Relax! I'm just curious. I want to know if I should wait another day or 2 for it, or if I should just get one of the current builds. Stop being so cranky :l

I did not ask them to update the mod, I did not demand them to update their mod. I never asked if there will be another update for the mod. I never asked when there will be another update either. I asked when they estimated the current update to be finished. Perhaps even give out a development roadmap!
Even then, it's quite a silly rule, but I understand why the added it.
All I asked were 2 simple questions. If my questions were that sadistic, then I guess people who use these forums need some time off to relax a bit.
But whatever, we shouldn't continue discussing this further because it's derailing the thread, and this isn't the appropriate place for such a discussion.
It's not that your question was sadistic - it simply isn't allowed. And for good reason - developers don't know when their work will be done, so the answer to the ETA question will be "I don't know" EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. So there's no point in asking
And if, on the other hand, the developer *thinks* the work will be done by a certain time, and states as much in reply to the ETA question, then he'll have a lot of pissed off self-entitled users crying when he misses the deadline... so developers don't set themselves up for that kind of headache - it's not worth the risk.
So the conclusion to all of that is that there is never a good reason to ask for an ETA, nor is there ever a good result - at worst, people get out the torches and pitch forks, and at best, the pleasant surprise of the next release is ruined. And it's always better to be pleasantly surprised than to be disappointed, right?

Which is pretty much as said before:
You simply say: "No ETA at this time".
I could understand if I or someone else was being an a**hat when asking that.
8 off-topic replies could have been avoided if someone had simply said that there wasn't an eta:P
You forgot the other reason for using Java in the first place. It's portable across platforms, or is supposed to be. You don't have Windows Minecraft and Mac Minecraft and Linux Minecraft, you just have Minecraft, with a unified API and the Java under it being specific for each platform. If you switched to C++, you'd either lose that, or have to program that same API for each platform, and then have the MC code call that. Of course you also have issues with the need to be recompiled, etc. JGranted, Java's still not *quite* as portable as it should be, but it's getting there.

When someone asks me when I'm going to release an update to the mod I write (for a different game) I say "When I'm done with it." And if they're really impatient about it, "Do you want it done right now, or right later?"

You don't understand - asking for an ETA is against the rules, period. It doesn't matter how you ask, simply asking is what makes you an asshat.
And since it has already been established that the answer would ALWAYS be "no ETA, it's done when it's done," there's no point in asking, ever - there are no stupid questions, except the ones for which you already know the answer
I was testing CTF support for Better Foliage when I noticed the following:
It seems CTF texture rotations are incorrect on the north and east block faces. However, I have no idea if it's an OptiFine bug, or the fault of the resource pack.
Of course, the Universe being the kind of place it is, I only saw this after I already "fixed" Round Logs in BF, thinking it was a bug in my renderer...
MC 1.9, Forge 1811, OptiFine B1 and John Smith Legacy 1.9.1 v1.4.1 pack.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
BetterFoliage (1.7.10, 1.8, 1.8.8, 1.8.9, 1.9, 1.9.4, 1.10) - Leafier leaves and grassier grass CartLivery (1.6.4, 1.7.x) - Pimp your minecarts
For modders: simpledeobf - get OptiFine in your dev environment
So I've noticed that the current download page linked from the OP for the 1.9 preview does not work: the page displays 'file not found' when I click on the 'download' link.
The download DOES work when linked to from the 'Downloads' page on the website, but I figured I'd let ya know that the link on this thread's OP isn't directing people to the file for some reason.

Thanks for the mod!
That's because the link on the OP is for a beta release that no longer exists. The one on the OptiFine website is the official release. Sp614x forgot to update the OP to that version.
I could be wrong, but I always thought the offset sun was to mimic the natural sun in parts of the globe as well as causing shadows to behave better than when the sunlight is directly perpendicular to all blocks.
I'm a little confused. Are GLSL shaders supposed to be built into OptiFine? Because any time I turn on the internal shaders, there is no perceptible difference in the visuals except that the lighting looks washed out. Is there something additional I'm supposed to download?

The off-topic replies are your fault. What use is an ETA anyway?
Anyway... the current B1 version is stable. I haven't experience any crash that wasn't because of mod incompatibility.
Thanks! I'll try it & see if I can find any issues as well

Asking for an ETA is the exact same thing as asking when there will be an update.

Wow, I'm still figuring out this "Minecraft Forum thing" and I made a post instead of a reply/quote. Just ignore.
Hmm, I seem to be having the same problem with all of my packs too. It must be an early 1.9 OptiFine bug. I hope it gets fixed. Really annoying.

@Sedridor
The offset is defined inside the shaderpacks/[zip file]/shaders/Composite.fsh:
