What can I do to fix this?
How do I "prefer Java" in the control panel?
"2. Set the Java process to higher priority" How?
"4. Update LWJGL from here." What is this?
"5. Lauch Minecraft with less memory" How?
A quick Google can solve all of these problems. In no more than a few minutes.
2. Open Task Manager -> Right-click on javaw.exe -> Scroll to "Priority" -> Set it higher than default "Normal"
4. It is the source files that Minecraft uses. Google with give you the answers faster than forum members will. The link given links to the LWJGL anyway, so clicking on it would show you what the heck it is.
5. Create a batch file to open the Minecraft.exe file. Alternatively, use launchers such as MagicLauncher.

Thank you both for helping. I did all of these things and there's no change to my FPS. Its still running around 30FPS. I should be running Minecraft/Optifine like a champ! What is going on?
Hey! How can i put "FOG=OFF" feature to 1.7.3? I´d really like playing that version, but fog lags like hell. How can i toggle it off? Can i just use Optifine 1.4.4 file, wich does it? Does it work?
The option Fog: OFF is available in OptiFine for 1.8.1 and newer.
Only Optifine for 1.7.3 can work with Minecraft 1.7.3.
OptiFine D2 Ultra for Minecraft 1.4.4 and 1.4.5 is out:
What is new:
- compatible with Forge #374
- fixed falling in void when loading a world
- fixed chat not wrapping long lines correctly
- fixed crash when riding pigs with Forge installed
Nevermind on my comments above! I posted prematurely. When I first log into Minecraft, I get around 30FPS. But after about 3 minutes of play my FPS ramps up to around 215 on render distance +174. I'm not sure why it does that? oh well....
When I reach the end of my render distance, I thought I'd let you know that mobs fall through the un-rendered space, and the weather button is kind of glitchy in HD Ultra D1, because lightning still strikes, and it'll rain for 3 seconds and then stop.
Check that, it happens in D2 as well. Occasionally the weather will become active in the form of lightning, and then, about 10-20 seconds later, it will suddenly start raining, and then slowly fade away right away.

This is the integrated server which does a lot of house cleaning when the world starts.
A side effect of using a server in single-player mode.
Although I do love Optifine, it will not work with modloader. I noticed when I tried to install using MCpatcher, it says that both files have the baq.class, which means it will not install Optifine. How can I resolve this?

I was wondering if you would consider constructing this mod to work with forge, because I think my problems are rising from this mod having to be in the minecraft jar.
Would it be possible to add a feature that makes it so signs don't render their text unless your close to them? Some computers (*cough* like mine*) have really bad fps when your in an area with a lot of signs with text on them. Back in 1.2.5 there was a mod that did this and it really helped a lot.

That doesn't necessarily make a mod not work. I have about 11 mods that are installed in my jar and there aren't any conflicts. You just have to install them in the right order so that class file conflicts don't cause your mods to break. From what I use, this is the order that I install my mods:
1) Zombe's Pack
2) ModLoader
3) TooManyItems
4) World Downloader
5) Rei's Minimap
6) Optifine
7) Xray n DTDB
8) WorldEditCUI
9) a chest finder mod I made myself that doesn't overwrite any base class files
I've not had any problems with conflicts ever since I have played with all of these mods.. It's just that you have to get the order right for it to work. Note: there are probably some conflicts with Zombe's crafting things and TooManyItems, but I only use Zombe's for 3D fly, increased run speed, light level, and pathing.
On a different note (not to the person I am replying to), 1.4.5??? The current version of Minecraft is 1.4.4.
when I turn off fog and go underwater its really clear no tint of blue at all except the surface of the water can you fix this it makes it's the only thing in the mod that bothers me
This is probably one of the best mods out there. The ability to adjust the fine details of the game comes in very handy and reduces lag TREMENDOUSLY. I highly recommend this one.

OptiFine 1.7.3 is not developed anymore.

You can't ask for updates. It's against forum rules.
