After HOURS of play I have one of each animal in my little farm place, except a pigglet :S
I havent seen one, anfter HOURS, it's so wierd xD
Yes, in my attempts to keep tamed babies from de-spawning, I seem to have inadvertently made it so that none of the babies de-spawn, tamed or not . This keeps new animals from spawning because the spawn limit set by the game is choked up with the babies *sigh*. It was a simple goof-up and I believe I have fixed it, but I want to test it further to avoid posting another "fix" that is actually broken somewhere else. I'm hoping to have an update in a day or so.
In the meantime, as horrible as it sounds, you can go hunting and clean out the surrounding area until the animals you are looking for have room to re-spawn (or you can uninstall the mod if it really bothers you.) Keep this in mind if you create a farm of tame animals, it will keep other animals from spawning. Monsters and water creatures have their own spawn limits, so I believe they will still spawn even if the animal count is maxed out.
Thanks everyone for your patience and enthusiastically kind comments while I stumble through this!
Update - Pretty sure the spawning/de-spawning is fixed for real this time. I spent a lot of time running around whacking babies :sad.gif: that were tamed, untamed, following, etc, and Kills disappear properly. Tamed babies stay in the game and untamed de-spawn like any other mob, so other animals should show up again when you are exploring away from home.
Also, now babies can become functional tame adults if you give them a cake, so an actual farm is possible. Think Miracle Potion in SNES Harvest Moon... Details in the OP.
There was even going to be a party for you. A big party. That all your friends were invited too. I invited your best friend the companion cube. Of course, he couldn't come because you murdered him. All your other friends couldn't come either, because you don't have any other friends. Because of how unlikeable you are. It says so right here in your personal file: UNLIKEABLE, liked by no one, a bitter, unlikeable loner, who's passing shall not be mourned, SHALL NOT BE MOURNED. That's exactly what it says. Very formal. Very official. It also says you were adopted, so thats funny too.
The babies don't appear to want my cake. Is there something else that needs to be done?
They need to be tamed first with wheat.
Army of colored sheep!
As this seems to be pretty stable now, I'm working in some more Harvest Moon inspired features based around the medicine item, or in this case lightstone dust.
You will be able to use it to:
[*:2yn296e9]restore full health to your animals
[*:2yn296e9] grow sheep fur back immediately
[*:2yn296e9]and in honor of the SNES 'medicine glitch', if an animal is due to have a baby, giving it lightstone dust will make the baby appear immediately (or a chicken will lay an egg immediately.)
[*:2yn296e9]One dose will cover all possible uses, i.e. a shorn pregnant sheep will grow back it's fur and bear a lamb.
I'm also planning on making eggs only produce chicks since it's possible now to have tame adults that can lay more eggs for you, and making newborns tame by default (so if you are away from home when they are born they don't de-spawn.) Wild caught babies will still need to be tamed.
Lastly, I'm going to crank up the number of animals that can spawn a little bit so that having a farm doesn't cause the rest of the world to not have any animals (It's currently capped at 15, so I'm probably going to bump it up to 30. Numbers greater than that cause a ruckus you wouldn't believe.)
Assuming there are no glaring issues, I expect to have these changes available in a few days.
If you pack any more cute or awesome into this mod, I may just explode with delight.
I think I'm nearing the limit! It might be nice to add items like shears and actual medicine instead of 'pretending' with existing items, but I don't want to go too crazy with this either. And oh god, when the tamable wolves are added by Mojang I have no idea how that's going to affect this mod. Hopefully it will not have been all for naught.

I gave them wheat. They won't eat anymore yet cake doesn't seem to work on them. I'll give it another go here in a minute though, maybe I was missing something.

Which babies are refusing cake? Maybe it's another thing I missed...
Should figure out a way to make wild wolves be able to attack the other animals :tongue.gif:
Depending on how the wolves are coded, they may do that anyways! I know the Charlotte mod attacks the babies if they are following you, I wouldn't be surprised if the tamed wolf does too. I guess we'll have to see. On the bright side, maybe I'll be able to mod in wolf pups...
Sorry if you have already answered this, but: Can you tame/breed wild adults, or do you need to go out and find a baby to tame to start your animal "family"?

You need to start with babies. The 'wild' adults are the original animals from the game and so I haven't touched their code in order to keep the mod compatible. Tame adults have a different texture from the wild ones and don't spawn naturally, they can only be raised.

OMG DAWWWW!

That is all :3
I don't mind, I'm glad you're having fun with it! (bugs and all!)

Ha ha, don't tell anyone, but I'm a lady!
I don't see why wolf pups wouldn't be possible, but I make no promises until Mojang actually puts them in the game!
I actully ment the mod in general :/ I can see how its missleading tho :tongue.gif:
Anything is possible. This is not on my todo list, however. Sorry, I guess?
No worries either way :smile.gif:
