It doesn't work because you are totally skipping a step. The Blockmodels file should point to the models .JSON file, which then references individual .PNGs. It looks like you are going straight from blockmodles to .PNGs. Won't work.
The stone sword has a bit of a different style than the others which makes it look a bit strange, seems like it could do with a stronger outline to fit in with the other tools a bit better I think.
I've decided to start learning how to make myself my own little texture pack! To help my pack look a little more.. Congruent, I guess the word would be, I decided to make myself a palette like I've seen be used for packs with a similar style to the one I want to try to make, something very pixel-y and whimsical. enough with rambling, here's my question.. Well, first, here's my palette so far:
my question is this: people who are much more used to this stuff than I am, does it look like I'm missing any significant blocks of color to work with? I know I still need my greyscale tones and some brown, but other than that it looks like there's something.. missing here somehow and I can't put my finger on it. I tried my best to cover all of the wool/clay/glass colors minus the greys and brown.
Yeah, I was thinking of maybe adding a bit of lighter purple, at the very least.. I'll go make a few textures with what I have so far plus some kind of nice chromatic grey scale and see if I feel like there's anything missing.
Thanks for the advice!
I love your art by the way, I was lurking in some old pages in this thread and I saw the bookshelf models and textures you did, they're really cute! I'm certainly not code savvy enough to figure out that kind of cool stuff.. and I'm not sure if my computer would like it if I tried, lol.
I fixed my palette! (I think) also white wool, silver/light grey, grey and black wools, to test my warmer grey scale there (little black box is just a 16x16 template)
I know the wool looks pretty similar to some others I've seen, but it's my favorite way to draw it that I've seen or figured out.. I like how versatile it is, tiles in a cute pattern-y way and doesn't have a border on it. only problem I have with my colors so far is that grey wool and black wool look very similar, and if i make it any lighter it looks too close to the light grey color, but I'm like 99% sure the standard black and grey/dark grey have that 'problem' too. Probably just me being a bit nitpicky.
Looks marvellous; I really like the grass. I do think your wood looks a slightly bit odd though; I can't put my finger on it though.
God save the Queen.
Long live the Queen.
I was actually thinking the same about the wood. I think it's the shading, but it might work if there were more planks (maybe 4)
Is there a face in the bottom left block there?
I saw the face too!!!
It probavly is the carved stonebrick
Jingle bells, decay and fails

Dungeons night, was never right

It's a stony avocado obviously...
Looks cool though, I like the highlights on the cobble, it's a pretty interesting way of doing it (instead of using clusters).
IMHO it is clearly a face, and clearly indended to be a face.

Finished the Birch log and finally fixed the tiling with the grass.
The black stripes on the corners look sort-of like eyes...
I always thought birch trees in real life looked like eyes so I tried to go with that design.
Make the blade either black or white. Those blade colors are barely used

There are many colors that are nearly identical, work on minimizing the color count. It keeps the pack looking consistent
Man, I'm so excited for this! It's looking really good. I don't think I'll be of any help on choosing a name, I'm terrible with coming up names
