i just wanted to share another observation when playing my massive 1.7.10 modpack and use of multiple resource packs... i can see all the alternate textures for passive mobs and hostile mobs, except for vanilla villagers (smith, butcher, farmer, librarian, priest). i can see the textures used for villager occupations such as tinkerer, wizard, which are not vanilla villagers... however, when i created a nearly vanilla 1.7.10 instance (no mods except for Forge 1558, OptiFine, NEI, Journeymap), i spawned a bunch of villagers and now i can see all the possible villager textures. do you have any idea why i can't see them? the only difference between the instances is that one instance has all my mods and the other one just has Forge 1558, OptiFine 1.7.10_HD_U_D4, NEI, and Journeymap... and with both instances, i'm using the same resource pack (1.04 for 1.7x) and no other... it's so puzzling! thanks in advance!
p.s. i guess it's obvious that it's probably a mod that's preventing the alternate textures to not show up, but that doesn't make sense to me!
There are some mods that use it as a base for any other texture to be applied over it for whatever a mod wants to do with said texture.
And when that happens, the mod dev might have it set so that it uses the Minecraft DEFAULT Villager texture & not the Villager texture that is loaded into the texture sheet (or however they code the textures together now... I keep forgetting it with all of the changes). By default that shouldn't happen & it should load the Villager texture from whatever that it is being used from, but bad devs...
OR!!!! Really simply, one of the packs have the Vanilla Default Villager textures & they need to be removed from said pack.

Sooo...
i figured it out! i am using my own kitchen sink modpack and i did a search for the word "villager" in my instance... i noticed that there was a texture folder in one of the mods and it pointed me to the Extended Villages mod! i went to their site and it clearly states that there are some new models for their villagers and it overwrote the vanilla ones... and in the config file, i can turn that option off if i wanted to use a resource pack. and voila - it works! i updated the config file and now all the alternate villager textures are showing up! i feel so much better now! thanks!
This release is mostly about mod support, i've added several new mods, and transfered several old mods that were in previous versions of Lithos. I've also redone a ton of the commonly used mod textures (ingots, ores, storage blocks, etc) to help make each material more easily distinguishable.
This release is also part of a push to make the pack more friendly to the colorblind-- each vanilla ore now has a unique shape -- no recolors of the same old ore texture.
I honestly love this resource pack and I was wondering if I could use it in a resource pack for a map that I am making or just suggest it on the page that I will make. I will of course say that almost all the blocks in this resource pack are your creations and I will suggest the resource pack!!!

Lazydaysies: That's odd, I have no idea.

What modpack are you using?

Those butterflies are cool!
(so are the snails)
10 points if you know who ⬇️ is.
Butterflies are GREAT!!!! Made the wings look great & vibrant.
the butterflies are so pretty! i love them!!!
The short-term answer it to turn "Mipmap levels" Off, under Optifine's quality settings. That removes the glitchyness.
In the long-term, i'll try to phase that out. I can make smarter use of block-models to accomplish the desired effect.

Disregard this message; it seems to be an issue w/ something other than the texture pack.

Quark is a mod that i've noticed. My priority is for the snapshot over any mod stuff, but i've recorded your vote for Quark.

Oh wow, I did not know the Quark mod even existed. It is absolute genius! +1 for adding support for that one.
