The release is planned for when the Redstone Update comes out. I expect this will be very soon, since the last few snapshots were mainly bug fixes.
Also, I have in fact finished all overworld mobs now. I managed to finish the snowman too, but I still need to make picture of it. So, I will be moving on to the Nether mobs now!

Awesome stuff!
I really like the ocelots... not just spotted like vanilla.
It's a lowpoly 3D character that I modeled and textured.
It was done for a contest at another forum, where you had to build a character from an action movie using only 700 triangles and a 256x256 texture sheet.

I'm not sure if I'm more excited for the next release of Wayukian, or Minecraft itself...
It must be a good feeling to know that your texture pack is nearing one-hundred-percent completion. By completion I mean completion in customization, not simply a fully functional pack. Aside from Nether mobs, I'm not sure what's left for Wayukian... maybe a few custom colours for particles here and there, as well as portals and fire as per the OP. I'm not sure if I would consider custom paintings a part of the criteria in the general case, but they definitely wouldn't hurt!
I have a question for you Wayuki. Do you plan on taking advantage of the upcoming texture animation capabilities, in any form? Personally I have absolutely no preference; I'm wondering only out of mere curiosity. =]

I love the cats! Yay no more default overworld stuff, hehe. I'm actually more excited for 1.5 to come out just to get ahold of the new release of this pack! All the new textures you've done for 1.5 look incredible.
-CTM (Windows are done but it'd be great to see more)
-Random CTM (Ores would be fun with this. Flowers and mushrooms too)
-Unique textures (fences done. How about log tops? Buttons and pressure plates?)
-Better skies.
-Paintings.
-Cloud layer. Flat images like you see in Glimmar's and Misa's packs. These types tend to look nicer and can handle more detail.
-Animated. Seriously, if she can do the water and the lava. I'd say nether portal next, and torches (animate the flame particle, not the torch itself) as well as the furnace and maybe the shinier ores (gold, diamond and emerald)
I think the rain could do with some tweaking colour-wise too.
It's a bit too blue.
Lots of stuff she could do once the mobs are complete but that's entirely up to her.
Oh, I never said there wasn't plenty Wayuki could do. =] It just seems like it would be nice to know your texture pack is nearly complete in terms of vanilla content. A lot of the things you listed are technically mods (MCPatcher), so in my own personal opinion I wouldn't count them as contributing factors towards actual "completion".
I haven't been using MCPatcher lately with the snapshots, but custom animations for water, lava, and portals all sound promising. Speaking of portals, I'm looking forward to what sort of portal texture Wayuki comes up with.
As for buttons and pressure plates... haven't their textures always been remapped from pre-existing textures? Come to think of it, I've never even investigated the possibility of overriding this behaviour. I'm sure it's possible with mods, but is it without them? I haven't heard anything about this in 1.5, but I'd love to see it become a possibility in vanilla.
As someone who has never completely finished all vanilla textures... I wonder if it actually would be that satisfying. I think everyone texture pack makers goal is to replace every texture and then toss their keyboard aside, kick their feet up on the desk and lay back and say "god damn, I'm finally done!" Problem is with Minecraft you're never truly done Finish all the textures one week, then a week later Dinnerbone tweets 10 new blocks.
Buttons and pressure plates already have CTM added. However, since the texture format change, MCPatcher hasn't been working for me. It crashes my game on start-up. So, any MCPatcher additions are on hold until this is fixed.
Fire and portal animations are planned eventually, but it's pretty low priority for me now. I will probably do the paintings first.
Once all the vanilla content is done, I'm looking forward to spend a bit more time making non-Minecraft art. Though I will also keep maintaining the pack for any new updates, ofcourse.
@zijtsam: The square thingie in the bottom left corner is the texture, or "skin" if you will. Not quite unlike Minecraft skins, but a bit more complex.
Other than the grass standing out from the grass blocks a bit too much in the plains (easy change playerside), I love this pack. You've really pixel painted a lot of personality into it, right down to the square moon having a unique color and shape. The mobs are especially unique (the pigs are so cute and bright) , and the water works beautifully! Very artistic and unique. Loaded and enjoying!
My first reaction upon perusing the pack was "Wow, this is 16x?!" You've managed to pack so much detail into your textures. As someone who aspires to finish a texture pack myself, it's really inspiring to see your work. I've downloaded the pack and am very happy with it so far.
Uhhhh, of course you are allowed to post here, lol.
Personally looking forward to seeing how the nether dwellers will look....
So here's some cats instead.
Almost...
FHAST FHOD FOHR DEH EMPRAH!
OH MAH GOD KITTIES!!!!!! SO ADORABLE!!!!!! UPDATE THE TEXTURE PACK TO PUT THE DOGGIES AND KITTIES IN!!!
cuteness is the opposite of scariness, so the creepers are worried they'll lose their scariness
Great work!

Also, what exactly is your avatar?

Holy hell that's so badass.
Awesome job!

I want me one o' those.

It's actually the main character from the movie Planet Terror.
