I also tried a bit of dithering, it's in 64x and it's my first try, and good?
Thats a "meh" try at it. Dithering was invented with the purpose to make a few colors appear to be many more colors, and to make gradients possible with a few colors. Here is an example of proper dithering:
Notice how the pixels slowly merge into their respective colors. When you size it down it looks smooth:
Here is a comparison to what you did:
I know you were trying stylized dithering, but that only works in certain situations. In fact, that can be said about dithering in general. It should only be used very subtly. If you need a new color, don't be scared to just pick up a new color

Wow, you should just make a tutorial on it. What is the size of the one you did?
It really gives a nice atmosphere... (no pun intended)
my texture pack NEEDS this! is it going to be released with 1.3? ive not been bothering with snapshots, or knowing whats in them, or what will be released when due to me not being quite far enough into my tp to worry about it yet, but that looks amazing... can these be varied by biome?
awesome. i shall have to wait until optifine catches up due to me needing the fps boost to even run my own texture pack but... it will, and usually pretty fast. due to some of the features that patcher and optifine each had that became vital to the look of the game, they seem to have started syncing their features with each other, since both primarialy do the same thing.
Ugh, I told myself I wouldn't participate in the PMC skin contest, but I just couldn't miss a chance to do a raulphie roach skin. If you could give me some feedback, it would be much appreciated.

I agree, I think mine is 32x as I struggle getting any detail in 16x and I haven't been able to properly experiment in 64x or higher but I hope to when I get a tablet.
Also, I wanted to do some touch ups with the sand I posted a while back and also made a sandstone texture:
exactly. for me it's 64x. i do it all by mouse, but i spend forever on each texture and im pretty patient, and do a lot of scrolling details. i like to stay just outisde the realm of pixel art, but anything bigger than 64x just seems overdone to me, too much space to fill.

Did you suddenly become a moderator? Or am I late to the realization?
Thanks man! I'll be sure to post the results here Also, I vote you should use that little guy as your new avatar. Just get rid of the space, and put an outline around it, maybe finish off the rest of his body "off camera". It'd look awesome!

I'll see if I can fix that.
it looks like you've found the resolution that best suits your style.
i believe everyone naturally has a perfect resolution, and this seems to be yours.
That's my answer to that...
Also exactly how large can you make your avatar?

Jesus Christ well done, that's amazing.
Wow. Just wow.
And I thought I had a chance :\
Still absolutely amazing. Mind If I use your sun kinda as a ref for my own? I'm not happy with the bubbly look I gave mine.
Also, played around in SAI today. I really wanna get better at digital painting, I might try some painted textures like wolfhound.
