I'm not dead, guys! I've just been too busy with life to work on SineCraft. However, today I decided that I may as well finally start work on a proper update, so I've spent the last few hours building a brand new resource pack with the old assets from the last SineCraft release. There are a ton of missing textures and items/GUI haven't been ported yet, but I did get the majority of the existing terrain textures ported over. I'll have a release up as soon as I get the GUI and items ported. Not every new block/item will be included at first, but I am planning to add all of the missing assets.
Prepare yourselves; it's finally coming (I promise this time!)
Okay, so v2.0 Pre-Release 1 is up for download now. Please keep in mind that the pack is not 1.8.x complete just yet, but I have the vast majority of the existing stuff ported over to the new resource pack format. As the next few weeks pass I'll get things more fleshed out and complete.
Enjoy!
v2.0 Pre-Release 1 - 7.6.2015
So, it's been a few years! I've finally began the long process of updating the entire pack for 1.8.x!
At this stage, I've mostly just ported over what was already present in the last SineCraft release. I have added a few of the new blocks/items, but the vast majority are still stock or unfinished (thus, this is a Pre-Release.) I will keep working on the pack over the next few weeks releasing small updates as I go along. If anyone finds any bugs or misaligned blocks, please let me know!
Thanks for your patience, everyone. I know this took a lot longer than it should have; I just haven't had the time :/
No freaking way... the first time I randomly check after MONTHS and you just posted on the same day. I have no words...
Edit: I want to point out that the grass is very bright compared to the grass block. I did some messing around while you were gone and found that lowering the contrast between the grass and grass block look much better.

Hey man! I'm really glad to see you're still around, thanks for checking in.
When you say the grass is very bright compared to the grass block, I am guessing you mean the regular gradient grass vs. the creative grass block?
I mean the tall grass that you get seeds from and are grown when you use bonemeal on grass blocks. It contrasts too much from the gradient grass blocks. The distinction between tall grass and grass blocks should be subtle and even more-so at greater distances. I can't remember, but I think I messed with a gradient or two when I changed it myself. Though, I'd have to wait until I got home to check.
With this release I have taken SineCraft back to the old mosaic style from way back before v1.0! Back in the pre-1.0 days I had changed the original mosaic pattern to one that tiled better, but in reality I've never been happy with this change. I've always felt that the clean lines of the original SineCraft mosaic style and the blocky nature of Minecraft went really well together.
Now, let's talk content - in this update I have added a ton of assets that were missing from the last pre-release! At this stage, there are only a few block/terrain textures left that haven't been done yet! All of the crops are done, most of the foliage is done, and pretty much all terrain blocks are done (water temple blocks aren't done.) Items and GUI are still not complete either, but I'm working on them so please be patient!
I've ported the textures for boats, minecarts, etc. Additionally, I've created brand-new textures for the hopper, the control block, and most of the Redstone circuitry blocks that were missing them before (I think the detector is the only one I haven't done yet.)
Ahh, I see what you mean now. I'll see if I can get the tall grass and the gradient grass contrast to match a bit better in the next release. Thanks for pointing that out.
I had not heard of Truecraft, but honestly I only play FTB Infinity these days. I'm not really interested in any flavor of vanilla Minecraft anymore, there's just not enough progression to keep me satisfied for more than a couple hours.
Aww, but I liked the better tiling one. Though, I didn't have many complaints about it before, so I'm sure I could get used to it again. If not, I can just replace the textures myself.
The hits just keep on coming. This is mainly a UI update - most of the UIs are now complete, including the creative UIs, with notable exceptions being the achievement and beacon UIs. I have also fixed a lot of minor issues, i.e. incorrect side/top textures on the jukebox, an alignment oversight with the compass, and tall grass contrast (it should now blend in much better with grass blocks.) I have only slightly modified the detector texture but I consider that one finished for now, it actually matches the SineCraft style pretty well by default. Additionally, I have added/tweaked a few more items, but there are still a ton of them that haven't been redrawn.
More to come soon, stay tuned for the next release!
I really like the older terrain textures with the alternate textures setting. Looks great. Thanks for your hard work, man. I really appreciate this pack.
Edit: I meant the random texture rotation and flip setting. It might only be in OptiFine.
Though, have you put any thought into making alternate textures with slight variations? Going back to the old version opens up a lot of room for creativity in texture variation since it tiles no matter what. Visually, I think the mosaic pattern is fantastic, but realistically you could get so much more out of a bit of variance.

No problem, thanks! I hope you can get used to the new (old) terrain textures because I think they're here to stay
I use OptiFine and I do think the Alternate Blocks option is an OptiFine option, but I'd never used it until you mentioned it. I see what it does; it sometimes rotates and sometimes mirrors the texture, which is a neat way to do it.
I haven't really put any thought into doing connected textures or scripting custom alternates with weights, and all of that. If someone else wanted to do it they'd have my full support; it's all I can do right now to get the pack up to date. I still haven't even touched armor, mobs, or a lot of the newer items, so there is still a lot left to get done. And then I have to consider whether or not I want to go full-throttle and also support FTB and Tekkit, because it seems like nobody plays vanilla anymore.
If you wanted to make a couple variants each of the mass tiled block, like grass, dirt, stone, and even cobblestone (just the lightest brick). I don't mean to sound helpless and needy. I just can't do what you do with this texture pack.
Edit: http://puu.sh/iR9xn/352c2aeed8.png
This is a screenshot from the texture pack that I edited awhile back. I know it's a tad too close to the grass texture, but I feel it's in the right direction. The tall grass just seems too bright still. Also, I'm sure you're aware that the double tall grass is still default. I had added it into the pack in the picture. I could upload both of them if you want.

If you wouldn't mind, that would be amazing! I have been dreading doing all the double-tall-grass and double-tall-flower textures because I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do for them yet. The grass is easy, but the flowers not so much I can make tall grass even darker but I actually kinda like the small amount of contrast, it makes the landscape pop and it's less bland in my opinion.
I will also look into getting some alternates done so we can have some variety in the SineCraft landscape, but I'd like to focus on getting the pack feature-complete first. I'll see what I can do in the meantime, it may not take that long.
I'll try to remember and list all the blocks I updated myself that are in this pack... Although some of them are using the previous seamless texture. I'll probably list some that I didn't make myself, so sorry in advance.
double plant grass
dragon egg
dropper
emerald block
emerald ore
hay block
hopper
ice (I think I redid this one)
iron bars (pretty sure I redid this one too)
itemframe background
ladder (redid)
log acacia (my version)
log big oak (my version)
rails (I probably changed a few of them)
redstone block
redstone lamp
saplings (redid some)
snow (probably redid)
stonebrick cracked/mossy
tallgrass (my version)
Feel free to take and edit those or use as-is.
Edit: I was thinking, you could probably just make the bottom half of the grass as dark as mine and then gradually make the tops of the grass as light as yours.
In this update I've again tweaked the tall grass to better match the biome gradients (Thanks to xiondisc for helping with that!) I've also added all the double-tall plants.

All I've used from your version were the 'stems' for the tall grass to make the contrast match. Thanks for uploading that!
With this update I have created a new panoramic for the title screen. I have also animated flowing water and lava (what a pain in the ass that was!) Additionally, I've never been happy with the way the old mosaic pattern lava looked, so I've created a new lava texture that resembles the water texture.
I was curious, so I changed the grass block a bit. By that I mean I made it into a 32x32 texture and cut the seam width in half. You'll see what I mean...
