Finished alot of small things that had been nagging me today, I'm really close to completing this thing. I think now would be a good time to start recruiting beta testers, so if you're interested shoot me a PM (or just respond here). I want to say I will have a completed map ready by this weekend.
I thought I would have the day off today but ended up working. Regardless I made a little progress. What you cant see is some redstone wiring that Koros has been working on, which makes the blocks in the mountain tower functional. What you can see is the rest of the exterior of the desert, including the exterior of the desert palace. Here's some screenshots (I also threw in a few extra)
Yes and no. Anything we could replicate we put in, however this is only the first 3 (4 if you count agahnim's tower) dungeons, which were fairly simple. You will still be able to enjoy the orange/blue piston arrangement from the mountain tower, and the shooting ball rooms from the desert and eastern palaces (except they were replaced with arrows and dispensers).
so, after this is all completed, could you help me with my map? it's based off of oot, and has tons of puzzles in 3 different dungeons. I'd love your help designing redstone puzzles if you're good at it.

Unfortunately I start a new schedule at work on Monday and wont have time to work on maps anymore, thats why my deadline for this map is this weekend. However, if you're looking for a redstone expert, Koros has been the one doing all the work on this map, so maybe he would be interested in helping you after we are finished.

I decided the old screenshots looked pretty crappy since alot of it was just whatever was featured with emptiness around it. I took some new ones now that the world is filled in (im on a laptop though so some distant areas arent rendered), and I also loaded the old screenshots of the maps to give you guys a look at the progress made throughout. Enjoy!

Redstone puzzles, hm? For example, combination locks or a series of trails (jump across a pit on ice blocks, find your way through a pop-up maze, etc.) or logic puzzles - Example A: [White Block] + [Green Block] - [Blue Block], where each has a different value hidden somewhere in the map, and each value is represented by a series of switches) or Example B: This pressure pad opens Door A but closes Door B, and blocks Door A, but allows access to Door B, etc.?
I've played a few maps that had a bit of everything in it. The logic ones (white block + green block ...) were ok, abet just time sinks to increase the map length. For the ones that have logic gates attached to switches, I understand most if not all all the types of gates and the outputs for each.
But all in all, it's up to you and what you are making. I could at least take a look and offer some advice, assuming you want it (sounds like you're stuck, maybe?)
And then there's the realizing the fact you could know a LOT more than me. :tongue.gif:
you should port this map to AdventureCraft and make some epicnes adventure.
Believe me, I really want to. Sadly, it would take quite a bit more time, and several scripts for mobs, weapons, npcs, and bosses, all of which I have no idea how to do.
Well, I spent the whole day finishing up the eastern palace. It took a huge amount of redstone work (most of it is Koros's brilliance) but I think it looks amazing. unfortunately it took longer than I would have liked, putting me in even more of a crunch. I think I will focus on only the major things remaining on the map and release it as a 0.9.0. While I would like to release a 100% map, if I dont have it up by sunday I wont get to work on it until the following friday.
Well, I didnt make as much progress as I would have liked today, but ah well. Got about 3 rooms of the desert temple done. I get tied up in making redstone work. In the game, alot of rooms are locked until you kill all the mobs. Obviously we cant do that in minecraft without mods, so I've made "dummy" mobs with switches under them. Flick all the switches and the door opens. It adds a little more to the game, but its sooo time consuming.
Map should be ready tomorrow. Just finishing this last dungeon then I will give it a quick mini-polish and send it off to the beta testers. Please remember this will be a version 0.9.0. It will be missing some very minor things but I will continue to update it until it is 100%
New desert palace exterior:
Entrance to the boss lair of the desert palace
An example of the custom art pack
When you see it, you'll **** bricks...
Fair enough! I'll be sure to send you a copy of the completed map :biggrin.gif:

ok, i'll probably ask him for help then.
Sure! I will send you the map as soon as it is ready (hopefully the next few days!)
