Several things to clarify at the beginning of the thread:
1, I am not a native english speaker, and i do somethings use strange english in the map.
2, I am not god, i do make mistakes, could be bug, could be spelling, if you spot any, just reply and inform me, i will be glad to fix at the earliest probable opportunity
3, I am a student and without a team, with nothing but enthusiasm, therefore do not expect a spectacular map in case you feel disappointed... But the thing i can assure you is the playing time.
4, First time posting things here~
This map requires minecraft version 1.4 or above, otherwise wither wouldn't, did i say wither? No you've misheard. If your minecraft version is below 1.4, the command block system will completely fail and wouldn't work at all.
2-6hours playing time promised
(not lying, i don't need to..), but this is in terms of no cheating, and fulling understand the plot, it's becoming increasingly important when you go on, the third village in DKS2 and the whole of DKS3 will get quite sophisticated and complex. More than 150 book
interpreting the plot and characters' personalities and stories. Roughly 100 hours' building, checking and setting up time
all by only one person!(even a few days on screen shots, but apparently i am not good at it..). Around 50 characters and NPC appear, lived or dead. Countless conversation done by command blocks. Even funner with an easter egg hidden!
But that's in DKS3, play 1 and 2 first..
Every single piece of wonder are hidden in the spoiler~
Map Size: 24.8+30.8+39.1mb Map series: Decision is the key to survive Gameplay duration:With no cheating, fully understanding the conversations and what is going on, the time i roughly assume and estimate people will spend on this map would be the following
·DKS1, no name, linear game play with brainless mob-killing, 1 hour
·DKS2, "After Retirement", complicated plot, with great sublimation from DKS1, 2-4hours(remember this estimation of time is no cheating and fully understanding the plot...)
·DKS3, "The Revenge", Proceed with the story from DKS2, around 1-3 hours
BUT! Feel free to use creative mode, i am open. As the pinned thread wrote：
If you are creating a map that's labeled as [Surv] (survival), your audience will expect a more hardcore experience than a map that's labeled as [Creation]. So, your audience will generally be more older players who are looking for a challenge and don't mind the “honor” rules that you will throw in to make sure that the players have the experience that you want them to.
I shall assume people can pass those jumping and deliberately made some of them not so nice, if you find it hard, as i said... Cheat a little bit as you wish.
But indeed, in DKS2 and 3 you barely fight mobs...
Of course, if you encountered some issues, for instance you can not go on because you do not know what to do or where to go next, feel free to reply. I will even be happier if you are helping each others out in my thread, and discussing, suggesting improvements and expectations.
(If any rude language appeared in the book, you have to understand in which context, this character said such a bad word.)
More, if (why so many if?) you’ve spotted a bug, you are able to enter some strange place and you are not supposed to be able to access in the current stage, that probably could due to my carelessness, i may forget to put a door there, i may forget to put a spawn egg in dispenser, all sorts of problems, JUST REPORT!
What is this map about?
Full name of this map is Decision is the key to survival, shortened initial: DKS, and what you do is literally making decisions and play on. But the story is amazing! Yes, it's not entirely about making decisions, otherwise I will abandon it myself... For the most of the time players should be enjoying the moments of solving puzzles and killing mobs in DKS1 and reading the conversations in DKS2,3 after they have made some sensible decisions. Indeed, in DKS2,3 it's no longer about decisions, but i still would like to keep them into the same series. If you have to say, DKS1 is having a linear plot, only thing that affects is decisions, including the prices and routines. Whereas in DKS2,3, it is like, well if i have to say, it is more like some sort of Japanese RPG games in a much broader area, which means the fighting might be easy, but the plot is something that is really complicated and is something you really need to treat concentratedly. Once you are able to figure out the personality and relationship of each character appears, it's great fun.
For the big part of the game, nothing is about decisions... The DKS1 is the real “DKS”, whereas 2 and 3 just made a thoroughly different style.. So just play on and ignore the name. Or otherwise think in another way, the story begins at DKS2, but it is awkward when people did nothing and be called hero. So the DKS1 is “prequel” if you are willing to accept in that way..
What is so good about it? Why would you recommend it ?
The thing i would really be appreciated is if everyone can understand the story of each village. They all have their own, special story, not just a place created, have no use at all but giving player some missions. All the plots and conversation will be presented in the form of books. Read them and never skip one! They are important, and fun!
Some good aspects and features: 2-6hours playing time promised(not lying, i don't need to..), but this is in terms of no cheating, and fulling understand the plot, it's becoming increasingly important when you go on, the third village in DKS2 and the whole of DKS3 will get quite sophisticated and complex. In DKS2, you begin a game as a retired former dragon slayer, and this is what you do in DKS1. In 2, you also travel freely, whereas in 3, you have an aim, but i can’t say more than that... Spoil alert
Do not try to avoid pressureplate, for the most of the time, it triggers conversation, without it, you wouldn’t have a clue about what is going on!
I am willing to answer any questions about the plot. Just reply! I wouldn't be annoyed. I will be over the moon to see any response, even disingenous compliment...
The nether bit in 3 could be confusing. If you don't want to lose yourself, follow the books carefully and don't miss a sentence, otherwise you may lose the clue of what to do next.
Routine: See the leader, he said he is willing to help, but he has accidentally lost his key in guest room3, this is the reason why it is not available... Anyway, go and find his key, open the data bank, then he said he think the person who lived in room 2 is quite suspicious. Then of course you go to room 2, be aware that he said now he will take a nap in his room. So after you have read the diaries, go back to his room. He will then ask you to rest for a while in vacant guest room 1 and he need time to think about it. Then it is clear that that person killed the leader and another way showed up.
