Hmm, the badger sounds tempting. I've closed up my files for the night though, so I'll have to think on it tomorrow. I did get some framed paintings up on the customizer though, been meaning to add frames for a while and finally got around to doing it real quick.
Okay, I've uploaded the snapshot textures. There's a bit of a problem though in that the new creative inventory gui overlaps with the current one. I can't update it fully because it'll not look right for the current Minecraft, so if you're using the snapshot... you'll just have to deal. My apologies - just delete the allitems.png out of the GUI folder if it bugs you.
Also, I could use suggestions on the ore blocks right now, because I'm not hot on ideas for the flavors. I've got the iron for Dungeon, but that's it so far.
Nice new textures. I like the shackles for the dungeon iron. So I've got a silly idea, but since you've got the tear in reality thing going on for the diamonds. Maybe you could do a tardis like diamond block =P
I just had a couple ideas for fairy ore, though I'm not sure if they have any merit. Each ore could have some forest theme, such as leaves for iron, seeds for coal, flowers for gold, vines for redstone... and I ran out of ideas at diamond.

Hmmm, I like the idea of the TARDIS, but maybe not for a diamond block. How about a door instead?
Yeah... those are all customizer issues. Sorry. Once I get the flavor packs to a finished state where I'm not uploading new textures every other day I'll make an official download so you can get around the customizer problems, but hopefully they'll get them straightened out. I do love the customizer and got mad respect for the guys that made it.
I've tried fiddling around with CTM bookcases but honestly, I'm not terribly happy with the results. Maybe I'll give it another try sometime, but it's pretty low on my priorities.
I love this pack, it was the inspiration that got me to work seriously on my own!
I've been continuously frustrated with my torches and thought I might play on your candle idea: putting the big details on the bottom instead of the top.

That's great to hear! I'll have to take a look at your pack.
Try downloading the from the not-the-customizer links. Make a new folder [FOLDER X] somewhere on your computer. Unzip both packs into their own folders within FOLDER X. I'd recommend re-naming them so that you can tell which is which. Now, copy the files from the CUSTOMIZER folder into FOLDER X.
Ore texture problems:
Open up Photoshop/GIMP, whatever image editing program you like so long as it has LAYERS and saves TRANSPARENCY. Open up the terrain.png in FOLDER X in said program.
Grab your stone texture from the png and make a new layer, UNDER the base layer. If it's not under, you won't be able to see your ores! Paste the texture to this under-layer, and position it behind each of the ores so that you don't screw up your tiling. Bam!
Melon texture problem:
Remember that NON-CUSTOMIZER folder? Go open it up outside your image editor. Dig around for the alternates folder [it's easy to find], and go through them until you find the texture you're looking for. THEY ARE NOT LABELED, BUT NUMBERED. So remember this number.
Back to your image editing software, you're going to open up that file you found before. Now just copy and paste it into the correct position. Save your terrain.png!
Randomobs and such:
This is the other reason to download the non-customizer version! Open up your mobs folder in FOLDER X and the NON-CUSTOMIZER folder. Copy the mobs from the NON-CUSTOMIZER over to FOLDER X. I'd also recommend doing this with the GUI since certain textures aren't available from the customizer yet! There may be other areas where this is relevant but I can't remember off the top of my head.
Once you're satisfied, zip everything except the ZIP files and the CUSTOMIZER and NON-CUSTOMIZER folders together. Copy your new zip over to your texture pack folder, and ta-da!
I realize this looks like a lot of work and very complicated, but it's actually pretty easy. It's made my life a lot easier since both of the texture packs I use and love have a lot of options that I like to take advantage of, and having this already in place has saved me a huge lot of hassle - and now that Thistle has the options in the direct download, I don't have to worry about the customizer going down.
Anyways, hope that helped. 8)
Speaking of customizer issues, Thistle: The purple fairy and default wools are mixed up in the customizer - it insists the default purple wool is the purple fairy wool and vice versa. You may want to correct this.
I'm thinking something reptilian.
But since dragons are already taken, I recommend snakes.
A basilisk would be interesting, though that's filed under snake.
We have a winner. It's gonna be a basilisk.
Sweeeeet
(you should totally add some norse/dwarven-ish type textures *wink wink nudge nudge*)
It is such a short time to make all of those textures and to make the look good it takes even more time.

0.0 yes... Yes... YES! sorry... I'm a bit of a who-vian.
