I thought about how to make more realistic textures without losing the feel of minecraft itself, and decided that changing the pixels to, instead of being squares, to be random shapes. I don't really know how to upload the images to this, but I tried.
I just want to know if there is an easier way to do this without manually going from 16x16 to 256x256, and selecting each of the 256 pixel's colors and brushing around the pixel's boundaries.
No, I was suggesting him to use Realistico or R3DCraft instead of creating a weird new pack because they are perfect for what he wants
I was talking about ripping Mojang's textures. Doing tiny edits on Mojang's textures and redistributing it would pretty much break the rules on the forums

I do not think that Realistico or R3D Craft count as "tiny edits"
And to answer the original question, one thing you could do is open the file in Photoshop, then scale the picture up to 256 and add a filter, such as crystalize. You could even automate this by making a batch script.

I wasn't talking about Realistico or R3D Craft, since those are complete recreations that follow fair use. I'm talking about OP's idea.
And your idea would be illegal as well. Up scaling and filtering Mojang's original work will not be tolerated if distributed on these forums.

Oh okay, I see. Upscaling and filtering the Minecraft textures is not illegal, but distributing them is. (it seems like) OP made no intention of posting the textures, they just wanted to know how to upscale them.

Actually, I wouldn't recommend the Faithful pack at all...
If you want more realistic textures but with the same look of vanilla minecraft, try the Realistico Resource Pack by Matteo Rizzo (https://matteorizzo.me/realistico/) or the R3D Craft by Alvtron (http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/resource-packs/1241290-r3d-craft-play-minecraft-in-high-definition-15-07)
The Realistico is made in Italy so you must like it. You know, Pizza and Virdex are both made in Italy, so you should like Realistico too.
This would be stealing.
Please don't redistribute Mojang's (or anyone's) textures on here without proper permission.

Oh, ok. Sorry
