Well I've been working on my custom TP for about a month now and I decided to experiment with noise...without backing up my terrain.png first (DERP) for once. well it turns out that it will make my textures look like ****...I know you can do reduce noise but all that's doing for me is making my textures look brighter. HALP I WILL COMMIT SUICIDE IF I CANT REVERSE MY PACK BACK. I KNOW I WAS DUMB NOT TO BACK IT UP BUT I WAS TIRED. thank you
No, closed it a couple days ago. was so tired i thought it looked good at the moment. Note to self; never work on a TP late at night without energy drinks/2 and 1/2 gallons of coffee...
Unfortunately, if you didn't save a copy, there is probably nothing you can do to get the old copy back . I know this totally sucks (I've lost only hours of work at a time and that is still really hard) but maybe you can take this as an opportunity. Creating textures is the best way to improve our skills as artists. Go back and make new textures. I bet you'll surprise yourself with a fresh start. You will undoubtedly move a bit faster, and the textures will be better since you now have a month's worth of experience under your belt.
Two things for the future though. Try to work on a separate file for actually creating the textures. I move all good and finished copies of textures onto the terrain.png. I very rarely edit anything directly in the terrain.png file (only when i'm lazy). Also, editing every texture at once (either for color correction or texture manipulation) is in general, not the best idea. I don't know what res you're working in, but if you absolutely feel the need to use filters, at least do one texture at a time so you have more control over the effect.

You're right actually (about the fresh start) It's given me an opportunity to COMPLETELY overhaul my stone (which had horrible tiling issues.
Yeah, if you right click on an image, and most, if not all other files for that matter, there is an option saying "Restore previous versions."
There's yet more to come!
