Thank you very much for your answers, they were really helpfull. I managed to solve most of my problems with the texture after three more hours of work on it and now I´m pretty satisfied with the result. It has a bit more contrast in comparison to the other ores but I can fix that later.
Yeah it's to 'flat.
I hope you don't mind, but I took it into photoshop and did a small edit to try and help give you some idea how to make it more gem like.
Yes I did this with a smooth brush, as it was faster for me to do and as well, I don't have the normal size of this ;3, but can be easy in pixel as well.
Heres my diamond from my pack that you are also free to use as a ref, as it's in the same shape you're trying for.
Hope this helps give you an idea how to make it gem like.
So here's more of that portal 2 pack thing I showed off earlier.
I'm thinking of calling it Schematic, but I'm not sure yet. it has to be one word, though, because the last two packs I've made are one word.
(1024x1024 image!)
I think some of the copy/pasting is off by a pixel or so, but you can see it.
I've decided to make both 64x and 128x versions of the pack. I tried 32x, but it looked terrible.
Too strange...
It's been fine here, and as it is only ever relevant to texture pack creators/users, this is the most sensible place for it. I understand it being a tool, but it is much better being here for the people who use it.
Time to advertise:
I spent about 3 hours today on my water animations, and I would like you guys to check it out. Link in my sig. Also, I am advertising since I still don't think you all have seen my pack yet

The official Bluebird continuation is underway! Please come and help keep the pack alive!
how bad is this grass? looking at other packs, just about every pack i could find had tiling errors for grass. ive managed to get rid of the grid problem though. is this grass decent, or should i scrap it and start over?
when viewed from high up is where it gets problematic...
but with heavy use of random ctm clutter, could it be broken up into a nice grass texture?

If you added a couple of darker splotches to that light diagonal line the tiling issues will be about as unnoticeable as they can be without ctm. With ctm added in it will look really nice!
Just thought I would pop in once every few hundred years and say hi like the mythical sasquatchian nightmare I am. Also I finally updated a pack I was working on having something to do with Legend of Zelda and such so in celebration Smiley faces and kittens for everyone. What was this thread about again? Oh yeah Kirby right?
Grass is by far very hard to not get tileing error in it. But right now you do have a clear diagonal line forming, that as said add a few darker bits will help it fade away.
Some more progress on my 512x Blocks. (In game pics at bottom)
finished now: all wood planks, furnace, dispenser, workbench, glowstone (W.I.P), Stone brick smooth/cracked/mossy.
Apparently I'm actually doing this 512 thing more than I had originally planned -.-, lol. Let me know what you think
Also really enjoyed building the showcase presentation for these feel free to use this method/layout!!

The Stone Bricks are a little too gritty IMO, and the dispenser's circle face looks a bit flat, but other than that it looks awesome.

Yes! A challenge for my new computer! I made a 512x512 test and could actually use it with the shaders and get no significant lag. Bring that on! I'd try that with the shaders, it should be insane!
The textures are amazing though. After you just finished all the textures for the workbench, I thought it would take... Almost a year for you to get the terrain.ong (or "blocks" folder) completed, but then, in one night, you whip out a handful of 512x512 in the time it took me to do one 64x64 leaves texture.

Can someone make a replica of that glowstone in the real world? It really is something to weep tears of joy over. Sooo beautiful!
I'm not really one for massive 512x textures, but without a doubt I'm looking forward to trying this out and seeing what my 'old' beast of a machine can do with it! "Do or die my pretty!"
@ Sky I've been watching you.......... just not had time to give feedback.
WOW bud you have been productive!! Some fantastic work in a very short period of time on a big jump up in canvas size!!
Your 512 work has a Illustrative style about it, which i think will go well with MC as the photo 512 packs just look out of place IMO.
A daunting task to do the whole pack again at 512, but with the design already done you just have to focus on the up scaling and level of detail. I see can lots of photoshop techniques being used so you are really coming along with what works for you and at quite an impressive rate!
My only crits would be shadow/depth work its this that will force the eye to see the flat face as 3d and some are looking amazing but flat, your in the real world now pixels don't come into it at 512+. Look how traditional fine art paintings using light and dark on big canvas's but they look like you can reach into them.
The chats we have had you have no real art background I'm seriously impressed with your natural ability. I have another pack idea in mind for later on i think you have pushed me to 512 (was 256) but why not.
SO with your progress whats your expected release? lol
Yeah.....strange, isn't it?

So you're going to use the shelf and some of the books from the workbench on your bookshelf? Cheater!
Do you actually intend to make a full 512x512 version? Brr... Unthinkable.

Same could be said with yours
I don't know why I put that there.
