Im not convinced this even works. My game is running even slower now then before...
You either didnt do it right, or have some other unrelated mod problem. I just threw this on all 5 of my computers and doubled performance on most, and had noticable increase on others.
A couple computers cant even play MC without this mod.

well followed the instructions exactly. Deleted the meta-inf in minecraft.jar and placed the .class files only into it. This is really my only mod on decides modloader
WEll, I am running 1.4_01. Opened my backed up minecraft.jar. Deleted the Meta-Inf folder. inserted the new files using winrar.
...
All I see is a black screen where I should be seeing the game. What did I do wrong? As far as I can tell this has broken my MC.. sniff
Are you using a backed up .jar or are you using the jar in %appdata%/.minecraft?

There are not enough negative words in the English dictionary to describe how bad this is.
For people encountering a black screen, if you're on a mac could you open Console.app and include the Java exception that gets printed when you try to run minecraft. It'll look something like this:

I'm not sure how to get at this info on a Windows machine. Anyone know?
For the transparent world problem ... um ... yeah ... not sure what to suggest besides not using it. I don't really know how this mod works, I just updated it for 1.4.

I was using a trial of winrar. I have since tried renaming the jar file to .zip and opening with win7's built-in compression tool. Same black screen. I then did some research and found that I could use jar to unpack, and then repack the files using:
I had previously posted in wrong thread oops, sorry...
It lags like crazy whenever I destroy blocks (1.4_01 of course), but I mean I don't really need optimine anymore, i'm just a fps freak, I already use cafmod w/fogfix for my crap-driver ridden sandy bridge gpu...

Just tried it again and it went to black. Again. Not that big into java right now but may the error suggest that something went wrong while packing it? I'm going to try out some more packers. This JAR was packed with Betterzip.

Are you using a backed up .jar or are you using the jar in %appdata%/.minecraft?
I'd attach a picture if it let me. i dont want to go through the trouble of making an account on some image hosting place just for one.
Besides, there is a perfect example on page 2. So what do?
Also thanks for going through the trouble of updating this.

Okwm:
I copied my minecraft.jar file to another folder and then modified the one in my ./minecraft/bin folder.
AnrDaemon:
Thanks! I will run that now.
inio:
I ran the batch file and it spit out that I have a corrupt jar file.

But the funny thing is, when I run the bat file with the original jar file, which does go all the way into the game mind you, I get:
