Hey all, looking to get some feedback on some textures I've been working on as I'm not entirely sure if I like them or not.
Normal and smooth versions of diorite, stone, andesite and granite along with cobble, stone brick, obsidian and bedrock on the bottom row.
Going for something somewhat simple without lacking details, using a set palette (that could still change before its too late).
@Meapers: Sweet textures, loving the stone and that the ores are really popping out.
In my opinion, stone bricks and slabs look too flat. Try to give them some more shading/detail. And yes, bedrock looks too similar to obsidian. I think it should be more blackish.
Anyways, I finished the Netherrack and the quartz ore.
@Rullstol, I agree with everyone on the obsidian, but I feel like you can do more with the slabs and the stone bricks. Take this for example (really quick edit)
Has anybody figure out what's up with the self-destruction of formatting when you edit post?
It is driving me to madness.
That has been happening to me a lot. It's on & off for me. One day it will be pointless to edit post, next day it's perfectly fine. I don't know what the problem is.
I know it's total crap... that's why I'll use a backup .txt of all my code in my OPs... although it also helps when your backup wasn't locked in a hard drive.
Speaking of which I'll have to finally repair my OP for Chromatose here...
I made cobblestone, and I am re-posting the grass and planks because I want critiques!
-EDIT- Page git!
-snip-
The textures look great!
However, there's a tiling error in the dirt. It has a vertical, dark line running between each block. Also, I feel as though the cobblestone is too uniform. For example, here is a cobblestone texture that I made a while ago.
Notice how much of it looks basically the same. It starts to blend together. Now, after adding a little bit of randomization, it looks like this.
While my texture may have gone a bit overboard, the lesson is still there. Variate your textures.
Made some more textures, and revamped the sand and stone.
The woods are: Oak, Spruce, Birch and Acacia, along with their respective leaves The other ones are tall grass and fern + extra tall variants.
@Ringoster: I have some comments on your palette from the SPS3. You said over there that this is the first time you make one, I thought of giving you some feedback on what I felt using it.
First of all, I like the colors, you chose some very good ones, and the transitions between them are very spot on. There are also some gray-brown-yellow synergies floating around that I quite like. The blues and purples (and if you stretch it a bit, the grays too) also have a good deal of combinations. I have yet to figure them out, as they were the ones I used the least, however, I think I was able to make 6-7 combination for the lapiz lazuli ore alone when mixing them, so I definitely see potential there.
However, I think the greens are not very balanced, the contrast is too high between the darkest and lightest tone, and the two middle ones. At first I was worried about the red being too brown-ish, but once you combine it with other colors it really looks red, so it's all good.
Overall it's great, the reds, browns, yellows and blues have some good synergies, but the greens need to be tweaked as the extremes of the ramp are way too contrasting for a general use.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
This is my signature. Yes, there's nothing interesting here, so carry on.
Do you have to be part of the union to post textures for feedback? (and if so, how much has becoming a member that changed since the last update of he op)

There really is no union anymore. Certainly nothing close to 'membership' since we have no leadership to process applications at the moment. If you want feedback, post pictures and people will give you feedback if they feel like doing so.
If/when you finish this, it'll no doubt become my new favorite pack. Looks amazing o:
The bedrock looks too purple (and too much like the obsidian) in my opinion

Love the colours and the tiling is perfect!
Very nice! I like the paintings
Hey everyone.
I made some stuff with Ringo's palette from the SPS 3, what do you think?
Clockwise, from top left corner:
Cobblestone + Mossy, Grass top and side, stone and ores, bricks, gravel, farmland dry and irrigated dirt and sand.
Looking good Not so sure I like the stone. Doesn't tile nicely and you can see borders.
It's not that hard. Just duplicate your current wheel, use that for the 2nd and 4th pull backs and make another to fit inside for the 1st and 3rd.
For example, here's a quick pulley I made. It's a bit of an optical illusion if you look which direction it's moving though...
Or here's a smoother one with three frames. No optical illusion any more though!

Made some spruce planks:
May I ask what's the status of the new thread?
@Fishy, looks great. Not sure how I like the way it gradients, seems like too much to me
