So I'm currently using an animation software with a minecraft player shape rig or whatever it's called. Unfortunately, the skin has to be in the older skin format. All the current online skin editors ( I use NovaSkin) has been updated to the new format that 1.8 is using. My new skin was created in the 1.8 format but i need it in a 1.7 format for the animation to work.
I think SkinDex's format is still 1.7 but i can't upload my skin on it because the format is wrong. I need to re-edit it but i can't use the Microsoft paint because it eliminates transparency. I tried using Sketchpad but the colors became messed up. I don't have photoshop or anything and gimp is not working for me. So how do I convert a 1.8 skin back to 1.7? I don't use those extra layers in the 1.8 updates but the format changed because the arms and legs can have separate designs. HELP ME PLEASE!!!

Hi there, I recently came across the same problem and found a solution.
The latest skins have a dimension of 64x64 pixels and the old ones have 64x32 pixels.
So to convert them, all you need to do is cut the new skin to half using programs like microsoft windows picture manager that can handle transparency and cut pictures by their pixel. Just remove all the lower part of the picture since those are the extra "armor". I hope that helps.

i have this problem in the custom npcs mod where the skin looks disfunctioned.
You can just post it here, and I'll do it for you.
All you have to do is upload it. It works, I've done it before.
