I have made a thread on this, but I forgot you can't access topic you've started from your profile anymore and can't find it. Anyway, I've bookmarked this thread so it doesn't happen again.

Required mods:
Fly mod, Too many items (or single player commands) and of course, Mine Little Pony.
NOTE: This is just if you want to do the challenges, other wise, none are needed.
Features: Cutscenes (vids included in the folder, or on my youtube channel), actual characters that don't just interact via signs (the reason for cutscenes), character skins (I'll make them downloadable), ability to dig and build (though more limited).
Rules/guidelines/challenges for the map:
General:
The rules are made with multiplayer (specifically groups of three to four players) in mind.
1. You cannot have stacks of blocks in your inventory, unless you , unless you're building something big, if you are playing as an earth pony, you can have stacks of 3 blocks. This is to prevent digging too and building much instead of just occasionally knocking down a wall and making use of old ruins, or rather, feel free to ignore this when you feel it's appropriate.
2. No swimming up waterfalls.
3. Every seven enemies you kill with a gold sword (four with other gold tools), you get a gold bar.
4. You may only have one stack of arrows in your inventory at a time (unless transporting it to a new location without intending to use it).
5. You can not break iron doors to bedrock vaults (rooms made of bedrock), you must make a lever to open them.
6. You may not build obsidian portals.
Pegasus players: You may use fly mod, if you're not using it, don't worry, these rules don't apply to you: you may not use diamond armour and tools, only half your inventory space may be used for blocks for obvious reasons.
Unicorn players: You may "summon" (via Too many items or Single player commands) certain items for certain amounts of gold (just chuck the "spent" gold), you can't use diamond armour or tools, additionally, you get two free health potions every day (in-game time), but cannot have more than two given this way at any time, if you still have two "daily" health potions from, you cannot have more until you use those ones, you can have as many health potions obtained by any other method as you want though.
Story:
One day in Equestria, the company "Kraven Krastos archeology" is hired when some Equestrian explorers find what they believe to be the lost city of "Aliquam lacus" in Fatum jungle.
They set up their base of operations in near the jungle, however, three ponies ended up getting separate from the main group, after a week of travel trying to their way back, they wake up and find themselves within the city, these ponies are...
Black Belt: Idealistic, enthusiastic, but somewhat egotistical and reckless pegasus, also, he has mad scientist tendencies (he likes to build stuff, but all his inventions explode, even if it's just a bunch of plastic bags full of ice to cool himself in the summer). I had some influence from Firewall from the fanfic "Through the eyes of another pony" when coming up with the character, he also fits into the romance genre hero archetype of the swashbuckler (physically-oriented action hero, who may not let common sense get in the way of a good adventure, though in this case it's more because of arrogance then fun. Yeah, I based most of the characters on romance genre heroes, I didn't expect it turn out like that but I'm running with it).
Kraven: A clever, but also cowardly and greedy unicorn from Stalliongrad (which is more like the Russian Empire than communist Russia, because I like to mess with peoples expectations based on the source material's many horse puns). Conveniently matches the romance genre hero archetype of the charmer (irresistible rogue who teaches you the meaning of fun but doesn't hang around for the aftermath).
Scorch: An earth pony miner whose special talent is explosives (he's also worked as a pyrotechnics expert in some movies). Archetype wise he's a best friend (a dependable ally and a peacemaker who hates confrontation). He's also a father.
Setting:
The setting is a basically a cross between MLP and Minecraft, so humans are part of the setting, this is to explain the human zombies. More on this later...
Map design
This is for people who want to help me make the map.
Hideout:
You start in this area, there are some beds, food and a couple of health potions in the chest.
River (or the the ocean depending on where the spawn point is):
Nearby river that goes out into the ocean (or the just the ocean itself depending on where the spawn point is).
Places of interest: a large ship with one or more mob spawners.
City outskirts:
The area surrounding the city, there is little here but the remains of some farms and houses.
Places of interest: There is a mill, a lumber camp, mining camp, a small dock and a few military outposts.
Outer market district:
The first area you gain access to, the "outer market" district is at the city entrance, is this area is filled with shops with some having strangely still-fresh food.
Places of interest: not much really, this is where the farmers came to sell their goods. as it was here they would most likely be able to sell goods to tourists, so you'll probably find lots of food at the shops. There is an archery range however for amature hunters.
Residential district:
Where most of the middle class citizens lived, there aren't many shops, but there loads of houses.
Places of interest: Blacksmith, church, school.
Military district:
Where most of the military was trained. You'll find more weapons here.
Places of interest: Barracks, Dux Mortium's (a famous general known only by his nickname in the story) castle.
Inner market:
A rather small district with potions, and good armour/weapons to be found.
Inner district:
Where the high class lived, and where you can find the most valuables. This area is surrounded by a magical wall (of bedrock) (which also covers the top), it must be opened with diamond blocks (found in the other areas or made from diamonds).
Places of interest: Magic academy.
The team so far
Me: Writing and some building.
TheMagaspike: Redstone creations and building.
Armarillos: Redstone creations and building.
Ed_stickywicket: Redstone creations, building and editor (in writing terms).
aarieno432: Co-writer and server host.
tribaldragon73: Builder and punmaker.
mirrorwolf9: Builder.
A separate thread will be created regarding the cutscenes, I will not be making those until the actual map is done
I would be delighted to help Oh btw lets not use xD :biggrin.gif:
Whats the ip? are we just building and surviving or just building?
plz reply
Right now there isn't an ip, I need to either buy a server or ask permission to work on someone else's.
We would just be building the map, if I get my own server we could use single player commands to change from creative to survival (for testing) and from survival to creative (for building). Or at least I think we could, not sure if the server admin (which would be me) could change the game modes like that.
Right now I'm recruiting some builders and map designers, and maybe a co-writer.

I could host you guys a server...But its hamachi! :/
I would be glad to offer my construction and some redstone expertise... Though i would NOT recommend going hamachi. Try to look around for another person, brony or not, to host a legit server.
And if you can buy a server, id go for it... you could use it for more than just Minecraft to :tongue.gif:

Also, Yes... anyone with Op privileges can change their own as well as others game modes in game. You can choose who has Op rights as well.

Added you guys to the list.
And yeah, I'm considering just buying a server, although I'm worried that it be a waste of money if I don't use it again. Come to think of it, what do you think would be a good price Ed?

P.S.- If you need one, I can also help "proofread" your writing.
Honestly, if I end up buying one I'll probably use it again. But once we get started on this map I don't think it'll be to long before we're done. Most of the work will probably go into those cutscenes.
Well if we are building a quality map, it will take a while. I think we should build the map as best we can so it may stand out in the forums/community.
How are the cutscenes going to work? whats your plan for those?
I can help with the Co writing and some building, as well as videos, you know, just in case. As well as I can do some art for it. I would also recommend skype, as it is easier to use, and until our find someone to host a real server, get the hamachi one
Armarillos/Ed: Cutscenes will be in machinima. My plan was always to make videos and put them in a folder with the map, like with notes.
aaroniero: Added you to the team, thanks for joining. Here's the first draft for the intro (warning, wall of text)...
Well, here's the first draft for the intro.
The intro starts with a parody of the first MLP: FiM episode, where Black Belt tells of version of the "Mare in the moon" story that is blatantly wrong (complete with the same art style as the story), resembling Half-Life: Full Life Consequences, most of the differences are in the background gags.
Also, Princess Celestia is Black Belt's bizarre idea of Princess Celestia, while actual, closer to canon Princess Celestia is just referred to as "Celestia".
Narrator: One day, Princess Celestia who is Princess Luna's sister was a castle, writing a royal letter, when suddenly she got a letter from her sister saying manticores and hydras are attacking her place.
*fast forwards*
Narrator: Princess Celestia saw a sign that said "Evertree City" with someons writing saying "you shuldn't come here".
(Applejack can be seen in the background saying (indicated by subtitles to make it more like a joke by someone making a machinima) "darn, welp, looks like we'll just have to do it at Fluttershy's" to Rainbow Dash).
*fast forwards again*
Narrator: Princess Luna yelled "Princess Celestia run out of here" and Princess Celestia walked real fast out-
(Princess Celestia is walking away from Luna, Tank the tortoise is impatiently waiting for Princess Celestia, indicating that she is in fact, moving slower than a tortoise)
*fast forwards again*
Narrator: The future was dark and scarry, Nightmare Moons came and noone new why, Nightmare Moons were dark magic things that weren't dark magic.
*fast forwards again*
Pipsqueak's dad: Nightmare Moons are from dark magic and the moon.
*fast forwards again*
Nightmare Moon: ha ha, stupid pone colt with no head.
Narrator: The Nightmare Moons said with smiles.
Pipsqueak's dad: Pipsqueak no get out of here fast as you can...
Narrator: Pipsqueak's dad said and died.
*fast forwards again*
Pipsqueak: But pones have to fight for freedome-
Celestia (off-screen): Sorry but we're going to have to end this...
(The story is ended suddenly, revealing that Black Belt, Celestia, Luna, Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash are in the same room, implied to be in Celestia's castle)
Celestia: Okay, I'm pretty sure that if you had studied Equestrian history, you would know I didn't die. It was very amusing though.
Luna: DID THOU HAVE TO END THE TALE? WE WERE QUITE AMUSED DESPITE THE INACCURACIES. ESPECIALLY AT THE PARTS WHERE VERY DARK BLUE BELT PRESSED A BUTTON BY SMASHING HIS FACE INTO IT AND THREW A FREIGHT TRAIN.
Celestia: Unfortunately, yes. We have received letters from the Kraven Krastos Archeology Company they have found information on the lost city of "Aliquam lacus".
Black Belt: So why am I here?
Celestia: To pay off your debts for flooding a street.
Luna: Why did you do it, what motivated you to blow up your own basement?
Black Belt: I was just trying to fill some plastic bags with ice to cool the basement down, it's really hot this summer.
Celestia and Luna: ...What?
TITLE SEQUENCE
Scorch: He was having a bad day, he kept slipping on ice when trying to get it into the bags, he was hot, he was tired... So he took revenge on the ice.
Black Belt: How do you know?!
Scorch: You stole my dynamite, and I saw the whole thing trying to stop you possibly blowing up Canterlot.
Celestia: Look, long story short, you're going to work off the money needed to repair damage with Kraven. Besides, it's spring where you're going, and you'll be given a lot more time to relax.
Black Belt: Uh...
Twilight: Nervous?
Black Belt: Heh...
Twilight: Look, you're new to this job, and and you're clearly nervous, but it's okay, it's only going to be for a few weeks. Don't worry, you'll be fine, you're friend Monochrome Dash is going so you won't be bored.
Black Belt: Will there be dragons?
Twilight: Probably not, as far as I can tell, they don't inhabit the region you're going to.
Kraven: Ladies.
()
Black Belt: You!
Rainbow Dash: He's just jealous, and melodramatic. Monochrome told me.
Black Belt: Soon, we will see who really gets all the mares!
Rainbow Dash: He's jealous of the accent.
Kraven: So you want to get rich finding diamonds, gold and artifacts of historical significance or not?
Black Belt: Bet I find more than you.
Honestly, I just think I could have written this entire scene better, maybe have a few better jokes then the background gags in Black Belt's version of the "mare in the moon" story, what it does do is establish that Black Belt is a bit melodramatic, and that he's known Kraven beforehand.
Can I offer some criticism? I know im not put in on the "writing" section, but...
Some of the script could be touched up grammatically as well as a little change in story here and there (my opinion). What you have so far sounds like a pretty solid background story though :tongue.gif: Can't wait to get this started!

Glad to hear it, I'm not sure what I could change right now, but I did quite a bit of thinking on how I can combine MLP: FiM and Minecraft and I'll be glad if it pays off.
For example, humans exist, but have been mostly wiped out by a vampire named Lepharsi, also, vampires are more like human-spider hybrids rather than their more common portrayal, but other than that retain the common elements of vampires. I'm not sure if I should put that in though, I'm wondering if it's too dark, but it would explain human zombies. It would also tie this map into an old project of mine, a map I never got around to making, where you would play as one of the remaining humans hunting Lepharsi, could also lighten up the setting, keeping somebody coming to this as the reason for there being human zombies.
I also did quite a bit of thinking on how I could make Black Belt "unique" without making him some kind of demon sex god (or other over the top Mary Sue trait), basically, he's a "northern Pegasus" (can't manipulate clouds, but much more resistant to cold (also the reason he hates summer).
My personal opinion is that vampires and stuff seem a bit dark and scary compared to something like MLP.
It would be good if the mod only changed the player into a pony, then we could explain about stuff like zombies and skeletons.
But sadly it doesn't
I think something like a nuclear disaster or mutant thing or something and that changed ponies into zombies, skeletons, e.t.c
Honestly, I think I'll for my version, also, the mod does only change the player character into a pony. Besides, Mine Little Pony was always going to be somewhat darker than MLP: FiM. The question isn't how dark it is compared to Mine Little Pony, but how dark is too dark.
If you're wondering, I'm aiming for "around the same amount of darkness as Star Wars (the original, unaltered trilogy where Han ****ing shot first, Darth Vader was actually badass and bad CGI wasn't added solely to block the ****ing camera)".
If you need to incorporate the human zombies, you could make something along the lines of like you said, first a disaster happening. "Everyone" gets their **** together and takes care of the problem, but Celestia and Luna inform you that its not over. they have been reluctant to tell you, but a mishap with some magical power (maybe the Elements of Harmony or a magical power source near town OR far away) caused a rift to open to a different world, and those zombies/creepers/skeletons started pouring out of the rift and invading the land. This caused those hydras and manticores to become distressed and aggressive, thus also attacking.
The portal could have been left open as the magical power source suddenly disappears and splits into pieces that get misplaced across the land, in ancient ruins, and perilous mountains. You must save Equestria from this evil and close the portal/destroy it.

Honestly, I just think I could have written this entire scene better, maybe have a few better jokes then the background gags in Black Belt's version of the "mare in the moon" story, what it does do is establish that Black Belt is a bit melodramatic, and that he's known Kraven beforehand.
Some of the script could be touched up grammatically as well as a little change in story here and there (my opinion). What you have so far sounds like a pretty solid background story though :tongue.gif: Can't wait to get this started!
If you're wondering, I'm aiming for "around the same amount of darkness as Star Wars (the original, unaltered trilogy where Han ****ing shot first, Darth Vader was actually badass and bad CGI wasn't added solely to block the ****ing camera)".
The portal could have been left open as the magical power source suddenly disappears and splits into pieces that get misplaced across the land, in ancient ruins, and perilous mountains. You must save Equestria from this evil and close the portal/destroy it.
Thats my idea... sorry for the tl;dr :/
