Well, they said it couldn't be done, but I proved them wrong. X-Ray pack for 1.8+. You heard me, an X-Ray pack. But how? Well, the great boon that came with 1.8, was also its greatest weakness. Via the use of custom models and some other tweaks, it is possible to make an X-Ray pack, but also take it a step further and make it almost comparable to the X-Ray mod itself! Gone are the days of ores only being visible from exposed surfaces! With this pack, you can see ores no matter where they are!*
* Results may vary, exact effectiveness of the pack is not guaranteed.
- Through the use of custom models with literal holes cut out of them, it is possible to achieve the same effect as the previous types of X-Ray packs that used textures. This pack, in fact, uses no textures of its own. This means it is compatible with ANY texture pack. Just stack it first in the list.
- See through stone, dirt, sand, and netherrack. (Not grass. too lazy to make that work)
- All ores are visible from all sides, not just exposed surfaces. Downside, however is they are dark unless you use a custom lightmap. Again, laziness prevented me from doing this.
- Due to how the game renders chunks, you may have things pop in and out of view from specific angles. I have zero control over this, so meh. Take it how you will. Results on servers are also sketchy, but considering the alternative, this pack can really help you out.
Use the pack as you will. Distribute as you please. Do whatever with it.
For the record. I do not condone cheating on servers. Use at your own risk. I only made this from a technical challenge point of view I am also aware there are 1 or 2 other packs that do this. I do believe I was the first to actually make a 1.8 compatible XRay pack, but I've not uploaded it till now.
I am not supporting this pack beyond this release. If you wish for an addition, do it yourself.

Cast aside your festive doylaks: dragon stuff is about to happen.
Multiplayer is lonely once you understand how it actually works.
Alpha 1.0.4
Uh, cool! Though I'm not going to need it, congrats on figuring out how to make it.
