This is an awesome mod! but I can't get it to work, I did it mc-patcher and non-mcpatcher, doesn't work, please, like lots of every people are saying, get a modloader version! thanks AtomicStryker!!!
This mod is amazing but mcpatcher is ****. It breaks most mods, is useless as optifine provides hd support and because of this I cannot use your mod. The install through mcpatcher thing is also useless as any person with half a brain can add a mod for minecraft. Please come out with a version that doesn't rely on the garbage service that is mcpatcher.
I don't know what you're talking about. MCPatcher is the ****. I use it to manage ALL of my mods, and I wish every mod dev would make an MCPatcher version:
If you're having incompatibility issues it's because you didn't pay enough attention to the compatibility sections of the mods you're installing. Certain mods' classes overlap and you need to order your mods so that the class files get overwritten in the proper order, some need patches (see: SPC PlayerAPI patch) to work together, while others simply aren't compatible.
@AtomicStryker: I followed the instructions to the letter and I noticed something...MCPatcher gave an "Error while patching" massage and reverted to the original jar. When I installed Dynamic Lights BEFORE Optifine, the patch fully completed but I get graphical flickering. I tried various setting in Optifine to fix it, but nothing worked. Can you please test this and help me fix it? Also, the mod doesn't seem to work as not light is shed while I hold a torch.

That log says you installed the default version, whch happens to be incompatible with Optifine. How about you select the Optifine version if you plan to use Optifine.

OK...is the Optifine Version INCLUDED in the ONE download link you provided for your mod? When I ran MC Patcher 2.3.0_01, I have only ONE listing of Dynamic Lights. Can you please provide a link to it?
NVM: I re-downloaded it again and now I have both versions. Don't know why it did this when I got it the first time.
Well, I ran MC Patcher and installed the Optifine version and now I have this:

Do you know what's causing this? I tested with both Java 1.6 AND 1.7 (didn't install both versions of Java together, uninstalled 1.6 before installing 1.7).
Figured it out. Tested one at a time the mods I use, updated old ones and made sure HD Textures, HD Fonts and Better Grass weren't ticked in MC Patcher.
Well, I still get graphical flickering. Can you tell me why this is? I use the default settings for Optifine.
Assuming you use Optifine MT (Multithreaded) it's that. Use a single core variant.
I tried the single core version also and I still get the flickering. I tried it with just 2 mods loaded and then all of them, but no luck. What logs do you need to analyze it?

Could make a merge for Premium Wood please :smile.gif: I love the idea but the different types of torches used in the mod are not compatible :tongue.gif: Nice work man!
I am brand new to minecraft modding -- should I be using optifine, mc patcher, or some combination of the two?
When I download optifine and install it, then try to run mc patcher, it says something like "it looks like your minecraft.jar is already patched - get a new one". So then, I tried installing optifine with mc patcher. I got a black screen until I found out that mc patcher's hd fonts conflicts with optifine. So I unchecked hd fonts and it works correctly now.
But am I doing this right? It seems like a lot of shenanigans to go through to get it to work. I was just going to use only optifine and not mcpatcher, but I didn't see a download available for an optifine-only version. In your instructions, you say "take everything from the 'compiled...' folder", but I don't have a compiled folder.. only a "mcpatcher-mods" folder and dynamiclights.settings.
So, am I doing this right? I'm just confused as to how exactly I should be using mcpatcher and optfine, or if I should be using one or the other. Like which one is more desirable to use, and why? Maybe this isn't the place to ask this question, but so far, I haven't really found an answer elsewhere.
You have to understand what they are. Optifine is a mod that works by replacing notch-files. (aaa.class and so on)
Mcpatcher is a modding utility that tries to 'patch' your notch(or mod) files.
You have to make the right selection in the mcpatcher tool. If you use Optifine, that means removing the hooks from HD Resolutions and Fonts, since Optifine already does that. Only select Dynamic Lights (Optifine).

Thanks. But just to make sure I'm understanding this correctly, am I right in installing optifine with mcpatcher? Because if I manually install optifine first (by copying the files into minecraft.jar), mcpatcher tells me I have an already modded minecraft.jar when I run it.
And I'm probably overlooking it, but the only current download link I saw for dynamic lights was for the one that requires mcpatcher.
And, could you tell me if I'm doing it right? As far as having optifine and mcpatcher at the same time, but removing the hooks from hd resolutions and fonts? Or should I be using only optifine or only mcpatcher?
That is all. Your mods are awesome.
im on windows 7 64 bit
You need to get 'Modding' atleast to level 10 so you can aquire the 'Mod Installer' perk.
