I'm one of Misa's IRL friends and we've been in contact intermittently throughout her move. She's still not able to get online, but she wanted me to tell you all that she's not dead. That's all I've got for now; she just wanted you all to know she's okay.
Oh, and also, she wanted me to thank you all for your continued support during her absence.

Wow. I'm impressed that someone whose product was a fixture of a connected community could go so cold-turkey-completely-off-line for nigh-on seven months. I can't go a half hour without checking in somewhere.
Anyway, I hope you're legit and not trolling. You don't have much history to verify. Did Misa give you a notion as to when she hopes to emerge from the void?
I'd like to port Misa's TP to pocket edition 0.8.1, but she's not here to give permissions, do you think that there will be any problem if I just do it? after all she said that it's possible to use her work...
"You are only allowed to use work from this pack for remixes and compilations... if I am given credit for my work on your release."
Unless you are in the rugged Alaskan wilderness somewhere, in a third-world country, or in prison, you almost can't avoid getting online. These days, the ubiquity of smartphones, 4G wireless, free WiFi at cafes, free internet terminals at Public Libraries, and many other free or cheap access points makes it seem like a conscious decision to avoid the many ways one can go online cheaply, easily or even for free.
Not saying that it couldn't happen at all, but that it seems, well, curious.

I think we all know Misa from her posts well enough to know that if she had something she wanted us to know about her health or whereabouts, she wouldn't send in some anonymous person claiming to be her RL friend whose profile doesn't even give their age, gender, or location to deliver the first information we've heard about her for 6 months.
I've reported your post and hope others will do the same.

I think you are assuming too much here. For all we know, saotomato could actually be one of Misa's IRL friends. If saotomato isn't shame on him/her but, lets be glad we have anything at all that could potentially point us to Misa's current whereabouts. I really do think we will hear from Misa soon but, patience is key in the current situation. I have always found Misa's work to be amazing and I would love to design an adventure map using her epic resource pack in a completed state.
That is really good news. But i am a little surprised that Misa did not even wrote a single post in months. (even when she is moving) If she just posted: "i am really busy but alive. Expect new update in about five months" ... than i would be happy. But as she is not answering at all, i'm still worried
maybe because she's been moving and hasn't had internet (or if she has, hasn't had time) and unless you've moved before, you don't know how much of a pain moving can be. It saps your free time. (more with next quote)

or if you're struggling financially (where you can't afford something for internet access) or moving cross country (where you don't know the area well enough) you can't get online. I don't know what the whole situation is, but from what I've read in her previous posts on this thread, a long absence with little to no communication was to be expected.

or maybe what I said in reply to the last quote... YOUR REASONS FOR REPORTING ARE INVALID and I hope no one else does the same!

All I have to say here is: totally agree, and good that some people have a good head on their shoulders.
IN SUMMARY: We only know the basics. Speculation and assumptions are pointless. At least we heard something from herhopefully legitIRL friend. All we can do is be patient.
PS: I can't believe so many of my posts are going to saying the same things over and over.

Reported for what exactly? Are the minecraftforum admins gonna track this person down and verify that what they're saying is true?

Heh, being reported wasn't exactly the response I was expecting. I am legit who I say I am, but come to think of it I guess me just saying that in a post isn't that convincing. Look, I don't have many posts on here because I just don't post here often. Misa and I did not meet on this forum so I don't know why I should be expected to have a million posts on here or something. I know everyone has a lot of questions for Misa, but it's not my place to speak for her, so I won't. We simply spoke on the phone (and NO, she does NOT have a smart phone-- people who live below the poverty line do not spend money on a data plan), I mentioned that people on here were worried about her, and she asked me to let you all know she's still alive. That is all.

Well. That escalated quickly.
I, for one, am glad to hear from someone that she's not dead. Thanks for the update Saotomato.
And a reminder for Misa's fans,
I've been maintaining a non-profit patch for 1.7 on another thread in this forum. It fills in the blanks missing from Misa's current version.
Thank you saotomato for the update. Let Misa know shes an absolutely talented artist whom we all love and miss dearly. Best wishes to her throughout whatever situation shes in!
I wish there was a way we could help her with her financial problems, and I'm sure a lot of people who are waiting for her return to update her great resource pack are willing to contribute.

There is a donate button on the first page. I just put in $10, wish I could do more, but as a group we may be able to help Misa out. Even if she's unable to continue the pack its been more then worth the $10 for the enjoyment the pack has added to my Minecraft experience.

I'm guessing you haven't experienced moving yet. Even though we had more than enough to pay for a connection at where we were moving to, it took us more than a week to finally get one. Yeah, to be honest, it was hell for me. Like VashTS240 said, moving saps a lot of your free time.
Also, even before saotomato commented that she is below the "poverty line", Misa's old comment saying she may end up homeless should've given you guys a clue that she can't afford things like a smartphone.
Not all areas have free Internet terminals, either. In fact, I almost forgot there is such a thing. I live in a city, and I'm not aware of any free Internet terminal here nor in the neighboring cities. There are free WiFi hotspots, but only people with mobile devices can enjoy them.

More like the Neverland pirates have been up to their nasty tricks again and Misa is held a prisoner of RL circumstances.
