This mod changes the game so when the player is holding a torch it casts light that moves with the player. Currently it only works in single player. Consider it a precursor to my dungeon crafting mod that should be coming shortly.
Edit: Updated to work with ModLoader (note the source hasn't been updated yet)

You're a lone commando tasked to destroy the Nazi Zombie Federation's dam.
Spikes=cactus? anyways, this removes the need to waste all your coal on torches. I seriously don't believe it, but you have done it. now, someone send this to notch
EDIT: holy crap, hes implementing zelda into minecraft!!! Ok really? your the best modder yet.

Spikes = Lava maybe?
No, that wouldn't work
Spikes=entirely new modded in block
These little mods are my favorite- they don't dramatically change the game, they just add little features that enhance the experience.
Plus Notch said this couldn't be done but HA. This works perfectly.
Although there is a slight (note, slight) compatibility issue with BetterLight. The light emitting from the player appears to be exempt from the BetterLight effects, lighting up areas the old fashioned way. When I place the torch on the wall, it looks all... better-lighty. When I hold the torch in front of me, it looks all... average-lighty.
Not a super big deal, just a minor observation. :happy.gif: Keep up the good work!

Cactus is a gradual kill. Spikes need to be a one time thing. I use cactus retextured like mud to put under the water in my mod in the water hazard part because it's fitting for you to slowly take damage.

Ah.. I'm utterly speechless.
This is too amazing for words.. I have to make up a new name for how awesome this is.
Hmm.. Humungopwnsomelyawesomeness!
I want this so badly. But... I'm... stuck on minecraft 1.2.3_04! Nuuuu!
What? How can you be stuck? ...unless you didn't pay for it...
I'm running ~25 mods on 1.2.3_04. My intention is to build a program for myself (I'm a programmer) so that I can easily switch back to 1.2.3_04 if I hate 1.2.6 because it's missing my favorite mod(s).
But then... I kindof ditched that reasoning.
I'm STILL coding the program, but now I'm doing it so that I can have two copies of 1.2.6 with separate mods (one for FancyPack, that non-compatible piece of eat-your-heart-out, spit-it-on-the-sidewalk and walk away in all its sexiness mod )... and one for the rest of the mods. :smile.gif:
I like this mod, but I'd like it better if the handheld torch could be seperately crafted from a normal torch- it's weird trying to place a torch when suddenly everything is brighter.

Betterlight makes it so dynamic...
Will you update this mod forever more?
