The override needs the indicator "custom_model_data" and a number.
In-game you can then display the texture by using the item you have assigned the texture to when you summon the item with the tag "CustomModelData" with the number. If you assigned it the number 1, then you need to use the number 1 to make the texture appear.
I want to animate items with CustomModelData.
I created an test.png.mcmeta file in the folder, where my png file with the textures is.
In the CustomModelData file I linked the texture to my png with the textures, but my item does not display the textures.
Has anyone done someting like this before? I could not find much about animated items with CustomModelData.
What's the dimensions of your "test.png"?

I know that. I created over 200 CustomModelData items.
They all work but not the animated one.
This is my override
And this is inside my model file:
ok, I get it to work.
I forget the frametime in the mcmeta file.
