Hm, it's not even working with a completely unmodded minecraft.jar, save for modloader. No HUD icon.
That's weird, not sure why that would be... I just tried with a fresh download myself and its still working.
Latest version of ModLoader? Also you know the icon doesn't appear till you start getting hungry?
Best way to test is to change the hunger.ini to have a hunger rate of 1 minute, then you should see the green icon appear after about 15 seconds. Also make sure your hunger difficulty is set to 2 or higher.
OK, if memory serves, the Day cycle in game is approximately 20 minutes, and night is 10. So 30 minutes is one day..
On this mod the default 'Starve To Death' is 30 minutes.
I think 60-90 minutes would make a little more sense for default.

Other than that, this is an amazing idea!
Yeah, I'll be upping the default in the next update. Death by dawn is a little harsh... XD
The only problem I found is that turning the length up to several days removes the challenge - by the time I'm near starving I'll already have stockpiled a couple of days worth of food, even on hard. It becomes a balance I suppose between realism and challenge and I like my games nearly unplayably difficult - so far I've found 19-20 minutes (from full to starving, then again from healthy to dead) seems the best compromise for me, but I might change it once I've tried exploring some larger cave networks, in case it does need to be longer.
nice. this will give people something to use until I update mine.
Yeah, also yours does more than mine, you add bandages and stuff to heal hearts, making food only cure hunger, if I'm not mistaken. Which is awesome, I just didn't want to go that far, especially since you're already doing that :wink.gif:

hah thanks, the "toomanyitems" guy wasn't so nice, he just went "you're doing it wrong, but no reason to bother telling you so, I'll just go do it my own way ..."
feel free to update mine (wink wink), I need to get around to it... *sigh*
saturday I'll take a break from mcpkg and get this stuff done...

Yeah, I'm a big fan of common courtesy, but it takes all kinds to make a world :tongue.gif:
I do like where the health aspect of your hunger mod was headed, using flowers as medicine, crafting bandages etc. I wanted to do something much simpler, like the system proposed by Chezzy. I think there's a pretty big demand for something more though, people want hunger (and thirst) bars, possibly also fatigue, so there's plenty of design scope here. I know you've a lot on your plate, so I'd be happy to help out :wink.gif:
Admittedly I won't do anything with hunger for a little while though, as I'm getting a little too ambitious with other projects, when I do get back to it though I'll take a look at your source.
So i downloaded it and installed it. i played it in one of my saves and it was awesome. i deleted an old save so i can play a new map with this mod. and. nothing. the mod didn't work on the new save. just the old save. whats wrong?

Great mod!
For me, gets a little burdening with all the other crud ( ) you have to deal with but nonetheless, a fantastic mod for realism fans :smile.gif:

Kudos and to you !
Try special foods like Nandonalt's stuff with it. Those balance it nicely!
It certainly does make the game more interesting. I was bitching a little before in Xie's farming mod thread about being able to spam wheat too easily. Well, now I have half a heart left, I'm almost starving, it's night out and the creepers are spooked, and my indoor wheat farm only has stalks at the moment. It doesn't even matter if I give up my pride and switch to peaceful - I'll likely starve before I find anything to eat. And that's why I like this mod, and my housemate doesn't. I enjoy being forced to plan ahead before doing the simplest activity (like building a giant statue of a narwhal). My housemate can't stand all that screwing around.

Not that there's anything wrong with building a giant statue of a narwhal... XD
This mod is not for everyone, but essential for some :smile.gif:

Thanks Chezzy! It's good to have your support, for obvious reasons... XD
I did do it slightly differently to how you suggested, but I think it still works. I may well add an extra difficulty setting that reconciles that though, so you die outright rather than start to lose life when you reach the starvation time.

Edit Alright that did it, I'll try adding Zan's Minimap next and see if it breaks it.
Edit 2 Minimap works fine with it. I'll slowly add the rest of the mods back in and check.
