trying to load that many chunks at once. And once it's overloaded it tends to glitch out, where changing the settings in-game doesn't seem to work.
Drop to 16, restart, check it's still on 16, then load a world. After that you can bump it up until you notice laggy chunk loading.

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone can assist me with an issue I have with Optifine's Custom Colors and my resource pack. For years I've used MCPatcher and everything has worked perfectly, but since MCPatcher is practically dead I switched. Now, I use a lot of custom colors and such in my pack, but when I use it with Optifine it glitches out and turns everything on my screen pink/purple/blue (Picture below) does anyone know what could be causing this? If you need to look in my pack's files, it can be found here:http://www.planetminecraft.com/texture_pack/legouni-craft/
I have a question, and I've tried searching a bit in this thread, but I found no answer... What's the difference between water/lava animations being "on" and being "dynamic"? (Is there even a difference?)
There is no difference and the Dynamic should be removed.
I did that and its exactly the same issue.
Its fine when I turn shaders off though..
I never had this issue, even on a slower computer with an i5-2500 and a GTX 770 shaders were perfectly fine.
Hmmm, this is curious. Try this for a min:
Run a couple of hardware monitoring apps that you can check for your CPU, RAM & GPU usage.
Start MC with the shaders Enabled for a couple of minutes, then tab-out and check your usage.
Then Disable the shaders and check the usage again.
Let me know if there is any change or fluctuation.
Just in case you don't have any installed: I highly recommend HWinfo 64 which does Everything, literally monitors every single component. Or MSI Afterburner for GPU and RealTemp for CPU.

The resource pack has an invalid lightmap.
The "assets\minecraft\mcpatcher\lightmap\world0.png" is 64 x 128, the allowed sizes for lightmaps are N x 32 or N x 64 (https://bitbucket.org/prupe/mcpatcher/wiki/Lightmaps).
The 32 high lightmap has sky light and torch light, the N x 64 has additionally sky and torchlight for nightvision.

Hai Derr ;D
Click the box halfway down the first post "Even Older Versions"
Holy ugliness riding a pigman! Every world I create seems to made of 90 degree right-angles and perfect straight lines!
Is this a new Optifine bug??? This can't be normal for MC 1.9 surely?!

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
Isn't it MC-315?

This would make the Mushroom Island blend more and the others too.

What chunk distance did you set? And did it show the correct setting when you hit F3 in-game (D:16) ?
Did you run 24 chunk view distance on your i5-2500?
