Well, you've come to the right place. The Far Lands were a strange, mysterious terrain generation that occurred pre-beta-1.8 after about 1.2M blocks away. The natural lay-of-the-land would be bizzare, twisted and unearthly. The land would layer itself on one another, causing massive, underground caverns. Monsters would appear in huge numbers and wouldn't disappear during the day, due to the amount of darkness these "Stacks" created. Below a certain point, all caves and openings were flooded completely, making for intensely difficult exploration.
Then, they vanished.
I was smart, I suppose. Or maybe just lucky. I had been working on an adventure map at the time, [Barren], which centered around the Far Lands. My goal was to somehow get chunks of Far Land map onto a separate map to work with in creating my adventure map. Problem was, people who were able to get out that far to see the generation experienced terrible lag, strange lighting errors and eerie glitches that caused blocks to shift back and forth or become transparent, causing people to fall through to the void. When a map of the Far Lands area was opened in a program like McEdit, the program would react violently and often crash abruptly. I was very quick, and was able to secure a few chunks before McEdit crashed on me as well. I was able to move the chunks to a fresh map, where the lag and other anomalies no longer occurred. I finished my map (Which became quite popular: http://www.minecraft...0-dl-910-rated/) and still had a separate map filled with the rest of the chunks I didn't use.
And now, here we are. I come and offer you two maps, one is for discovery, one for survival.
Far Lands Exploration Chunks
This map contains all the chunks I recovered from the Far Lands. Its Creative Mode, and you can explore and build freely till your heart's content. Of course, if you plan on using the map for another project or map or something, just let me know and give credit, yada yada.
This is the same map as before, yet with a few, minor changes.
-The game is set into Hardcore Mode
-You start with very, very basic supplies
-You must, in order to consider yourself ruler of the Far Lands:
I. Find and construct a full set of diamond armor
II. Find the End Portal, beat the game.
III. Find Mr. Pumpkin :3
IV. Survive

Absolutely! Go for it and post the video when you're done
That map generation was all you managed to carry out of Mojang Mesa!
Not another Black Mesa... Not again.
(Note: I'm not trolling, just referencing HL2.)

So I was working on this really cool resource pack a while ago, but bad progress nonwithstanding, I think I found something much better... I'm probably gonna never release another custom Minecraft map.Until we meet again...
- Removed previous SPC settings (Instantmine, NoDrop)
- Added a teensey bit more supplies
- Considered changing spawn, decided against, went and got chinese food instead.
Do you miss the Far Lands as much as I do?
Do you even know what the Far Lands are?
