I prefer to send unwanted villagers to a "jail" I've built to feed my future Golem farms, though. Having villagers killed close to the village disable new villagers spawning for 3 minutes.
This is a very interesting concept. I don't think I'd use it in OceanBlock but I'm definitely going to explore it in my "real" world.
In regards to animal spawning, size doesn't really matter... My annoying pig companion (whom I love dearly) spawned on a single lonely piece of grass. More grass just means more chances to spawn animals. I guess I just got lucky.
Hey 5thHorseman, is it okay if I were to make 2 seperate worlds, one for recording (with two backups) and one for just myself? Because I don't really get much time in quiet places with my laptop to record and it takes ages to upload, not saying I'll stop uploading videos, I just will have a world that I don't... if that doesn't bother you.
So can I?

I don't mind at all. I put the map out there for anybody to play with however they want. I expect the vast majority of people who play this never make videos at all, or even post here. If you want to play it TWICE at the same time? That's totally cool with me
Well, I played for awhile then rage quitted yesterday morning. Since I had all my iron blocks on me. I had 36 or something like that and I went crazy and used up most of them. Then I had 11 on me and a lot of my plant seeds because I was harvesting. I saw an iron golem and didn't want it to sink to the bottom of the ocean so I went in the water to push it back up. Well, the game decided that I shouldn't have any air when I go down and It made me lose all my life unbelievable fast. I'm not sure why It did, but it glitched horribly. Now I'm urged to play again and I'm going to build myself a cosy little home.
I got a cozy little house going. My world still looks really bad because there is random wood all over, but I'll post some screenshots pretty soon. I'm still working on it.
My no video version is good, I have three houses ready for NPCs, found your... GRAVEL! and discovered what really lies beneath the ocean... plus I got an iron pickaxe early from more zombie drops but I don't think it's really in the spirit of the survival island to just use it on the diamonds and stuff straight away, so I'm saving it till I have at least one iron thingy spawn... I will hopefully upload part 3 and 4, seeing has I recorded them yesterday... and thanks for allowing me to have no vid and vid!
One small problem that has occured was when I realised I can't make torches unless I use those few coal ore... can you please tell me if I would get cobble eventually? Just to know if using the coal is bad or good?

very nice that you got iron from zombies A bucket was my first priority.
go ahead and mine the ores but don't use the diamonds on a pickaxe, you'll need them later on to complete all the challenges. You get the diamond pick to mine the obsidian from the villagers.

This doesn't matter. The diamonds were set there purposely for a pickaxe and an enchantment table. As long as you have the enchantment table and villagers all goals CAN be met.
Started playing 4.0, getting things started... and a villager jumps on the cactus. Just as he does, it grows. I can't get him out fast enough to save him. WHY ARE VILLAGERS SO DUMB, CACTI ARE NOT LADDERS XD

That's not true if you are going for the bonus goals as well. There are 5 diamond blocks and 6 diamonds are needed to complete all goals.
The only way I can think to get all the goals without trading for a diamond pick with the villagers INSTEAD of making one, is to mine two diamonds, make an enchantment table, and then keep enchanting iron picks until you get Fortune. Then use that pick to mine the other 3 diamonds so you have enough to make the pick AND the jukebox (and probably a sword or something too).
...which actually doesn't sound *THAT* hard, though it could take a long time. Probably longer than it'd take to get the trade from a villager, assuming you prune the herd regularly.

Didn't ever recall reading that, I'll go back and try to find that now, haha.
This is a small album of my island; yes it's very messy currently. I'm getting farming up and running.
What's that in your final image? It can't be a golem farm (can it?) as thy can't fall through the central hole.
I probably shouldn't announce this in a reply to another post, but I am I'm working on a new map, that is similar in scope, idea, and theme to OceanBlock. However, there is no ocean. And actually there's no block, either. I don't know what I'm going to name it yet but I've got the overworld pretty much made, and am thinking of some ideas for the Nether. Like OceanBlock, it's a very small map inserted into an infinite FlatLand map. This one's going to actually just be a single chunk, though
can't wait for your new map. I haven't played for awhile having accomplished all the goals I knew how to do. I have been following all the comments and watching LP sometimes you just want to shout instructions to them. :). I have been watching tutorials to learn how to accomplish some of the other goals so I think I am ready to proceed or maybe even start over while I wait for your new map
I have tried some other maps but you remain my favorite

How big does a grass area have to be for animals to appear? never really played these kind of maps before so i'm used to having an abundance of animals off the get go lol
A 1x1 grass block will spawn an animal given enough time, but you really want at LEAST 8x8 to have any chance. And 16x16 is even better.
The more the merrier. Animal spawns are *RARE* and you want to give them as many opportunities as possible.

Want to? Heck, I DO shout at them sometimes.
I don't have a timetable for when the new map will be ready. It all depends on how my playtesting goes.

a 2 x 2 hole is big enough for the iron golems to fall through. Go look at the map I sent you ages ago.
This sounds very interesting.
Oh, I thought that was a 1x1 hole.
And oops
