Trailer:
Description:
This map is designed to be a mixture of Infinifactory and Human Resource Machine. Your goal is to arrange blocks on a factory floor in such a way that you turn a series of inputs (stacks of presents) into a desired series of outputs. For instance, you might have a system that only sends presents to the output if they are larger than the previous stack, or one that only sends the largest stack of presents.
There are a set of 20 puzzles of more-or-less increasing difficulty, starting at the absolutely easy first puzzle and ending at the fiendishly difficult twentieth puzzle, with some varying difficulty levels in between.
Should any puzzles prove too difficult for you, there is a built-in hint system which will provide you two hints per puzzle, as well as a free solution if one is required. There's no shame in using a free solution. This can be an extremely challenging map.
If you'd like to play it in multiplayer and don't have a server, you can host a temporary one at AdventureMaps. Keep in mind that all users will have to download the resource pack separately:
Do... um... whatever this is. Look, I didn't make these, RedstoneSpire, Panda4994, and Sancarn did.

The map is designed for singleplayer, but it will work in multiplayer. If you are using it in multiplayer, you will need to add the resource pack to server.properties, or have each user download it manually if that doesn't work for whatever reason:

If you are recording this for youtube, please leave credit somewhere in your description. I'm not particularly picky about the format, but this is the general information:

If you want to contact me (to say you enjoyed the map, request additional puzzles, report bugs, whatever really), the best method would probably be my Twitter.
You can go to my YouTube Channel if you want, but it is currently in a state of sad disuse.
I also sometimes stream mapmaking on , but I haven't been doing it lately due to internet problems.
Full Credits:
Gotta give credit where credit is due. The map itself was built by me. The resource pack was designed by NateT_Bird, with some minor modifications by me. The general build was WiskeyWeasel, and some of the hints and bonus solutions were designed by Panda4994, RedstoneSpire, and redstarrer. Thanks also to my many testers. I can't remember all of their names, so I don't want to list them in case I forget any, but you know who you are.
Changelog:
up0:
Initial Rerelease
Feature-complete, although with potential plans for future expansion
Here, there will be a list of bonus challenges which can be completed in sandbox mode. They will be listed in the format of the instructions given on the regular puzzles. You can submit your own custom puzzles in this thread, and (provided you can prove to me that they are solveable) I will include them in this list.
More Bridges:
Creator: QwertyuiopThePie
You will get two inputs. Both must reach the output. You are not allowed to directly place any blocks within X blocks of the output wall, X being the current difficulty level. For example, Puzzle 5 is a difficulty-5 version of this challenge.
EX: 11 -> 11
The current record is held by RedstoneSpire, Panda4994, and redstarrer, at 15. This solution has been included in the map as a bonus, unlockable by discovering the easter egg.
More Sorting:
Creator: QwertyuiopThePie
Sort each set of up to X numbers received (ending with a zero, and not including the zero) from greatest to least and output, X being the current difficulty level. Discard any zeroes. For example, Puzzle 20 is a difficulty-5 version of this challenge.
EX: 41423102410 -> 443211421
The current record is held by redstarrer, at 43. It can be found here.
Storage:
Creator: Panda4994 and RedstoneSpire
Store a set of up to X numbers and output them, in order, when a 0 is encountered, X being the difficulty level. Since the output will match the input, output cannot be used to verify success in this challenge. This is similar to Puzzle 15, but instead of outputting the zeroes you may discard them.
The current record is held by RedstoneSpire and Panda4994, at 60. This solution has been included in the map as a bonus, unlockable by discovering the easter egg.
Counting Zeroes:
Creator: EpicCreeper9001
Send only outputs following a series of X or more zeroes, X being the current difficulty level. Do not send any zeroes. Puzzle 10 can be seen as a difficulty-1 version of this challenge.
The current record is held by redstarrer at 32767. It can be found here.

I may have found a bug.
In Level 17, as soon as the 0 package spawns, I get "Expected output but received none! Check your build". But the 0 package didn't even move out of the input, it didn't touch a single block placed by me.
It however does work fine when I'm testing it in fast mode. The problem does only happen in slow mode.

Did it work after trying a few different input sequences? I'm unable to check your build directly at the moment, so I might as well try to figure the problem out before I get home.
I should clarify. It randomly picks one of a set of input sequences each time you go to test mode. If it doesn't, and it's just a slow mode thing, I might have an idea as to what's causing it.

I can replicate the problem on that level, but not on the other levels. However, the only redstone that changes on that level is the "value" scoreboard's value for each input and output, as well as the hints and instructions. I have no idea what is causing this, I'm afraid. At least it's a relatively non-gamebreaking bug.

Hmm, maybe it does happen when the 0 is the last number and yet it hasn't received any output but not when 0 is the last number and it did already receive output?

I mean, it'd be unlikely and oddly specific, but much stranger things have happened. I'll experiment with it later.

Oh wow yours looks so organised. In lvl 20 I just build a complete mess. But it does work as long it does not receive in that order 4 or 5 packages, 0 packages and another 4 to 5.
But assuming that there never will be a 0 with no packages to sort before, it will always work
There's no images there. And yeah, mine has the assumption that there's at least one non-zero package in between every two zeroes too. I don't think it'd be terribly complicated to remove that constraint though.
Looks pretty good YellowBunny, level 20 needed to allow you to sort less than 5 packets as well though, which I don't think your solution does. Is this level 19 perhaps?
And NeunEiser, I also see it now, weird. O.o But that's quite chaotic, yeah. XD

Awesome!
After struggling for a few hours with the original release of the map (the advent calendar version) back in December, I just had to try this version and I have to say it doesn't seem to be any easier. The mechanics and concept are still great. I can't comment on the last few levels yet, but I think I like the new levels even more than the advent calendar ones.

Thanks for giving it a look! Admittedly I still have your playthrough of the original paused somewhere. Just wait until you get to the bonus challenges, if you do them.
Admittedly, the only real gameplay changes are a solution showcase hidden in an easter egg button, merge blocks pointing in all directions, a few level changes, some extra levels, and sandbox mode. If I ever release a sequel it'll probably start where this one leaves off.
Here's a submission for the bonus sorting challenge:
It sorts up to 30 inputs, like described in the challenge, tested it for the example input and 30 random inputs but you can test it for yourself in the attached world. Fully resets into original state after a zero, good luck improving that!
While testing, I've also noticed that 2 presents entering a comparison block at the same tick cause them to add up instead of comparing. Fortunately, this didn't break anything in my solution.
At last, where do I get a "tool" for that easter egg? Because I've found it but can't claim my reward, though I didn't try every "tool" at my disposal.

I've confirmed that the solution works. Congratulations! You're the new record for this category.
As for the easter egg, I'll only say:
You can reach it using a piston pointed in a direction where you wouldn't normally point a piston, as well as some good timing. There's also a bug that may help.
I got the easter egg, and it said it unlocked signs on the north and south walls, but there's only signs on the north wall, and there's no sign for the "no blocks within x blocks of the output" challenge level 15, as stated in the second post.
Also, I have a new sandbox challenge idea, which I'll post once I stop being lazy and can upload a picture of my solution.

I checked, and it should definitely have signs on both walls. Minecraft sometimes doesn't like showing signs, so try relogging. You can thank Mojang for that one.
