A moment ago Simon Belmont had been in Dracula's tower, kicking his butt for what must have been the hundredth time. Now he has no idea where he is. The terrain is familiar, but nothing else. Also, all the wonderful items he had acquired during his journey are gone. With grim resolve, Simon heads toward the nearest tree to pulverize it with fists of anger. With surprise Simon finds that a few hard thuds practically demolish it. Holding the raw wood in his hands he looks to the sky. The sun will be setting soon, and if the Belmonts know anything its this:
Sorry, I had to do that. This is my 8-Bit Castlevania Texture Pack called Craftslevania. I started it as a fun little project for my own amusement. But, looking at the boards, I decided it might be fun to post it up and see what everyone has to say. I'd love some feedback and maybe even some help on the final product.
The world in which Simon finds himself. Familiar, and yet somehow not as...linear.
I have a bad feeling mummies are in there...
A desecrated chapel...show me something I haven't seen!
I think I want to dye some wool...Ah yes! That hand will do!
A cavern >_>!....
.....I see this cavern has been used for foul purposes.....
....The tools of building, storage, and...furnacing.
Also, after preliminary research, I have found that candles no longer yield hearts upon their destruction. Instead, they actually give off light. Odd.
This is still a WIP as I plan on retexturing the items.png, armors, and of course the mobs. It might take awhile though! I tried to use only colors taken from Castelvania 1, 2, and 3 for NES. Also, if you'll notice, in many cases I didn't just pluck the textures straight from Castlevania. There was quite a bit of pixel manipulation, especially with the kz.png.
Here is the terrain.png for your gandering pleasure:
OMFG! So...Nice *-*
You really did a good job here. But would be nice if you make some textures for the monsters. The crepper would be an blue explosive skelleton, for example! xD
BTW, Loved this! *-*
Well, zombies are in Castlevania already, but if you want to mix it up a bit, fishmen might work...Chickens could be reskinned into adorable crows...Zombie pigmen...might be a candidate for walking armours...
I hadn't thought of the crows! But then I haven't started on the mobs yet. But now I will definitely use that idea. I was thinking of turning the squid into fishmen, even though they're rather amorphous. But it might not be a bad idea to switch them with zombies instead. Once again, hadn't thought of Axe Armors for pigmen - I'll have to make sure I change wooden swords to axes to it makes sense.

~What a Horrible Night to have a Custom Texture Pack
Good to see one of the greatest video game franchises getting some love. I would use this.
Thanks so much for this and other comments of support! Castlevania is possibly my favorite game franchise. It was only a matter of time before I made this pack haha.
Speaking of this pack, in addition to working on the items and the new mob skins, I have also been looking at changing some of the textures I originally put in the mod. Here is the new terrain.png:
I've changed the basic stone, cobblestone, and sandstone textures. I actually think I like the new ones but I'm not going to do an official 2.0 release until I hear some feedback. Here are some shots of the new textures in-game:
Sandstone:
Cobblestone:
Stone:
Tell me what you think! New items are coming soon!

I love the sandstone!, and I think the cleanstone is much better, I like the cobble as well (but I'm having a hard time figuring out what the cobble for the last version was (sorry havent downloaded the pack to check it out yet))
...I'm having a hard time figuring out what the cobble for the last version was...
Thats exactly why I changed it!
There wasn't enough of a difference between the cobblestone and the regular stone. Also, the old stone was very dark. When I think Castlevania I think dark, but not so dark I can't see to mine!

I copied over my own compilation pack, and part of that pack was the old Doku 16p. For some reason that pack has grey wheat...Not sure why. I'm going to convert my pack over to the standard terrain.png and post the results.

Again, feedback is very much appreciated!
Craftslevania v 2.5: http://www.mediafire.com/file/5f1x5j3ek ... nia2.5.zip
2.5 - Added Beds and fiddled with some textures
2.0 - Changed some of the base textures, fixed the title splash
1.0 - Initial Release
All new textures were pulled and edited by me. The only exception is the Simon Belmont skin which I found on the skindex - xenocidal made it.

He's looking for you....
Hahaha! The Highest praise, thanks.
It really does! Especially if you're into the 8-bit look like I am. Makes them look a lot darker and imposing.
Man, if I could make a mod that would cause a text box to pop up and say that I would.
Thanks! I wasn't sure if it would work till I got in game. When I look out over a field of reaching hands I have to smile XD
Oddly enough, that is exactly what I was going to do!
Speaking of which, anyone have any requests or ideas on which Castlevania creature should replace the Minecraft Mobs? I'm open to suggestions!
