Ever wanted to wire redstone but have no idea how? Tried looking on the wiki and seen foreign symbols and logic gate jargon? Say no more! This is the perfect map for you! Instead of reading about redstone, walk through this map and learn first hand about redstone and how it works, as well as ways to use it. You'll learn everything from zero and work your way up to logic gates, pulsers, and short generators by the end of the map easily! The lessons move very slowly and make everything explicit. There is nothing extra in this map that will waste your time. It was designed as a tutorial:
*Uses wool color coding to point out parts of circuits
*Uses clear examples of every concept and technique
*Makes use of annotations to examples you can manipulate to learn from experience while still learning from the tutorial itself.
On a less frantic note, Redstone IS very confusing to beginners and I wish I had found a map just like this to help me learn step by step the concepts behind redstone when I first started out. Instead, I pass the knowledge I have onto those who wish to become redstone literate in an easy to understand, accessible, even fun way.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you: Pinkstone: Redstone for Dummies Redstone 101 & Redstone 102
The upcoming gold redstone standard for redstone literacy education.
It's a long map for a tutorial, in two parts: Redstone 101 & 102.
Should not take that long to complete, though. This is version 1.1 Feedback is appreciated.
Thanks to everyone who offered their feedback, this version has glowstone, since that is the one thing I heard, even though the style is lost somewhat by the glowstone. Over 550 downloads and counting!
Version 1.1 is out with glowstone to make it easier to see at night. Please remember that there is a bed in the chest to the left at the very beginning of the level. Also, download traffic has been consolidated to a single mediafire download.

These, and Maffew's tutorial, are my two go-to references for redstone. Have you considered adding a 103 for all the stuff that 1.0 has, to include pistons and piston clocks/on-of switches?
I believe this is a really comprehensive tutorial. I played through, despite my previous knowledge of redstone, to see what is was like. This is very easy to follow. I would suggest adding in pistons, because they are revolutionary and important to redstone. Perhaps a intermediant level?
AMAZING map!!! I suck at redstone.( I only know how to make basic stuff like an And gate and a not gate). I really wanted to make more advanced stuff so this map is a great help. And why don't you make an adfly link. You obviously did a lot of work and it has to pay off somehow. But anyways, I rate this map an 11 out of 10
One problem you need to place a block above that tnt because when you prime tnt i jumps up and will move a little. This prevents it from falling in the hole of water, but if you put a bock over the tnt it wont jump up and fall in the hole. I had to restart
When did you make this cause if you have a map made with a certian version of minecraft (dont know which one) the ocean will freeze over and on this map they froze over
And for the redstone blinking on and off thing, when you said to set it to three and face it away from the torch, I had to break it and do that because it was not like that. Was this intentional?

Anyways, great guide. I enjoyed it!
Reviving a dead thread much!
Anyway, if the creator is still there, pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaasssssssseeeeeee update this for the new redstone bits and bobs in the latest update. I'm in desperate need of a thorough tutorial.

Technically exists.
I put a media fire version up, not sure what's happening with the megaupload version, but I reuploaded that one as well.
