scuze me i am going to play the next day
*spoiler*
the X is made of dirt if you can't find it well. . .
why did you read it why??? it says spoiler who wants things spoiled so whyyyyyyyy
I'll try 1.1.
And die on the first night.
EDIT:
I found the massive dirt block underground, and got some extra coal.
Two nights through and no hostile mobs on the surface. I'm guessing this means a lot of caves?
After seeing what Aandolaf did with his island I'm going to try and see if I survive the challenge.
I think an option like this is what could take Minecraft to a higher level. Maybe a version where self made maps could be linked with automated triggers for achievements and to keep scores.
Day 1: Not much, dug the clay, began reed farm, planted trees, found coal (X marks the spot), began cactus wall
Day2: Began mine, sapling grew into epic tree
Off the top of my head, I've done the cactus and reed farms done, working on the underground tree farm, built a skelly drowner, a fireplace out of brick, a lava fountain, found the lava for the zombie grinder under construction, found the curator's stuff and subsequently turned it into a deep level base. I can't think of anything else right now, but I think I'm well off so far.
Also, my base is underground, with access to the surface for trees and remembering what the sun looks like.
This is my castle I modeled it after Aandolaf's castle but I tried to improve it you decide if I did.
I tend not to like castles because I always thought a cobblestone facade was ugly, but I liked his style so I used it.
Some of the credit for the images below have to go to Aandolaf
This is the castle from the front. The tower on the wing is my treasury
This is the Main Hall and is kinda self explanatory
This is the wing in the castle and my den
The second story in my castle which is the dining hall thing, which is cool and yeah
My bedroom at the top of the castle
The cave I retrofitted with farms, I have a tree farm in the back, and the ladder you see goes up to my mini cactus farm, underneath the cactus farm I have an animal farm which animals were brought down to by means of a water slide , in the far back I have my reed farm, and near it I have a ladder that goes down to my mob grinder.
I chose a lava grinder over a water grinder, i don't like playing with water currents so I did that.
Edit: If any one of you is a having trouble with resources there is a smallish cave fill of dirt + coal its generally beneath the side of the island that has the tree. It was the same cave which I retrofitted with the farms. For those starting it is about 15 -20 blocks beneath the surface. Hopefully this will solve some of your problems(I don't know it it is there with the new version of the island but I'd be surprised if it wasn't)
Edit: Thank you so much Aadolaf for the compliment, hey my design may give you some ideas for the rest of your castle.
If you guys want I'll continue posting stuff like my future projects on my island or other images of my castle.
If anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated.
I am quite a newb at downloading Minecraft addons. I would like to know, how do I download this? I've opened the Zip file and let it archive. thats done nothing, so I've tried throwing the unzipped file into a folder with my Minecraft application. That also didn't work, and I've run out of ideas
My main problem may be this... Does it work on Mac?

I like it, think it looks a lot nicer than mine. Good job )
Well, I'm surviving, but it's starting day 4 and I still haven't seen cactus or reed and I'm still living in an underground bunker under the "X". From each of my first 2 trees I only got one sapling each. My current tree is only 4 blocks high, so if I don't get at least one sapling out of it, I lose. Progress is annoyingly slow, which is a good challenge, but makes me wonder about some other folks "achievements". I guess it's a bit of luck how your trees grow and whether you find anything "useful" after the initial 2 bits of coal. At least I've been lucky that nothing has been spawning above-ground. I hear zombies underground, though.
EDIT: Apparently the Minecraft gods respond well to minor whinging. In my first session after this post I found that coal is a bit more plentiful in the game than I had realized, so the pics with loads of torches are quite a bit more convincing to me now. Apologies for my insinuations earlier. Also, my trees started giving better returns on saplings, so I'm in pretty good shape. I've found the skeleton spawner although I haven't been able to take it out yet. I've blocked it off for now until I can come up with a strategy.
If you have the mo'monsters mod this makes this 100% more fun. ogres blew up my house instantly and i had to fight for my life. I took the dirt and forgot where the X was so i had to rely on a redstone torch i got from killing another custom monster. the ogre blew up my house and all of my items. now im left to a sand house with a dirt roof. no furnace no workbench, no pickaxe, nothing. just gotta wait for my sapling to grow. (ogre dropped a piece of obsidian, so that'll go towards my undestroyable house. :biggrin.gif:)

we are really isolated and lost at sea arent we?
Also, my base is underground, with access to the surface for trees and remembering what the sun looks like.
Spent the first few days underground gathering dirt to replace all sand above ground.
Day 5ish created a small tree farm for all my saplings.
Day 6 started to explore a cave system i discovered i crapped bricks to many times to remember....
Btw has anybody else found this? O_o
