Hi guys. Since it's going to get super easy to customize texture packs soon, I thought I'd drop off a few of my personal texture edits in the new format. Most are edits of the great work people here have already done, and a one or two are 100% custom. Not expecting everyone to jump on these, just putting them out there.
Also: has anyone noticed that the chiseled-in-stone triangle on the repeater shifts between the on and off states?
The vanilla E-chest has an eye of ender on the front, so I edited the JS e-chest a bit.

I really liked the bench in both John Smith and in Sphax, so I merged them together.

I know people like the glowstone to look like lamps, but that bugs me. Here it is as a crystal.

Blue version of the amazing beacon block someone made here.
This isn't perfect, but I love the effect it has when it comes creeping over the horizon.

Creeper pumpkins. I don't know if the animation file for the Jack is broken, I guess it'll need a text file.

And I gotta say: the newest versions of the quartz blocks are gorgeous. Great work. Though, I might tweak the chiselled lines a bit lighter for my pack, but I love them. You bunch have been busy!
@Glowstrontium Are you guys using illustrator (or some other vector graphic app) to develop your textures or just raw pixel art in photoshop or similar?
While I've been working on my little compatibility packs I've been noticing more and more that basic photoshop tricks aren't cutting it. You can only recolor things so much.
Alot of the original JS pack has a very detailed dithering look that doesn't appear to be pixel art, but more vector art with graining/texturizing effects added in and scaled down. Perhaps some pixel art done after rasterizing... I'm only an amateur graphic artist (web developer by trade) so I'm always interested in other's techniques.
I can't speak for Johnsmith, but both glow and I use photoshop to create the textures. I've been curious as to how illustrator, and maybe even fireworks would work for creating textures.
I don't use a particular method when creating textures, i just keep experimenting with that I have until something looks nice. Some tools that I like to use are burn and sponge, sometimes i like using a dirt brush to put on some detail then turn down the opacity of it by a lot, and other times I just like to do everything by hand.
the textures for Gravi Suit were bugging me so i made these until someone makes better

Just a heads up guys: PowerCrystals changed his texture image for all the MineFactory Reloaded stuff about two versions ago. The one in the JS pack you have is way out of date. A good example is his rubber trees are made up of actual machine parts for the leaves and wood if you use your most recent download. I don't think you've actually skinned his mod anyhow, but you might want to replace the existing "PowerCrystals" folder with an updated one from his mod. I think Netherores is still ok.
Anywho.....keep up the fantastic work guys. This pack is awesome and I love the quick updates!!!!
May I be allowed to modify this texture pack for one of my maps? It seems like this is a perfect texture pack for it, and that I could use it. Please respond.

Latest update added support for the missing Gregtech machines but they where only place holder and did not fit with the theme so here is the ones I made:
I also added the arrows on some machines as they seemed important and where in every other pack so... ENJOY!!!
Yep, are you referring tot he fact that the back sides of the glass aren't showing? That's a problem with minecraft itself. It's been like that ever since, well, Minecraft came out.

Oh no, I know that. I was referring to the clear glass texture. I was sure that there was a different texture for the glass.
I updated the clear glass texture file that works with optifine. I found that there were some missing parts to it in some sections when the glass arranged a certain way. I thickened the lines on the edges and added a few surface streaks so you can see when its in place.
Here is the texture file with the streaks in the glass.
About JohnSmith: Old Legacy
I have created an "Old Edition." I managed to find a 7.4 version from this website and put together the terrain and item textures with the new, community updated version. Here is my JohnSmith: Old Legacy.
My Modifications
I have made a few modifications to the ores, to make them look better with the blue-ish stone (and put Nether Quartz on the old, darker Netherrack). I also modified some of the Legacy tools to give them an older but cleaner look (ex. I added the old strings back to the stone pick). I also added the language buttons in the old GUI. I have retextured the new GUI so it looks like the old. There are a few other slight modifications. Please note I have not fully replaced the items files yet. If you find any errors, tell me. I used the MCPatcher converter to move the terrain.png and items.png into separate files so there may be some issues with missing textures.
A Note From The Author (Geotan)
Disclaimer: I do not officially own any of the textures used. Although I have modified some slightly they are the work of JohnSmith and anyone involved in updating the pack (JohnSmith: Legacy).
Errors Found
Fixed Not Fixed Told Of/Working On
- Made an accident while attempting to make the string on the stone pick, accidentally pasted it between the diamond and iron swords.
- Pack.png has a weird colored diamond ore compared to stone
- Mycelium and Nether Quartz do not match their partners (Grass and Netherrack)
- Font is spaced weird in snapshot (waiting for a Legacy pack update to fix)
If someone wants to add this to the original post, go ahead and do so. It would be very much appreciated.
Please +1 if you enjoy the JohnSmith: Old Legacy. I worked hard to make this.

Do whatever you want with it.
Definitely my top used one!
i will declare clearly that all credit goes to you.

With quartz that glows (it's subtle)
With quartz that does not glow
Unpowered with quartz
edit:
Fixed the "repeater wiggle": the powered and unpowered repeaters now have aligned triangles

I finally got it working. Not sure how though. I just had another question. Is the glass supposed to look like this? I am using optifine.

Disable connected textures in video setting/quality this should fix it.
