Kind of out of the blue but anyone up for a group texture pack?
You mean a pack by a group of people with completely different styles, resolutions and texturing abilities that will have very little visible theme due to the amount of variance in quality and appearance between members?
Sure, I'm game.

I can adapt to certain peoples styles. But yeah that. Or we could just group up people with similar styles.

I don't think grouping people would be a great idea, I think it would be better, if we did this, to just have everybody on one pack. It wouldn't necessarily be bad to have variance, and it would certainly be good practice and incentive for me, trying to make something good enough to fit the rest of the TAU's textures.
On a note of my own, what does everyone think of a "pack of the year" contest? I would add in a pack when it gets a vote, then continued votes for the pack would be counted. Packs could be set into certain categories, to separate packs like Vattic's Faithful and Sphax, from the *cough* better *cough* not insanely well known packs.

While there's talk of collaborations and things, I propose a challenge.
It's the 'Alpha Pack Challenge.' It'll be very fast, because all you have to texture is the terrain.png for the last version of Minecraft Alpha. It's simple. Pixel art only, everyone submits a palette and we work from there. A shortish time limit so that it doesn't drag on too long, and a friendly competition. Thoughts?

I think we should first make sure there is absolutely no other competition in this section currently going on, and then cut what needs to be done down, because I don't think I've seen any competition asking for even the entire terrain.png ever finishing, because everyone ends up abandoning it (except for Steel's contest, of course).
I want to have a competition like that, it would be good practice for me in pixel art, but none ever seem to make it to the end.

I'm actually up for this and wouldnt mind competing with others.
Now that Bitly somehwhat looks like a pack, again...old thread or new thread? I think it almost looks like a new pack... It looks nothing like the first Bitly...

EDIT: Except for the grass.
No need to make a new thread. I don't even see why you would want to make a new one.
Also, the image in your signature doesn't link to the thread.

I know. It's not released just yet.
I don't know if I should release it as Bitly. It doesn't look like it at all. And no-one comments on the thread anymore- its just me with un-seen updates.

If it's not "released" then it doesn't matter how much you change it.

I'm all for it. Although, would there be any limits to what packs would be entered? Also, if a pack is lesser known, won't it get less votes?

Just so that you understand, it's the Alpha terrain.png- that's this:
This could possibly be the first challenge everyone would finish their work. I'm up for this. Anyways, i dusted of my Wacom again and gave a shot at style similiar to LoL, Torchlight etc. Opinions? WOuld you like the grassymoss or the vines better? The big chunks in stone wasn't the best idea imo.
That's absolutely gorgeous, perhaps the best textures I've ever seen. (Especially that stone brick.) I love the large-chunk style stone, and it's tiling could easily be remedied with CTM. I really like your colors, makes me want to try out some handpainted HD art.
Kind of out of the blue but anyone up for a group texture pack?
I'm in how about we list the textures we are self-proclaimed experts at? and split it from there? and then anyone can make any edit to any texture later on.
Just so that you understand, it's the Alpha terrain.png- that's this:
I was around in alpha and I'm pretty sure that terrain.png was from before alpha. I believe they changed the mineral blocks to use one texture for all 6 faces prior to alpha. Unless I'm mistaken.
However, I was thinking of the latest terrain.png, and an alpha version should be fine, but it still has wheat... I hate wheat...

I like that.
That's what I would want to show off most.
I would put the category with Faithful, Sphax, etc. at the bottom of the category list so you would see the underrated, less known ones first,

Would I be allowed to participate?
