oh god, all I can remember from the animaniacs was the episode where the guy was having a yard sale, and they took it a bit literally.
Also I was hoping you would pull a borderlands and say
"I have one question for you and one question only. EXPLOSIONS?"
as tot he actual explosion texture I like it I like the different circles rising out from the rest unlike how most are connected, and I like that wool it is scary how good the sheep and the wool look, I could just stare at them 0,=,0
p.s. I don't literally check twice a day, It was an exaggeration meaning that I would be off the internet for a while to.
It was a garage sale, actually. It ended with the joke of someone next week having a yard sale.
I haven't played borderlands, actually, but it sounds like my kinda game.
I'm glad you enjoy looking at my texture pack. Hopefully a lot of other people will agree with you.
Oh, and me neither. Most days it's way more often than twice a day.
That explosion is amazing. Why is it the default explosions don't look fiery? They really should be considering that is exploding; it's not like Ghast explosions don't occur due to a fireball, and creepers obviously explode using natural gunpowder (somehow). So in conclusion, tires.
Yea, the default explosions seem to lack punch. Especailly with the new sound effect, they seem to lack punch. It used to be that when I died in an explosion it would startle me and make me feel like, yea, that's fair that that should have killed me. Now between the lame sound and the even lamer graphic it feels more like explosive flatulence than an actual explosion. I end up feeling like I shouldn't have to die to something so lame, even if it's point blank and I have no armor.
I have to say, having played with my own animation for a couple of days explosions feel more powerful, even though they still sound lame. A ghast nearly made me jump out of my skin earlier today, even though I was wearing Armor of Immune to Everything +1.
I was worried that it wouldn't be good, but it's definitely an improvement.
And now, for something completely different much the same as all the rest of this stuff: Water Fall!
It took a bit of work to get it to make it match the still water, but I think it turned out pretty well.
Only two animation and a logo to go. If all goes well and I don't catch the plague that's been going out at work, it's entirely possible I'll release this pack in the next 2-3 weeks! Stay tuned!
Hmm We don't have any water here, though if you want I could give you some milk.. but you don't want milk? well I could always remove all the fat in milk then it would be like water, No, cool-aid? ain't got no cool-aid, I could add some fruit juice to this milk however
and now for something completely different, the water texture looks good

Thanks! Here's the lava that goes with it:
I didn't expect to get this done today. Depending on how ambitious I'm feeling, I may also knock out the still lava animation since I have a bit of an idea for it. We'll see.
it is a pet shop monty python skit... a milk shop doesn't work well with it doesn't it, the guy wants a cat but all the shop has is a terrier, he offers to trim the legs and put pipes through its snout so it looks like a cat... and it goes on of how the guy can turn dogs in to other things.
Well you definitely captured the image of a waterfall, but isn't it a bit...opaque? Waterfalls do move fast and it make it hard to see through them, but they will be a little transparent. Plus it'd be even more annoying on a mining trip not being able to look through the water easily. Anyway, even though the closest I've seen to a lava-fall is video from Hawaii's ever-flowing volcano, the lava looks very nice as well.

It's been forever since I've watched Flying Circus.

Yea, it's a bit opaque, but it's not too bad. I have trouble seeing through the default water more than I do this water. Plus the ores are obvious enough (most of them anyway) so I don't think it's a huge problem. I've been playing with it for weeks now, and I've yet to see a problem with it.
you know al, you've attracted a little cult following
Two people does not a cult make. If there are more followers, I wish they'd speak up more often.
OK, I need to get some feedback on this still lava. I'm not going to lie, I'm having a lot of trouble getting the still lava animation just right. This is why you're not all playing with this thing right now instead of reading this post.
The one I have right now, shown below, has a distinct pattern, but the animation breaks it up a little bit. I want to know if you think it'll be distracting.
there are like 9 people who consistently check this, only two constantly post though, and I think the reason you are disliking the still lava is the yellow bits that stick out, they don't connect well with the other blocks of lava, I suggest that you remove them or make them connect
Hmm...It looks decent, but if you're going for the same look as flowing lava, then you may want to make a brighter base and some "partially cooled" patches strewn about it kind of like if you made [vanilla] cobblestone look like lava.

I decided to go with the cobble look, but I'm keeping the dark base. If I can't do large areas of "hot" lava, I'm going to go with tiny ones. Mostly, the surface of still lava should be cool and starting to harden anyway, so that makes sense to me.
Here's the current version:
I like this one quite a bit more. When it starts flowing with the much brighter colors, it really feels like you've broken the surface of the cooled lava and the glowing molten mineral is pouring out, with just specks of the cooled crust trailing along for the ride. It's very striking, and I think I'll probably end up going with it.
If I decide I'm happy with this, that only leaves the logo. I have the general layout already in mind, so it shouldn't take too long. Both are going to have wooden borders, and wooden-looking lettering. This is mainly to keep consistency with the carved wood look of most of the menus and the hot bar. There will probably also be some metal corners and the like. Not sure about the background. I'm going to try a few things and see which one I like.
Once that's done I'll send everyone who's willing to take screenshots of their builds for my thread a pre-release version. While I'm waiting on pics, I'll be working on the thread layout. Official release should be sometime next week.

The only problem is that it takes some getting used to. Because it's so dark, I nearly walked into the stuff a couple of times last night while mining in my single player world.
I'm not planning to lighten it any, though. Like everything else with a texture pack, it'll just take some getting used to.
hmm, I suggest making the Lettering for minecraft a bit darker and changing the creeper in the A's eye color to red. other then that I like it, alot
I decided instead to lighten the background. I think it looks better that way. Here, have a look.
And no, I'm keeping the emerald creeper eyes.
Also, I'm tweaking the lava color a little bit. It was too dark (and too purple), and I kept walking into it or not registering it as lava. Here's the latest version:
I'm going to continue to tweak and optimize thing for a while. Also, if there's anything that I haven't shown off yet that anyone would like to see screenshots of, let me know. I'd like to get everything as perfect as possible before release.
Looks nice now that the nether is complete and you can actually show it off. I line how you made it look like there's ores next to MINECRAFT on the logo and how you put "Sanity Edition." Nice touches. Now, for "Sanity Edition" did you copy letters from the file or did you do it specifically for that? Because it looks amazing.
Uh, oh! Looks like mojang released the individual textures in the new snapshot! Looks like you'll have to update it for 1.5 now that the format is released.
kk, was looking for a contrast and that fixed it, plus the creeper eye thing was just a personal preferance, but other then that I am happy with your texture pack, ciao

Thanks! It's always bugged me how people put their texture pack's name as the logo. I'm not changing the name of the game, or even how the game functions. I'm just changing the textures, so it seemed natural to make it an "edition" of Minecraft rather than change the entire name.

Yup, a texture artist's work is never done.
I'm not updating to snapshots because there's always the possibility that things will change. With the unstitcher tool Dinnerbone posted and a little technical know-how it won't take long to alter the format. I'm more concerned about how on earth I'm going to top those amazing quartz textures!

Yea, I figured that's what you meant since it stuck out at me as well. Glad you like the pack.

I take it all back. Pack's canceled. Thank you, and good day.
Just kidding.
Here's my first draft of the in-game logo:
Thoughts, ideas, suggestions? Let me know, 'cause this thing is almost ready to ship!!!

I actually found a font that was made to mimic the default Minecraft font, and then altered it with effects and shading and stuff.
