In my opinion is to making this mod an unnecessary work.
Instead Mojang should hire you officially.
No, Mojang should wake up and realise their obfuscation technique is pointless and only hinders innovation and hinders the amount of time a mod comes into existance.
its not like the code to minecraft is really being "hidden" anymore, its just being made "annoying".
The primary reasons I can think of as to why you would want to obfuscate the code are now pretty much negated by the reverse engineering team.
Why can't they just realise this and just be less of a **** about it?
Or if they want to keep being dicks, give a hand-full of mods NDA-protected access to the source so they can either
A) Make mods for minecraft without having to wait for the dickish 1-week-to-a-month wait time Make mods that generalise things and produce a public API for other mods to use so there's none of this stupid hoop jumping every release.
It depends on other factors than only your computer specs.
A few examples are:
How much available free ram you have.
What mods you have installed.
If your drivers are up-to-date.
If your Java and LWJGL are up-to-date.
What is surrounding you in your world (lots of trees? lots of mountains? flat desserts? etc?).
The settings you wish to use in OptiFine (it's a balance between performance vs. aesthetics based on your own personal preferences which are different for each person).
Again, that's just a few examples.
As for multi-core vs. smooth, multi-core tends to load world chunks a bit faster from most people's experience. So, that also goes back to things like what is in your surroundings in the world you're in.
Regardless, you should definitely see an overall performance boost.
If you want to try it out without having to make much effort, use Magic Launcher. You can temporarily add it to the list and then either disable or remove it all together without ever modding your actual minecraft.jar file.

It is pretty ridiculous how many pages of "PLEASE UPDATE UR MOD PLOX" and "OMFG STOP PESTERING MCP ISNT EVEN OUT YET STFU" one has to flip through to find useful information on this forum.
Yea but don't forget one major thing people who do posts like that doesn't know how to spell correctly, and want people to see there own failure at the English language.
Though that is my take on people who type like that.

I refuse to play Minecraft without my Optifine. Can't wait till it's out! Take your time though... No need to rush anything and make it so you have to go back in and do more work.
