Well, I'm creating a resource pack, and everything works fine with textures and sounds being replaced by the ones in the pack, but I'm not getting random textures for the mobs.
For instance, using zombie.png, zombie2.png, zombie3.png, etc, doesn't work, and the zombie uses the default Minecraft texture instead.
Unless I'm missing something, I was under the impression that once enabled in Optifine, it would pick one of the skins at random.
I know it worked in earlier versions, and seems to be linked to the new resource packs.
Unless, like I say, I'm doing something wrong, in which case, how should I do it.
You can take a look at one of the other resource packs with Random Mobs that work and see how they do it.
I know you're hard at work with forge compatibility, but I'd like to ask what Optifine's next feature will be. If you are considering this, or are undecided, I would recommend the CIT from MCPatcher, for completely biased reasons.
A lot of players on the server I run use Optifine, and with good reason. Without it, they can barely play, some only being able to do so by my personally visiting them and installing it for them (I know many computer illiterate people irl, and their siblings). One of the big things I've been working on and pushing for the server, is a resource back with CIT. Plenty of extra items and armor have already been added, and with an RPG plugin, are made to have distinct traits. Its a vanilla-connectable server that has completely new weapons, armor, and tools, each with varying effects...
... for a select few who use MCPatcher.
Anyways, This post is my ballot cast for CIT being the next feature for Optifine. Keep up the great work ;D
Well, not a very helpful answer.
This thread is full of people talking about the random mobs not working, and you yourself a while back said "I have not tested if RandomMobs work in the preview", and it appears it didn't get tested later on either.Some people mention usingMCPatcher, and setting it up for that mod.
The OptiFine's Random Mobs should work.
Just tested with Sphax, Misa's and Soartex Fanver resource packs and the mobs are properly randomized.
I know that OptiFine_1.6.2_HD_U_B5 is a pre-release but I thought you would like to take a look at this error. I get it when I try to start MC, it immediately crashes to the launcher error screen.

You have forgotten to add "-Dfml.ignoreInvalidMinecraftCertificates=true -Dfml.ignorePatchDiscrepancies=true" in the JVM Arguments (Java Parameters).
Try reinstalling, it looks like you deleted the other files in the minecraft.jar
You can also try using one of the no-.jar-modifying methods
Magic Launcher doesn't work on Mac OSX 10.5.8 so I have to. Forge just made my problems worse. However, I'll try your suggestion of re-installation until sp can come up with something.
EDIT: Still having the same crash no matter what I do.
When i got and play on mc with any of the optifines for the launcher my screen looks like this Why can i only see mobs. When i didn't have the mod in i could see all the blocks.
Sp614x, Can you fix this mc bug? https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-10323 Basically its a enchanted item glow bug when close up, it kills FPS down to 1-3, Apparantly its fixed with BFG.class replacement i found online but my AV Says its a virus, scanned online and its a virus, so could you like... work your magic and fix it?
(And if you cant, maybe add some way to remove the enchanted glow & colour client side?)

ModeratorIt's because of the windows graphics time out. To fix it you need to bump the time-out time more to about 10 seconds or so...
I do not have that option at all.
I have the mip map level, type, better snow, better grass, clear snow etc .. but there is no AA in quality settings.
the good news:
- ModularPowersuits work fine(fast test)
- ProjectRed dont crash on creative tabs.
