I have had this problem the past few MC versions, but til now I decided to post it. But a couple settings like Lazy Chunk Loading, Smooth World, etc. I will switch off, and click again, and all I hear is the click but they won't switch to on.
Hey, I'm sorry for coming up with an idea to implement in Optifine, but since Nvidia released Dynamic Super Sampling on a lot of other graphic cards it would be neat to have a more adjustable GUI size, something like a slider for that, considering also that supersampling and downsampling are also available on other cards.
That's one feature that would be really neat, because on downsampled 4K resoulution your GUI is really small or really big (on auto size).
The other feature, that isn't a must have, is the mouse speed while in the GUI, on high res the mouse is awefully slow, but the higher speed while being on a GUI can also be done with the macro mod.
Would be really cool if you can manage to implement that, maybe more people would play on downsampled and it wouldn't need antialiasing!
There's already a GUI setting. The auto is kinda goofed.

Anyone know whats up?
If you computer doesn't support a setting or doesn't need it, Optifine will lock that setting.
Holy Cow. Really stunning FPS improvement, particularly when moving. 1.8 vanilla was significantly faster for me than 1.7 vanilla, but only when standing still. When moving it took a nosedive. With Optifine it's just as fast when moving, without sacrificing the much faster chunk loading from 1.8.
I haven't really been too down on Mojang before, but this time.. man. They've had months to get familiar with the massive internal changes (which they also of course created) while you've had much less time, but you've still been able to wring better performance out of it. I just don't know what's going on over there.
I'm using Magic Launcher to run Minecraft with Optifine and in the Setup window, when I have Optifine 1.8 selected, it says next to it "1 errors."
Should I play with Optifine anyway? I don't know what this 1 error is. I have the Environment and Minecraft.jar set to 1.8.
Magic Launcher has been outdated for some time now. The "errors" really don't mean anything usefull unless you have over 20 errors or so. If you launch it and it works, then you don't need "errors."
Hey, I recently updated forge to v10.13.2.1235, and now the textures of a couple of mods have disappeared completely. For example almost all of the textures of Carpenters Blocks, and the marble and limestone textures of Chisel. Both in my inventory and when placed. When I'm exploring a cave which has marble or limestone, I get some sort of X-ray effect where I see the whole cave behind it, rather then just the block behind it, and I don't like that because it feels like cheating. When I remove optifine this texture issue is gone. I love optifine, so I hope that this issue can be fixed and I will be able to continue playing with Optifine!
Hello, i have a problem with optifine in 1.7.10 and mods, i have test all version of optifine ultra, normal or light, how fix this? A lot of blocks of mods are flat and i can't see all the block when i place it on the ground :/
This screen is for custom npc but for thaumcraft or other is the same :/

Sp, a common fps bug that is in 1.8 (possibly a bit weaker in 1.7, not totally sure though) that optifine A5 doesn't fix is firework particles.
Every time a firework is used, the particle effect causes a major lagspike of 1-2 fps for the length of the appearance of the particles in proximity of them being loaded in (without directly looking at them). Now, if you cannot fix the actual frame bug, could you add an option to disable firework particles under 'animations' then? I also don't believe that setting the particles to minimal removes the particles/spike, nor do I want to keep it on minimal sorely for the fireworks.
Also, the memory usage still goes up to 100% progressively after around an hour or two of gameplay (memory spikes happen when any small fps spike occurs, usually by 5% on a 1G allocation). Kind of weird/annoying thing is that if the memory does go to 100% (which doesn't give an 'out of memory error', just a huge lag spike every time it hits the 100% [since it drops down a few percentages after the spike, then starts to climb again]), I can just go and close MC and reopen it with the same launcher, and it goes down to 25% max again, even though there was minimal-no resting time for memory.
the latest version is not compatible with the realms servers anymore it seems
No, what happens is Mojang releases tiny updates that have no version numbers when you launch the game. Since Optifine doesn't update automatically, you're outdated. What you have to do is run Vanilla 1.8 again, run the Optifine installer again, and run the Optifine instance.
Question from a noob father trying to help his son.
I have successfully installed Forge, JourneyMap, and an Xray mod in 1.7.10 using the same profile. However when I went to install Optifine it automatically created an 'Optifine' profile that does not include the previously two mentioned mods.
How can I reinstall Optifine so that both JourneyMap and the Xray mod are included under the Optifine umbrella?

You might not be aware of it but x-ray it's a cheating tool that gives the user advantage over other players in Minecraft. It's an unfair way to play and most people don't give support to those who use cheats in the game.
X-ray allows the player to see through blocks and allows him to reach for the most valuable resources in the game. This is Minecraft, and the name itself says it all, it's a game about mining and finding resources. If you have an unfair tool installed to see and reach them right away, when others around you or him might take hours or days to get them, would you find that reasonable and fair?
Most people here do not support cheating mods nor give support to those who have them at all for them giving an unfair advantage over other players.
Thanks for your guidance, and well shoot...He is too young to go onto servers, but for the sake of being fair I would guess I can remove this mod by removing the xray .jar file in the mod folder. Correct?
So, after I do that, how can I get Optifine and JourneyMap to work together? I tried searching, but am still trying to understand this all.

Double click on your Forge jar file and it should make a Forge profile. Next navigate to your .minecraft folder (If you don't know how, type %appdata% into Windows Explorer and you'll see it there). There should be a 'mods' folder once you've run Minecraft with Forge. Put Optifine and JourneyMap into that folder and run the Forge profile again. You should have both mods loaded if everything went well.
Please reply back if you got it, or didn't get it to work.
Even though some players use xray because the game is too hard. I assure you, once he learns to play Minecraft, it'll be more fun when he find's his first diamonds, etc, in my opinion.
it now works and thanks for the info. i kinda feel dumb now that it was as easy as dropping the .jar file into the mods folder under Forge. doh!
on the xray mod- i agree with you both and was a bit reluctant to show this to him. however, we loaded his world and i proved to him that there were the ores he wanted to mine in his world, he just has to mine like i do. i then showed him how i missed some ore in my world by not being careful. (hey, dad's can play too.) i then deleted the mod and all seems well. when he has a lull i will do a clean install as you recommend.
This would be a huge benefit to me (and other modeller).
This may be possible.
Anyone know whats up?
There's already a GUI setting. The auto is kinda goofed.
If you computer doesn't support a setting or doesn't need it, Optifine will lock that setting.

Thank you very much!
Go to your %appdata%\.minecraft\versions folder and remove HD_U_A5, then start minecraft up and play 1.8, and then re-install optifine.
This will update your realms and then install optifine to the new minecraft with the latest realms.

(hey, dad's can play too.) i then deleted the mod and all seems well. when he has a lull i will do a clean install as you recommend.
thanks to you both, i really appreciate it.
