I'm having issues with getting my resource pack to wok nicely with MCPatcher 5 - in particular CTM door textures. My resource pack is used in conjunction with my Bukkit plugin TARDIS to make Iron doors look like TARDIS doors. Below is one the properties files that I used successfully with MCP 4.x:
block<block ID>.properties - how would i name it for pink carpet ?
and where do i put the 0.png for the pink carpet in relation to the .prop
lets say i have this set up
-ctm
--LDcarpet
---Pink
-0.png
-block(171 2?).properties
I do not know what all i need for .prop. (i would like it to be active on every block always in every biome to cover the wool texture.)
i know that i need-metadata=171 2 ,tiles=0 '
I can't seem to get my layered CTM to work properly, so I assume I'm missing something somewhere.
I have a vertical+horizontal block that uses tiles 0-6 (making 1 and 5 the middle blocks for each direction). Tiles 7-10 are random vertical middles, and 11-14 are random horizontal middles. My 173a.properties file looks like this:
matchTiles=1.png
method=random
tiles=1 7 8 9 10
..but my vertical middles are not randomizing. Am I missing something?

I'm almost 100% positive that this have been suggested before but i'll suggest it again anyways

Full file path needs to be specified for any file not in /textures/blocks.

Thanks! That lead to me trying out a bunch of long file paths that didn't work, but it also got me to find the shortcut I needed. For anyone else having this problem, the change I needed is highlighted in red:
I've gotten acquainted with the workings of a fancy little tool known as BD Cubik [pro], which allows me to create simple, but effective 3D models for some of the blocks in minecraft. Aside from that I've been dabbling in some advanced voodoo with CTM. Now I ponder as to wether or not these two incredible features can be combined. Is there anyone that can shed light on this matter?
Not currently, but integration with custom models is a planned feature of CTM (and possibly custom colors as well).
Do any of the tiling methods allow me to get two different blocks to recognize each other when connecting? Like if I wanted my normal cobblestone to connect with my mossy, or my grass blocks to connect with a vertical dirt pattern?

No, this is not possible, but is a commonly requested feature.
my question is..Is there a way to get a randomized block to change to a different block after you've already placed a block down?
Breaking the block and replacing with the same block type always puts the same block back.
if anyone can give me an answer i would really appreciate it.
No, this isn't possible. The simple reason is that nothing in Minecraft (or in computers in general for that matter) is ever truly random. In the case of CTM, it uses the block's position as the seed value. This is done to keep things consistent every time you open the world. The same concept applies to how you always get the same world when you input the world seed. In that case, it's to make sure you get the same world every time you put in that seed. The same behavior also exists in vanilla with lily-pads which always face the same direction if you break them and place them down in the exact same spot.
it would have made my star wars pack that much better.
i guess i could use weights and really plan ahead
"if i understand weights correctly"
tile=0 1
weights=20 1
after every 20th block i would get the # 1 block wright ?
so in theory i could go place 20 blocks somewhere else and hit that
21 st block where i wanted it to be ?
or am i comletley wrong.
Am i correct in thinking that if i put my weight at 20-1
Then every 21st block will be (-1) so in theory i could
lay 20 of said block off anywhere and on the 21st put it where
i wanted it to go and it would be there.
am i way off ?
You're way off.
It would be more accurate to say that out of any given 21 blocks, on average, one of them will be the 'rare' variant. It's basically a 1 in 21 chance of that variant being selected. The one with the 20 weight would have be 20 in 21 chance of being selected. However, the selection will still be the same pseudorandom thing it always is. That is, there's no way to control "random" CTM in-game.
Hey I'm fairly new to this stuff, and I have a few questions that I didn't see answered in the original post.
1. is there any way to make blocks other than glowstone, sea lanterns, etc. create light. I wanted to put a chandelier texture on a web block.
2. is it possible to have metadata's of ladders, cause everything i tried didn't work (if you want to see what i tried just ask, don't really know how to do anything XD)
thanks for any help, i will probably have more questions later.
There are properties files for each direction the door can face - all the files can be viewed on my GitHub account: https://github.com/eccentricdevotion/TARDIS-MCP/tree/master/assets/minecraft/mcpatcher/ctm/door
They used to look like this:
Now I just get the default iron door texture
Any help would be appreciated

Putting the CENDENT back in transcendent!

The period represents "current folder/file path".
Edit: The results.

I'm a noob at ctm. my ctm files are random like this
(EXAMPLE)
tiles=150-154
method=random
this is the extent of my knowledge thus far.
I've read through page 8 or so and haven't seen an
answer to my question yet and i appolagize if it's on a later page.

It's to bad really ,that would have been awesome.

i really do appreciate it.
i tried to reply earlier but it didn't work.

its really to bad that it wont work .
I'm not sure i completely understand weights .

Has anyone figured out how to make biome specific cobblestone walls? I tried, but failed to make a snow covered version for the snowy biomes.
You have to use the full path to the texture for any tile not in /textures/blocks.

im trying to make more than 1 water texture but everything i try doesnt work please help!!!!!!!
Liquids don't support CTM.
Dat signature tho...
dang it, i was trying to make a legend of zelda wind waker style water for my personal pack with like occasional waves but nvm then D:
