As far as I know there isn't one. All I can suggest is you post a request comment on the creator's Youtube video page. I think it's still being worked on, hence perhaps the reason there isn't a map download.
Hi Glimmar!
LOVE the update (and the texture pack in case you were wondering). I've got a little task for you. Now, you know how in the future there might be model packs? If you don't, that's alright, cos' even though I've heard they will, I got no proof. But what if, you try and model your blocks. Just so that everybody can see what they look like. Wouldn't that be amazing? Come on, take the challenge ...
Glad you like the current pack, Zorkalorp...thank you.
'model packs', "model your blocks"? I haven't a clue what this is, but if it involves me dressing up in one of my blocks and doing the catwalk shuffle...it ain't going to happen. Seriously though, I'm none the wiser as to what you're referring to...sorry.
So, I recently discovered the shaders mod. Here are a few pics of my castle ruins.
I keep having a look at the shader mod, with the intention of trying it out, but as soon as it talks about needing Forge installing, etc., I usually give up trying.
Oh, P.S. , other idea. More manageable. I'm thinking Bioshock version. Have maybe a pack version for California, and one for Rapture. That would be great AND doable.
Lol! I think you're trying to give me a heart attack!
What is next of your things to update Glim? I assume the grass and stone. Loving the pack as usual as usual. The packed ice is useful for my new ice fortress.
What is next of your things to update Glim? I assume the grass and stone. Loving the pack as usual as usual. The packed ice is useful for my new ice fortress.
I'm looking at them both now. As regards the stone it would be fairly easy to make an 8x8 ctm 'repeat' texture, but I'm not overly happy about trying to fit new random ore textures to a repeat pattern, from the samples I've seen in other packs there's usually something that gives it away as being shoe-horned in. The alternative is to make the stone ctm 'random', but this means that every random bit of stone has to mesh with every other bit of stone on all four sides...a tall order, but it means from a distance it won't show up as a larger pattern and I can use any of the random stone tiles as the basis for random ore tiles. Well that's the theory and the reason why it's been put off for so long.
The new 1.8 stone types should be fine as 'repeat' ctm textures as there isn't the added complication of ores to fit in, but watch Mojang make it difficult by putting new ores in 'em!
They may be upgraded to a higher resolution but they simply don't match the same graphical style as the rest of the pack. The shading and colours for example.
Especially considering the improvement Glimmar has made with making textures over the years.
I'm glad he's made the armours unique, now it's time for the tools.
Maybe the pickaxe heads could be a bit thinner.
Maybe the tools could be a bit more gritty to fit the industrial theme (especially for the shovels)
The tools really should be changed soon, I quite agree, but the nature of the 1.8 update means I'm kind of having to focus on stone somewhat. I keep frowning at all the sub-par item textures there are, so when I huff and puff myself into starting I'll try and force myself in the direction of the tools and weapons (all dependent on very limited time for the foreseeable future).
Also, by way of warning, I don't intend making them overly complicated items. I'm of the school of thinking that if anyone is using the texture pack for survival play, having pixels flying all over the place with an animation and in yer face as they would be 'in hand' would quickly give me a headache. Any animation therefore would be subtle and hopefully somewhat believable.
Did it work? Cool! Kidding, but the idea, as big and ugly as it sounds, consists of calmly creating, well not another pack, just while using the base of the original one, modifying certain blocks so that (for example California) they are lets say, brighter, more white and golden, more happy! For Rapture, it would be maybe more copperish, rusty, and underwater worn. Do you see what I mean? And don't worry, these are only concept ideas ...Nothing like, obligatory ...
I'd love to make all sorts of variations of the pack for all the sub genres of Steampunk, but being realistic with my limited time I'm struggling to just maintain the one generalized Steampunk pack. So I try to make the textures as widely usable for anything from medieval, renaissance, steampunk, dieselpunk, to alternate future fantasy/sci-fi themes. So the onus is on the user to use his/her imagination to fit the building project.
For personal use I can't think of any sandbox game in the world that isn't as well catered for as Minecraft when it comes to textures to fit every theme under the sun.
You know I've got all the 'Bio' games, but apart from completing about a quarter of the first game, I haven't been able to play any of them since...and why? One word...Minecraft! Actually to be more acurate - two words...Glimmar's Steampunk.
Sorry, Mr Reaper, it was never an 'installable' pack, rather more a support pack of textures gathered together into mod specific folders with the onus on the user to replace vanilla mod textures with textures made by fans using my textures. Some mods are better supported by individual users than others and all of these textures were kindly compiled together by ksheep who knows more about all the mods out there than I do.
Unfortunately ksheep doesn't have the time to compile and update anymore, so it's waiting on someone else to take over the reigns, or for me to sort it out myself as best I can.
So, the textures are there for you to use, but it's a case of looking into the mods and replacing things yourself with the fan-made GS textures.
Wish I could be more helpful, but the basic resource pack textures are enough of a headache at the moment.
GS Update v15 was primarily going to be a simple fix for some missing textures (only apparent if you don't use MC Patcher). In the end I thought I'd sweeten the hassle of having to download the pack again with a few little treats.
I've been wanting to update the Spawn Eggs for a long time, not just to 64x, but something a little more imaginative and something that would also serve as a suitable prop in a picture frame. So I made a few varieties (the alternatives will be available for use) and chose one to be the standard, which is a kind of vacuum flask with an intense electrical spark animation as the heart of it. Made in such a way as to appear to glow, so that when placed in picture frames it can be used as a colorful choice of decoration or glowing light on various builds (especially if you have a light source nearby).
Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you play Minecraft the new spawn eggs look nice and bright in the 'fast' setting in the MC graphics options and rather dull in the 'fancy' graphics setting. I have no explanation for why Mojang would make one brighter than the other. This means I've had to make a duplicate set of textures for 'fancy' use and users will have to physically switch textures to the 'fast' variety as 'fancy' textures will be the standard. Also any users who choose not to patch their Minecraft with 'MCPatcher' will notice that three of the spawn eggs have no illuminated interior. This is because Mojang chose to make the 'spotty' overlay on those eggs almost completely black, so only by my adjusting the colors of the overlay for MCPatcher use will they show up ingame as seen in the above video.
I've also included a full set of stained glass wool portholes for anyone wishing to substitute the netherack stained glass porthole with a particular riveted wool block variety. Oh and I upgraded the reed item texture to 64x, but forgot to show it in the vid.
To all those who are still interested in my work...thanks for looking in and for any comments, they are much appreciated.
Thanks for watching.

Actually, looking back over the vid at the different spawn egg varieties, I'm not absolutely certain which of the two vacuum styles would be best as the standard pack version. Let me know if you prefer the 'spark' or 'plasma' lamp. I'd rather keep the fetus version as an alt, as I see either of the two vacuum lamps as being of more practical use for general construction purposes for engines, control stations, architectural decoration or alternative lights (discretely illuminated by hidden lighting), etc.
At some stage all the animations will probably turn up as components in other textures, like mobs and menus, or other blocks and items.
I have always thought yours to be the best pack to play in both Survival and Creative, and am always looking forward to the next version of the esteemed Glimmar's Steampunk.
Just a thought, have you considered adding custom sounds to your resource pack? Like making zombies and villagers sound like the robotic contraptions they are. As always, you know best, it was just a thought.
Edit: Btw, the Spark looks much better than the Plasma, though I'd even go as far as to say the "Pulsing Fetus" is the best. Personally, I'd keep the Spark one as the default.
Thanks for the input, guys. Well originally it was going to be the plasma version for the default and the vid was destined for release last Friday, then I made a disastrous error with all the variations without thinking of the consequences...I desaturated all the egg_shell and egg_shell_overlay textures as per how they are in vanilla and most other packs and checked to see how they looked ingame.
As it turned out, apart from the fetus vats, the rest looked truly awful and washed out and when I went back into my working folder to reverse the process I discovered I hadn't made backups of the full-coloured versions! So I had to go right back to the beginning of the process, including re-animating everything (sounds a bit Frankenstein, lol!), taking another week of my free time away. Hence why there's a delay now on starting on the 1.8 stuff. Such is life!
Usually I'm a stickler for making backups of every stage of the editing process, so I won't be making that mistake again! I think I just got lazy and tired is all I can think, plus having to do multiple variations for both 'fast' and 'fancy' graphics made me want to cut corners.
One thing Cynips made me think in favor of the plasma version is that use of the word 'vapourous'. It suggests and makes me view the plasma more along the lines of a kind of life force of energy, confined in a bottle...genie style. So the plasma could double as both light, and a life force waiting to be born...that might work.
I'll wait a while and see what other views pop up.
I had an idea for the new slime bouncy blocks from 1.8. I think a good texture for them would be to make them look like an inflated airbag for a single block and then when they are next to each other and ctm'd they could come together to look like a giant airbag. My main idea would be to turn the block into one that could be used as the ballon of a dirigible when they are ctm'd together.

Lol! Great minds think alike! I'd already considered it, but it will probably be an alt design at this stage. With already having the wool for the dual role of simplified metal panels and also stitched together fabric, I kind of put the ballon/balloon idea into second place. At the moment I've been experimenting with something that's also a little more structural and 'spring-like', which promises to perhaps have more uses, but it occurred to me what fun it would be to bounce up and down, way up in the air, on an airship ballon! It would be nice if the wool blocks had some spring in them too.
With a theme like this, it's inevitable that minds start wandering down the same lines of thought with regard to what to do for new blocks. I say this because I'd hate you to think I was taking your idea and running with it as one of my own. The problem I have, with the limited nature of the blocks we have, is one of never being quite sure what's best to choose to be the default. Hence the reason why I tend to do so many alts.
Thanks, mate.
ps. If I get a chance, I'll throw up some screen shots and perhaps you and others might be able to suggest better things. I'm currently wrestling with different stone textures and checking I've got everything in the pack for the GSv.15 update. Slowly losing the battle though...it's a busy weekend for the family and I've a number of other projects snapping at my heels!
These are a few pics of initial slime ideas, as mentioned in the post above. Based on the leaded stained glass window frames, my idea is to use the transparent nature of the slime block to create a unique girder style version. Alts aplenty can stem from this, including versions that look a little more technical with springs and the like. As they will be based on the stained glass, possibilities are even more endless.
I think animation might be a little overpowering at this stage for something that might be used enmasse, but we'll see. I just want to keep things simple to start with, as I'm also contending with texturing new and old stone, including new ores. At this rate though all of this will take a long time, as I hate doin' massive amounts of ctm.
Rest of the pics? Click the spoiler button.
...and a funny one to end on... 'Slime Pad Blocks'!
After Rosestorm's suggestion about inflated airbags as per airship use, I couldn't get the idea of bouncing around on the top of an airship out of my head! So I'm currently working this minute on just such a thing. A good candidate for some simple random ctm too. As soon as I have something to show I let you see it.
I'm still intending to update very soon to GS v.15 with fixes and the new spawn_eggs, hence why the title of this post is GSv.16. v16 will only come out after MC updates to 1.8 and given the slow nature of work at the moment I might update in stages, as and when I get each bit of stonework done. I really don't want to keep you all waiting as long as you did for 1.7.
Let me know what you think of the above, including any suggestions. No swearing or vomiting please!
I like it! I see it as replacing the current use of Iron Bars in a long straight pillar as a kind of steel lattice tower, could make for some very interesting builds.
Good work as always Glimmar
Great idea for the slime, and of course outstanding execution
I'm still struggling with a sort of 'bellows' or 'airbag' type block but its not looking so hot at the moment
I can't wait to see what you do with the new stone blocks, they're sure to create all sort of new possibilities!

Thanks, mate. I'm kind of getting my teeth into this gasbag idea now, but it's more work to realize than the simple fun of messing around with lattice girders. The lattice style seemed like a good idea, because when viewed as a surface to bounce on, it still gave the impression of being able to flex, like the weave of a trampoline, but with all the structural advantages for building, as per the rushed examples.

It's the new and the old stone that's causing the headache really, not so much the polished versions, but anything that's also got to fit into the landscape as a natural material like the rough stone versions. With the expectation of randomness with ctm, etc., it's no longer just a one block project anymore. I also suspect that columns, steps and the like will get thrown in at the last minute.
Those dark metal girder slime blocks are awesome, never even thought of making them into something like that!
Makes me think about making my one into a spring or something... Hrmmm, not sure how it would work at 16x though!
Great work on the update so far though, glim, can't wait to see how you tackle the new stone textures.
Oh, and for the record, I also think plasma is a good choice. It just seems like something that could feasibly create/spawn a creature, pulsing with energy like it is, as compared to some sort of multicoloured lamp which is what the spark variant tends to remind me of. Plus the plasma one seems a little more mysterious.
Hmmm...Slime as both sticky and bouncy...Slimes bounce, but when applied to pistons it sticks to the adjacent block...It must be have something to do with surface tension. I remember in school we played with stuff in science class called a colloid. When you squeeze it, it feels hard, but if you let it sit in your hand it is like a thick liquid. Maybe you could make the latticework block with a hint of green goo as some kind of lubricant/adhesive at intersections, to give a sense that you are in fact using those green globs to accomplish something.

I think I'll probably go with the plasma lamp then, there's too many reasons not to now.
I was thinking of putting some kind of coiled spring affair in the center of the circular support frame, but thought otherwise as for building purposes it might get a little too optical illusiony. What was nice about moving away from a transparent goop was that I could play around more with how the outside arrangement of framework would effect the inside. Having a circular section meant it created some nice see-thru tunnels almost like pipes! I much prefer messing around with stuff like that than trying to make natural stone look natural.

Yes...there does seem to be a contradiction with the slime! Maybe like jelly (UK name I think) it can be sort of both gloopy and liquid and then when it cools down it sets into a kind of bouncy jelly. Although apparently in more advanced societies, slime emissions/exudations can be modified with enzymes to make various metallic substances, which with advanced farming techniques makes it possible to build strong, but light and flexible metal rods in great quantities. This little known fact was quickly seized upon by myself...hence my predilection for yet another scaffolding block!
In it's simple boiled form, slime goop is also known to make an excellent sealant for cheap canvas, which revolutionized the gasbag industry, as once dried it rendered the canvas extremely elastic, waterproof and virtually rot resistant!
Some also still swear by it's medicinal properties, particularly during the boiling down phase, where in times gone by it was common practice for mothers to encourage their youngsters to trot down to the slime purification plants and breath in the deep pungent slime fumes from the street level vent pipes. Boiling a pan of the 'green gold' this Christmas certainly helped clear my chesty cough...it cleared a few other things I wasn't expecting too...I'm seeing a specialist about that now though, so no worries!
As far as I know there isn't one. All I can suggest is you post a request comment on the creator's Youtube video page. I think it's still being worked on, hence perhaps the reason there isn't a map download.

...and a funny one to end on...
Good work as always Glimmar
Glad it didn't seem too wacky an idea.
Thanks, Squid.
Thanks, Sheep.
