It looks to me like se.class that might be causing the problem with hires fonts now
PS: after posting this reply I tested leaving out the se.class filer from the optifog optimine 1.6.6 and everything appears to be working properly with the font. so i'm wondering what does the se.class file actually handle in the optifog optimine 1.6.6.
The se.class is the fast FontRenderer from Optimine. It is most propbably not compatible with HD-Fonts.
You can leave it out, there are no other side effects.
So, I searched through and didn't see anything about this small hangup. It's not a huge issue, but the lighting is slightly messed up in the Nether. Taken from the wiki:
In the Nether, light decreases by 10% each level, rather than the normal 20%. This means it will never be totally dark in the Nether. The minimum light value is 20.59%, providing a permanent dim ambiance equivalent to normal world's level 8.
However, with OptiFog + Optimine installed (I have both installed together), the Nether's light looks like it acts the same way it would in the Overworld. It's not so important that it must be fixed asap (like the last Nether bug), but I think it's something you'd like to know.

I have an issue that needs fixing: The first time I added this mod, I could play on Far and Fancy. As the days pass, the FPS seem to be decreasing. Now I'm back to normal again. Suggestions?

It seems that every time I have used any version of this, even back when it first came out, if anything it increased the lag of my computer. I have no idea why though. Anyone have any idea on what I'm doing wrong (if anything)?

Could you by chance make a merge of the class files for this and Dynamic Lights? The author of that mod has tried but says without your source it seems he won't be able to do it properly, however his source is available in the download so you should be able to do it with relative ease.
Playing since Beta 1.3_01. Yeah. I like BTW. Or used to. Still do. Stuff Technic. (Back in the day...)

If I remember right, that's always been like that in the game? (At least, what I've seen since the last couple of 'stable' releases by Mojang.)
No, it's not. I went to the OptiFog only version and it's fine now. It's a problem with Optimine, and Optimine didn't always used to be like that, something changed somewhere along the line.
I don't even have a old computer, mine's about a month old. Does this help fps issues that are caused by recorders? I have an average fps of 10 but when I start recording I get 4 fps MAX.

Some people use thought as an escape from contributing in life.
Im having a bit of trouble with getting this to work. I'm on a mac, so the mac instructions tell me to make a "backup" of the minecraft.jar file. I'm not sure if this means duplicating or copying it. I've tried copying the .jar and then followed the instructions, but minecraft fails to load and I just get a black screen.
Heres the mac instructions:
1) Locate your minecraft.jar file. On Mac, it's in <home>/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin
2) Create a backup of minecraft.jar
3) rename minecraft.jar to minecraft.zip and double-click it to extract the contents
4) rename the resulting folder to minecraft.jar and open it
5) copy the .class files from the downloaded zip into the minecraft.jar folder, replacing previous files
6) Run Minecraft and test!
At number 2 I've tried to just copy the .jar file (what I presume "backup" means) then continue to mess with the original one renaming it to minecraft.zip
I feel stupid needing to have "backup" defined here for me, but I'm at a loss here.

Why not download it and see? if the class files begin with mod_ then you need it. if it is 2 letter classes then you dont.

Thanks, I will take a look at it.

Seen that before using optimine too.

Many rely on that mod.
