Ok, your instructions are clear. You said to install Modloader version 4, not 5. So thats what I do. You also say to install Lahwran's GUI API for the full package, so I do!
Now, with just those two installed, minecraft loads fine (because I do remember to delete meta-inf).
But when i place your mod pack into the jar, minecrarft no longer loads past a black screen.
Like i said, I KNOW i installed the right mod loader. What might I ask am I doing wrong? there has to be something I am overlooking....
by the sounds of things you are doing everything right.
Did you make sure when you installed the node pack the class files ended up in the right place, not a subfolder of the jar? I've made that mistake before. :S
Try installing and running the newest version of the node pack version 1.4 and look in: %appdata%/.minecraft/mods/NodePack/NodePack_log.txt see if there's anything out of the ordinary in there.
Let me know how it goes.

Okay so you were unable to find the NodePack_log.txt file? When you installed my mods you had to copy the "mods" folder into your ".minecraft" folder. That is the folder I was referring to, it should contain a folder called NodePack which contains a whole heap of txt files that are named NodeID_XXXXX.txt. But it should also contain NodePack_log.txt
Is this where you looked for the log file? If not then please look in there.
If it doesn't then the problem could be that my code is crashing when it is trying to make that file on your system. When you were running version 1.3 of my mods did you see any NodePack_log.txt file created in the folder where you run minecraft from?

I can't see why it wouldn't be. I don't touch any of the minecraft default files and if it's a matter of conflicting ID's I've already solved that problem as you can now change them to whatever you want so that they don't conflict.

Incompadibility notice.
I have More Creeps, SpawnerGUI, and More Ores installed, so the game crashes when I try the individual Crystal mod. I think More Ores uses the same Block ID as a Crystal, or maybe one of them uses the same item ID as More Creeps or More Ores.
I tried the Laser Bridge, it seems to work fine (Haven't tested it.)
Also, when changing the IDs, how high of a number can I put? And which is the file I need to decompile to change the Crystal ID?

Laser bridge was working fine before version 1.4 now when I use it minecraft goes black then closes after a while after I hit the login button

alright nerdboy there are conflicting .class files but there are between the two steampunk mods. i think it might have something to do with the version of modloader you are using.

Also, they have conflicting classes because both the steamboat and airship use the same rendering engine.

OK, so I FINALLY figured out how to get ModLoader v4 working (never quite understood the META-INF thing until I read somewhere that it's actually IN the minecraft.jar...), but when I try to install the mods separately I get crashes. This is just with the kimberlite mod:
