On a scale of 1 to NOPE! How much would you like to give this little guy a kiss?
Just curious.
Well life threw me a curve ball recently... and bloodied my nose with it. I'd like to continue this baseball analogy, but I'm not sure how to do so. The point is that I'm down and out and so I probably won't be as competitive in this as I wanted to be. Hopefully you'll all have fun anyway. So far it seems like things are going well. So much FANTASTIC artwork!
Newest addition to the hostile mob pack, the zombie. Once saw a player skin with a brain showing so I thought I'd try that out. Zombie is clothed with some torn leather. Tried playing around with the hue of the skin between green and blue, and this colour seemed to fit best. As for the black pixel on the temple, might be an ear hole, maybe Frankenstein's monster's bolt, not sure exactly.
Thanks for putting you first five all in one screenshot. Makes it so much easier to keep score.
I think my only critique is that the skull inside of the zombie's head is just bone-white, which makes for a weird outline for the brain. Not sure if you're trying to avoid gore (which would seem odd give the exposed brain), but I think it should be red instead.
Not sure if the snowman counts because the pumpkin is pre-existing but at least it inspired me to make the snow block texture as well.
I'm going to make a ruling that if the game forces you to reuse assets from one texture to another (pumpkin on snowman, mushrooms on the mooshroom, the same eyes file on multiple spiders, etc.) that this doesn't count against you for the purposes of that rule so long as the rest of the texture is unique.
Also, if you're playing 1.9, you can clip the pumpkin off with sheers.
Pig and sheep. A shaven sheep in Minecraft looks quite horrid in my opinion, they're never really shave to the bare skin. Filled in some big areas with the simplest dithering possible.
That pig looks like it's been over the pit fire long enough and is ready to eat. Nice and golden brown. Yum.
Hopefully someday I can get into random mobs, I'd love to show different causes of death in zombies and skeletons.
Skeletons seem to be popular in this competition. I'm loving the variety in the designs as well. For such a basic mob, it's interesting to see how unique each one is even at low resolutions. Nice!
There's still plenty of time to grab some extra points before the deadline expires. If you're finished, please take the time to assemble your work into a single forum post to make it easier on the voters. Thank you for participating!
So for what may be my final texture... ENDERMITE!
I had planned to do a lot more for this contest, but unfortunately life happend in the middle of it. Ah well. As long as everyone had fun then I'm happy with the result no matter what!
Only one. The rules state that textures which reuse assets don't count as unique, and I think all of those use the same basic pattern. Even the donkey. Still, props on getting those finished. Horses are a PAIN!
The butterflies seemed popular, so I added 6 more using random mobs. (i think only 5 showed up in that screenshot)
I'm not sure that any of them are unique enough to be considered their own texture since they seem to share a base, but they look amazing none the less! Bravo!
I've improved my creeper and added it into my collective post. I kept the familiar feel of the iconic creature and made the body from intertwined vines branching from the spine.
Edit: Alvoria, the link to my entry in the OP links to the wrong comment.
Cool creeper! I agree that you made it seem more plant-like. Nice!
As to the link, it should have been working. I changed it slightly, so please check again to see if it's working for you. If it isn't, would you please tell me which comment it's directing you to? Thank you.
This goes for everyone else as well. Please check to make sure the links are working and that I've tallied your mobs correctly.

I doubt I will finish this in time mainly because it's tedious and I lack motivation. I know this won't count as an entry but I wanted to show off what I did so far anyway

Why do you think it shouldn't count as an entry? I don't see anything wrong with it. If there's a good reason then I won't add it, otherwise I'll happily welcome you to the contest!
Oh... I didn't realize I didn't show the untextured parts....heh...
Maybe this'll explain it.
Ah, yea, that explains it quite well. Thank you.
VOTING WILL BE LIVE TOMORROW!
If you haven't done so already, please make a post containing all of the valid screenshots that you're entering. It's not necessary, but it makes life much easier on the voters!
There's only so much one can do with a giant white bear, but I'm pleased. The Sassgaard Shulker texture also sort of misbehaves in the snapshot, but since it's snapshot mobs I'm doing tonight, I didn't want to re-launch Minecraft just for a screenshot.
I'm going to assume that even though I've done the Shulker twice, being it's for two different packs at two resolutions, it should count?

Oooh! Nice! I love that bear. It's just so hugable! <3

Yea, it's covered under the same rules as variants and random mobs. Nothing is re-used between the two (for obvious reasons) so each is considered it's own texture.

Should we be voting for individual textures or the artists' sets as a whole? Also, are we limited to one vote or should we just vote on all the ones we like?
EDIT: Of course I answered my own questions after reading your post again. Silly me....
I really like Loki's textures, that's my vote, I submitted it!
Lol when I don't get a single vote, don't have PC so couldn't make a combined post. But hey, at least I'm happy with the mobs I made for my own pack! Still great motivation!
In second place is eleazzaar with two points! Congratulations!
And in third place is... a five-way tie between everyone else who participated. Congratulations to us as well!
All around, great job to everyone who entered. This was a lot of fun, and I hope to do it again sometime. I hope you all enjoyed this contest, and I look forward to the next one.

I'm glad you got some mobs done. Ultimately, if a few packs are a few mob textures richer then this contest has served it's purpose. And hey, at least you got one point from having a sixth mob texture so you ended up in a draw with everyone else anyway.

I know what you mean. I wasn't expecting this much amazing content!

A bit bland, but still cool.

Nice! I love those little additions!
I've never really thought snails were cute... but those snails are kinda cute.
Nice big brown spider. A bit generic, but looking good. I love the asymmetrical eyes. It gives it a little bit of extra unnatural-ness. Well done!

I'm pretty late, but I've never textured a mob before and I want to try it I'll be back with pictures >:)
I think this is as close as I'll get to doing a mob before the deadline: a half-finished Shulker.
On the bright side, it's the first 100% new texture I've done for Triton pretty much... all year? Yeah, gotta work on that.
So for what may be my final texture... ENDERMITE!

Aw... that's a shame. I've been enjoying seeing your art again. Also, that creeper looks cool. Very basic, but instantly identifiable.
Sorry, I can't count it for the contest. Minimum entry is one mob texture. Not 0.5, not 0.6, but 1 whole mob texture. Sorry about that.
You've still got the better part of a week to finish it, though. I hope you do since it looks amazing!
Thank you very much for that! It makes linking so much easier.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to rule that the visibility mobs are too simple. You won't get any points for them. Sorry, but I need to keep things fair.

VOTING HAS BEGUN!
Vote for the texture artist you believe has submitted the best mob textures for this contest! Voting will end in one week!
Additionally, it's not too late to offer feedback to the participants on their creations. Let these fine artists know what you think of their work!
