The majority of the terrain file is good and done! Now what I needed would be some alpha testers to jump on in and help me nitpick problematic areas. Those issues encountered would be easy for me to correct if screen-shots are posted to better define the defective parts of the texture pack. I understand colours might seem dull, one of the challenges I took upon in doing combating my own colour-blindness. I must say Its been a fun ride though.
Nothing much else has been tampered with save for the terrain file, I'll be working on the other parts such as armour, mobs, and gui files along side fixing issues in the current version. Once the majority of the entire texturepack is ready to go, I'll have one more release for testing; Beta stage, before final upload.
Oh no! Another player trying their hand at a simple 16x16 texture pack! Woe to your sight, this is a first attempt. True I understand this being my first try at textures there is a major chance its complete rubbish, but any input on it would be greatly appreciated.
I'm not wanting to make crazy textures, maybe stick with a more smooth cartoonist style if I'm able to. 3-5 colours used per block or so, so the few blocks done are rather plain. If anyone has any comments for sup'in it up, please tear these screenshots apart

This isn't meant to be super serious, I'm doing this for fun after all. And before you get your jimmies in a rustle over a newbish texture pack, I've got red-green deficient colour-blindness, shading can be difficult.
It looks perfect so far :3 I love the simple texture packs, but most of the time, the blocks are too simple to make out! I can totally tell cobble and stone apart on this one though. Can't wait to download it
This pack is very good for a start, my first texturepack was an abomination, but you still need some practice. for tips, I would suggest looking at the terrain.png's of other texture packs and see the techniques they have used, and maybe look up some texturing tutorials from stuff like pixeljoint, or the many tutorials that are probably on here.
One thing that I have noticed is that some of the colors are kind of dull, but you are color blind so I think I can cut you some slack. If you look at some texture packs, Their stone is not completely gray and it has some saturation and a color. A perfect example is jolicraft, because its stone is slightly yellowish and because of that it kind of mades a large impact on how good the theme of the pack is.
Also, kudos to you for using a limited color pallete, that was a good step for making textures.
tthis was slightly awkward.

Also, new textures, huzzah.
New planks, torch, melon, obsidian, sticky and non-sticky pisons
Updated sand, smooth sandstone, decorative sandstone, circle stone brick, pumpkin, & jack-o'-lantern
That's right folks, an early stage of the texture pack Simply Put is up for download and ready for tweaking. Now as always I am very open to opinions on the pack of likes and dislikes, suggestions, and things of the sort. Yet, be mindful that in giving constructive criticism to give suggestions or tips in improvement. No one enjoys a person saying all the wrongs yet cannot come up with a single solution.

I absolutely love this texture pack, it's a perfect default pack! The shading is awesome in my opinion there isn't too much, and the texture pack isn't overly detailed. My only concern is the grass looks kinda funny (you said you were playing around with it) but other than that this texture pack is great!
I like using this texture pack. It has a good simple cartoonist feel to it and the blocks naturally flow with each other. There aren't any jarring or disruptive colors to it.
My favorite aspect is the water, it has a really nice color, it flows well, and I like how it changes color depending on whether it's sunny or dark.
One thing I noticed was that the lava block flow was really fast, so maybe the animation for the lava could be turned down just a tad bit.
Another I noticed is that glowstone looks like gold cobble stone. In the default texture pack, glowstone has a little bit of green and brown, so maybe a little variety could be added to the glowstone.
Also, the sand block looks really smooth and white, but maybe it could use just a little more texture or shading to help it stand out a bit more.

Glowstone is square overlapping tiles, and the colours used are straight from the original glowstone texture. Somewhat confused how it resembles cobble, if you can post a side by side screenshot comparison I might be able to better understand what you mean.
And I'll see about making the contrast on the sand stand out more, thanks for the input!

Whoops. I took a closer look at the glowstone and you are right, it doesn't resemble cobblestone at all. The glowstone has good detail and shading. I was looking at it from too far away. I don't think it needs changes.
I love how its a more cartoony, friendly, welcoming more joyful version of default, not some overly complicated thing smashed together over the course of months upon months of hard labour.
Glowstone looks amazing as squares, it fits in with the whole cube aspect of Minecraft, and looks more like something that the user would have had to rebuild/craft rather than just picked up with Silk Touch or what not.
If you need help with Shading Im willing to help, of course Im not a pro, and dont really know what Im doing, but meh willing to help however I can.
Hmmm... Interesting. I like your style and the shading seeing as though you have partial ( I think) colour blindness. One major gripe is that the cobble looks too jagged and unrealistic. The shapes look like they are some snake skin pattern. You could change them to be slightly more... round and piece like.

Alright this is where I do need help. If anyone is willing to point out what shading I'd appreciate it, as I am colour blind.
Imagine a rock. One side is dark. One is light.
This is a simple tutorial btw. Use a darker grey on the shadowed side and a lighter one on the lit side.
Easy as piecrust.
And possible wool texture, yes/no?
Bricks, cobble, and mossy cobble changed a bit.
The wool colours are in, please tell me if there is an issue with how they look if any!
And, a bed.
I already like you! Also, glowstone is amazing.

Top bits of the pistons.
